MICHAEL CHAPMAN
Revered, veteran guitar maverick, Michael Chapman of Cumbria, England,
presents the hushed, radiant 24-minute improvisation 'Pachyderm',
alongside an electronically tempered remix by Robert Antony. It's the 2nd
in his more recent series of improvisations, making a move away from the
structured songwriting much loved by the likes of John Peel, Thurston
Moore and Jack Rose, to an absorbingly patient, simple and meditative
style exploring the potential of a single ambient chord. Robert Antony's
remix renders that piece seemingly in real time, filleting filigree layers
of resonance and more brooding tones from the original to fill the space
with a dense, smoky gauze of drone. Chapman has played with everyone from
Elton to Bowie, and now, at 71 years of age, he's ripe for rediscovery.

GLENN JONES
Since 1989, Glenn Jones has led Boston’s “avant -garage” instrumental rock
band, Cul de Sac, whose musical adventures are documented on nine albums
to date, including a soundtrack for cult-director Roger Corman, and
collaborations with guitarist John Fahey and former Can vocalist Damo
Suzuki.
A 30-plus-year devotee of the so-called “Takoma school,” Jones has written
extensively on the steel-string guitar’s leading lights: John Fahey, with
whom he was friends for nearly 25 years, and Robbie Basho, who befriended
Jones during the five years before his untimely death in 1986.

FIRE ROOM:

LASSE MARHAUG
electronics

KEN VANDERMARK
tenor and baritone saxophones

PAAL NILSSEN-LOVE
drums

Fire Room ventures further into the extremes of brutal cacophony and
disquieting stillness.A fevered amalgamation of glitchy electronics and
frenzied acoustic free jazz, Fire Room brings intensity to even the
quietest ruminations.

Relying on their shared history and intuitive rapport, Vandermark,
Marhaug and Nilssen-Love provide concise thematic continuity to their
volatile free excursions with empathetic listening skills and clear
communication.
Not for the faint of heart, Fire Room is a free-wheeling exploration
through the extremes of electro-acoustic improvisation.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best.
