Dear all,

I'm booking some dates for the Belgian female duo BABY FIRE.

Ottis Toole was known for being Henry Lee Lucas’ lover and accomplice.
This inspired film-maker John McNaughton for Henry, Portrait of a Serial
killer. Toole was also a cannibal and a pyromaniac. In a filmed interview
he once explained how excited he would get when, for instance, he
succeeded in setting a mattress alight. Such a fire he would call a “baby
fire”.
His tragic life inspired Diabolita who started Baby Fire as a solo project
in 2009. She was joined by Cha! on drums in January 2010 and within a few
months they were opening for bands such as HRSTA (Canada), Part Chimp (UK)
and CJ Boyd (US). Their debut album will be released in March 2011 on
Cheap Satanism Records. A tour of the East Coast of the US will follow.
The duo’s influences are multiple. Diabolita – who got her pseudonym from
Pete Simonelli from Enablers – is a fan of Riotgrrrl bands such as L7 and
Babes in Toyland. She also admits to having listened to a lot of heavy
metal in the Eighties. Cha! was influenced by Mr Bungle, The Pixies and by
drummer Ches Smith.
Take your mattresses away from the stage or these ladies will set them on
fire!

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFER: ULRICH TROYER

Posted in Uncategorized on octobre 26, 2012 by debloque
Dear all,

I'm booking some dates for ULRICH TROYER.
He is available between 21st and 27th February 2013.

He is also a member of the VEGETABLE ORCHESTRA.

http://www.ulrichtroyer.com/index.php

"Somatic Soundtracks" is a selection of compositions from Vienna based
musician and sound artist Ulrich Troyer created between 2010 and 2012. The
pieces were produced in close collaboration and especially for dance
performances by choreographer Georg Blaschke. During the live performances
Troyer's minimalistic soundscapes and Blaschke's carefully articulated
body images form a symbiotic unit of sounds, movements and spaces.
Resulting in fascinating body-sound-landscapes. The tracks on this cd are
special reworks of the multichannel compositions. The everchanging
pulsating and oscillating tracks give a wonderful acoustic impression of
the hypnotic and slipstreaming live performances. The tracks on "Somatic
Soundtracks" move between abstract experimental sound architectures
("Embraceable You", "Ensemble in Gefahr"), distorted guitar-noise-drones
("Somatic Script") and deconstructed dub-basses and dub-structures ("Your
Dancer", "In Case of Loss") . Troyer places tiny acoustic and musical
events within big echo-chambers in a way that various elements of musical
bits and pieces suddenly form exciting new units. Towards the end of the
CD more concrete musical motives show up and give an impression of
Troyer's passion for dub, reggae and techno ("Song for Heide", "Back from
Serbia"). An obsession he has already shown on his recent 2LP "Songs for
William" (Deep Medi, 2011)."

I hope to hear from you asap.

Have a nice week-end.

col.lectiu d’improvisació

BOOKI?NG OFFER: RHYTON

Posted in Uncategorized on octobre 18, 2012 by debloque

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for RHYTON.

This offer is valid for Belgium only.

Open dates are: 14th, 15th, 27th and 28th March 2013

For other countries please contact soundofcobra@gmail.com

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxUaSxUwf1E

Rhyton pours out a sonic libation unto the liberated world. Waveforms ring
out, alternately frozen and blazing, wrenched from an improvisational
method. They seek to loosen the gaze so as to widen focus, taking the
unity in hand, not grabbing for the micro-constituent. Using the dynamic
levels of rock, Rhyton carve out an edifice of sound on their debut LP
that centers upon repetition and modal excursion. Recorded and mixed by
Jason Meagher at his Black Dirt Studio, this self-titled release is culled
from a highly fruitful three day recording session. Seeking to capture the
cutting intensity level of their live performances, the band takes the
ethos of full engagement. The multiple amp setup at hand in the studio
helps imbue the ear with « second hearing ». The split stereo, dual amped
electric leads utilized throughout the record are best experienced on
tracks like « Pontian Grave » and « Teke » where phase and tremolo patterns
bounce and surge from ear to ear, warping senses of both time and space.
These two distinct sound sources are a manifestation of dual perspectives
derived from a single emanation: this is not the fracturing of a voice,
but rather its multiplying into a unified but complimentary chorale as
different delay lengths and distortion levels cohere into an ensemble
greater than its parts. On « Dale Odaliski » the rock trio trappings are
stripped away as a booming tom tom, oscillators and delay loops evoke a
kind technological primitivism that seems akin to a message from a
shattered, distant future. Extreme attention to auditory detail is
apparent throughout the album, as blasts of varied gain stages writhe
within fields of phased cymbals and bass throbs. Taken from repose to
ekstasis – as mental impulse reigns above, so the body below records.
Rhyton is a band with an organic genesis, born from late night rap
sessions at a local Brooklyn watering hole. Heads of certain vibe gathered
together to tap into the underlying flux form of transportational music.
Dave Shuford (D. Charles Speer, No Neck Blues Band) had been knee deep in
research and practice in the realm of middle eastern musics during the
recording of his solo LP Arghiledes. From that album, the track « The Heavy
Heart of Ando-Yeap » was used as a leaping off point for the gestation of
Rhyton. Shuford brought his personal selection of varied string
instruments to the table, seeking to create a heavier electric syntax for
mandolin, saz and baritone guitar. Jimy SeiTang (Psychic Ills) emerged as
a sonic surgeon, creating wave patterns with his bass and pulses of tape
delay tales. Spencer Herbst (Messages, Matta Llama) injected his flowing,
highly energetic style of percussion and brought in visual conundrums by
way of videocassette. An instant near-telepathic bond was established,
making improvisations seem like composed forays even to the closest
confidants. With variants and heads situated as a point of departure,
Rhyton explores the inner workings of the ear and seeks the latent brain
bulge within the listener.

I would like to hear from you asap.

Thanks for reading.

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFER: JON PORRAS

Posted in Uncategorized on octobre 12, 2012 by debloque
Dear all,

I am booking some dates for JON PORRAS.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVgAPWqHmq8

He's available in mid February 2013 onwards.

Last year’s Undercurrent marked Jon Porras’s debut release under his own
name, and saw a subtle, yet prominent shift from the sound that him and
fellow bandmate, Evan Caminiti, spent years developing as Barn Owl. Time
has seen Barn Owl’s skills and influences transform their monochromatic
guitars into something multifaceted. In the face of this evolution,
Undercurrent feels like Porras’s enshrinement of the good old days, while
also a significant step forward from his work under the Elm guise.

On Black Mesa, Porras slyly shifts his music in yet another direction. The
album acts as soundtrack to an unwritten narrative, tracking the journey
of a nameless vagabond through the desert. The vagabond’s inevitable
demise in the face of desolation is curtailed upon discovery of the Black
Mesa, a gateway for interdimensional travel.

While it’s a nice story, it was likely not a premeditated one, but one
that arose from Porras’s reflection on the solo sessions that would become
the album. Either way, these sessions saw Porras inject more melody and
arrangement into his sound. The comet-tailing sustain that distinguished
Undercurrent is still present on Black Mesa, albeit acting more as
enrichment to the upfront guitar. Despite the added breadth, Porras still
sticks to the bare necessities to get his point across, making for guitar
passages that meditate on every ringing note and hazy chord.

While the west coast is hung up on the haze of beachy guitars, Porras is
seeing the sand for what it really is: desert. In doing so, he’s created
an album whose only direct connection to the present is its commentary on
the solitude that’s slipping away from us. Black Mesa is about keeping
that solitude.

I look forward to hearing from you asap.

Have a nice w-e.

Regards.

BOOKING OFFER: MR. 76IX

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for MR. 76IX

He is available from mid February 2013 onwards.

http://soundcloud.com/datacapture/mr-76ix-mmix

http://soundcloud.com/experimedia/mr-76ix-experiment-four-album

Skam’s most hyperkinetic operator drops his first album in five years. Oldham’s Mr 76ix is as virulent and uncontrollable as ever, mashing between ‘floor-burning acid, hulking hardcore Techno and synapse-fried Jungle with a frenzied, ADD quality. Fans of older Squarepusher, Mu-ziq, AFX, beware.

I hope to hear from you asap.
