Dear all,
I’m booking two dates for GEOFF MUULEN.
Avails are on 14th and 15th May 2012.

Rhode Island-based Geoff Mullen composed droning and softly cacophonous music for guitar, banjo and electronics on Thrtysxtrllnmnfstns (Entschuldigen, 2006). It sounded like John Fahey’s progressive folk being remixed by a glitch musician, or like Keith Fullerton Whitman gone folk. The Air in Pieces (Last Visible Dog, 2006) indulged in dense subsonic distortions whose original sources were impossible to detect.
The double-LP Armory Radio (Barge Recordings, 2007) increased the sense of disorientation with constantly shifting textures and continuously evolving patterns, still maintaining a low register throughout. If The Air in Pieces had focused on the vertical « depth » of sound, Armory Radio focused on the horizontal development of sound. This is more of a journey than a meditation.
I hope to hear from you asap.

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for CIAN NUGENT + TWINSISTERMOON + WARM DIGITS.
In partnership with Lee Tusk.

Cian Nugent is a guitar player and composer from Dublin, Ireland who
combines personal passions, such as suburban/coastal blues, traditional
musics, late 1960s & ’70s singer-songwriters, jazz ambitions, 20th century
composition and the Takoma school into a deeply personal style. His music
boasts an orchestrated and fully instrumented sound that is playful and
eerie at the same time.

Over the past 4 years he has toured with people such as Jack Rose, Glenn
Jones, Micah Blue Smaldone, Ben Reynolds, Nalle, The Family Elan, George
Stavis, Jozef van Wissem, C Joynes, Peter Delaney, Thinguma*jigSaw and
James Blackshaw throughout Europe and the United States.

Twinsistermoon, a.k.a. Mehdi Ameziane, is one half of French act Natural
Snow Buildings, and while both acts certainly share a similar aesthetic,
they are distinct enough to arouse frustration when attempting to figure
out where one ends and the other begins. Both acts specialize in rich,
atmospheric drone with a distinct cinematic quality. Both also stubbornly
alternate almost exclusively between short, sung acoustic folk songs and
long, exaggerated instrumentals, the latter variety being where a
pronounced horror film influence can be more immediately heard.

You’d be hard pressed to disagree with the seminal DJ and producer
listening to ‘Keep Warm… with the Warm Digits’ (Distraction Records), an
album that comes as though arriving from a distant time, where music still
only saw limitless horizons and endless sonic possibilities. Warm Digits’
duo Andrew Hodson and Steve Jefferis’ bewitching debut LP is undoubtedly
steeped in the lineage of the 1970s experimentalism of the likes of Neu!’s
hypnotic repetition and the open-minded philosophies of Brian Eno, but
it’s testament to the pair’s own broad visions that in 2012 these touch
stones have been sculpted into a sound that retains a refreshing sense of
modern vitality.

Hodson and Jefferis are a trans-Pennines collaborative project – something
referenced by the title of the track ‘Trans-Pennine Express’ – with both
having history as mainstays of Newcastle and the North East of England’s
intimate but ever evolving music community. Though Andrew has since moved
to the more traditional cultural powerhouse of Manchester, he retains
close links with the region, recently collaborating with old friends,
Sunderland’s Field Music, to help them record the unique ‘One Copy’ in the
North West’s Lauriston Gallery. It’s an album whose sole copy is owned by
the creators as a statement against the free streaming and sharing culture
becoming dominant in music and Field Music’s David Brewis returned the
favour to his old pal appearing here on bass. Hodson also runs Seed
Studios in Trafford and has worked as a producer with the likes of Maximo
Park’s Paul Smith and modern folk duo Cath and Phil Tyler among others.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Dear all,

Yes. SPAIN are back…
I’m booking some show for them.
Avails are between 21st and 25th May 2011.

Spain are a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band founded in 1993 by
Josh Haden (son of jazz bass legend Charlie Haden). Spain’s debut 1995 CD,
The Blue Moods Of Spain, garnered them a devoted cult following and
enabled the band to tour the U.S., Europe, and Australia. The album was
included on many music magazine “best of” lists for the year. Spain
performed on French TV, and opened for Cocteau Twins during the UK
atmospheric music legends’ final U.S. tour.

In the mid-late 1990s, several songs from Blue Moods were featured in
different films and TV shows. Film director Wim Wenders commissioned the
band to write a song for his film End Of Violence. Spain’s song
“Spiritual” was recorded by Johnny Cash on his Grammy-winning, Rick
Rubin-produced Unchained, and by Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny on their
Grammy-winning Beyond The Missouri Sky.

Spain toured extensively for their 1999 sophomore CD She Haunts My Dreams,
headlining large venues across Europe. A song from the album, “Our Love Is
Gonna Live Forever”, was featured prominently in an episode of the HBO
series Six Feet Under.

Spain’s third CD before temporarily disbanding, I Believe, was released in
2001. Haden took an extended break from the band, recording a solo CD for
Dreamworks Records (later released on his own Diamond Soul Recordings). A
Spain best of CD, Spirituals: The Best Of Spain, was released in 2003.

Haden reformed Spain in 2007 with all-new members and began playing gigs
again. A CD/digital single entitled “I’m Still Free” was released in
January 2010, and the band – bassist/vocalist Haden, lead guitarist Daniel
Brummel, guitarist/keyboardist Randy Kirk, and drummer Matt Mayhall –
recently completed work on their first full-length album of new material
in over ten years. « The Soul Of Spain » will be released in May 2012.

I hope to hear from you very soon.

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for WILL GUTHRIE and HONKEYFINGER.
Will Guthrie is basically available in June.
Honkeyfinger is available on 7th + 8th June.

Australian drummer/percussionist Will Guthrie uses amplified found and
junk, microphones, electronics, drums and cymbals. He works in many
different settings of music: live performance, improvisation and studio
He studied jazz and improvised music(s) at the Victorian College of the
Arts in Melbourne, Australia and alongside Ren Walters he started the
weekly concert series ‘Improvised Tuesdays’, now known as the Make It Up
Club and is Australia’s longest running performance space dedicated to
experimental and improvised musics. In Nantes, France he is part of the
collective CABLE# which also organises regular concerts and an annual
He also runs the experimental improvised CD label and mailorder service;
Regular collaborators past and present include Matthew Earle, Adam
Sussmann, Ferran Fages, Jean-Philippe Gross, Greg Kingston, Helmut
Schafer, Keith Rowe, Jerome Noetinger, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Scott Stroud,
Clayton Thomas, Robbie Avenaim, Ren Walters, Erell Latimier, Manu Leduc,
Jim Denley, Sebastien Coste, Mark Simmonds, Snuff Puppetts …
Will currently lives in Nantes, France.

It’s all about a making one hell of a pounding, primal, amped-up &
skronked out blues racket. Honkeyfinger is the one man band from the
bowels of the earth, erupting molten fuzz lapsteel, screaming harmonica
riffs and desperate bestial howling in a scorching hot cocktail of heavy
raw blues power. The Honkeyfinger sound hotwires the electric freak rock
of vintage Beefheart, Blue Cheer, ZZTop, and Black Sabbath into a jumping,
lurching monster. Boiling up the ghosts of Bukka White, Leadbelly and John
Lee Hooker with the bones of the country blues, laced with the acid fried
heaviosity of the Buttholes Surfers – this is the thick stinking soup that
Mr.Honkeyfinger serves hot.

I hope to hear from you asap.
