Z’ev (USA) Availability: Last week of October + early November Territory: Europe Z’ev Z’EV (born Stefan Joel Weisser on February 8, 1951 in Los Angeles, California) is an American poet, percussionist, and sound artist. After studying various world music traditions at CalArts, he began creating his own percussion sounds out of industrial materials for a variety of record labels. He is regarded as a pioneer of industrial music. In 1983, critic Roy Sablosky wrote: “Z’EV doesn’t just break the rules, he changes them.” Journalist Louis Morra wrote in 1983: “Z’EV is a consummate example of contemporary performance art, as well as modern composition and theater.” and, “Z’EV realizes many of modernist art’s ultimate goals: primitivism, improvisation, multi-media/conjunction of art forms, the artist as direct creator.” His work with text and sound has been influenced by Kabbalah, as well as African, Afro-Caribbean and Indonesian music and culture. Dear all, I’m booking a date for BIRD PEOPLE + HERING UND SEINE SIEBEN SACHEN + HARE AKEDOD. Availability: 3rd September Territory: Belgium BIRD PEOPLE (AT) Bird People is a solo and collaborative project formed by Uli Rois in 2010. Rois uses a variety of acoustic and electronic instruments to create soundscapes centered around the drone but open to all possible ideas that may emanate from the void. Influenced by classic psychedelia and krautrock as well as different folk music traditions, the project also tries to explore the relation between music and performance space and setting. Recent releases include a split tape with A Story of Rats (March 2013, Feathered Coyote Records) and �Water Buffalo� (April 2013, SLOOW Tapes). HERING UND SEINE SIEBEN SACHEN (Germany) Hering und seine sieben Sachen is the solo project of Daniel Voigt (who also runs sicsic tapes). His slighty maddened mixture of new-new-age and post-industrial-music is currently based on tape-loops performed live on several walkmen and sounds like a worn-out thriftstore copy of an Oliver Messiaen record played at a busy city crossroad: foggy but beautiful. It’s the Laich of Love! Recent releases on Digitalis, Cosmic Winnetou & SicSic Tapes. HARE AKEDOD (Belgium) A new tape on the fresh tape label from belgium hare akedod with slow moving improvisations by the band hare akedod. david edren on synths and electric guitar and bent von bent on flutes, acoustic guitar, zither and voice effects. all recorded live at scheld’apen and st welvaert, antwerp in 2011 and 2012. limited to 77 copies, with a very nice design like all the releases on the label. their first album and they have already been seen together onstage a few

is the performing and recording name of Mexican electronica artist
Fernando Corona.
Brooding electronics and classical sound sources combine in the
integrated sound world of Murcof. He is a very modern composer, who
utilizes technology to make epic, moving suites of music with a
spiritual undertow. He draws on minimalism, post modernism and baroque
music to create music that moves the mind and heart. His ear for detail
and undulating tempos as well as his sense of space are heightened by
the themes of life, death and eternity that his work touches on.
Composers such as Arvo Pärt, Henryk Górecki and Giya Kancheli are all
suitable comparisons.
His work draws on his exposure to 20th century classical music and his
passion for electronic pioneers like Jean-Michel Jarre and Tangerine
Dream as a teenager, as well as his experiments in noise with his
pre-Murcof doom/avant garde outfit, Elohim. He has released 4 critically
acclaimed albums and an EP on UK's The Leaf Label. The groundbreaking
debut album Martes album (2002) is an established classic of minimal
electronic composition. All these elements swarm together in his current
phase of monumental sound construction which integrates acoustic,
analogue and digital elements seamlessly.
Live performances over the years have included a site specific
performance at Greenwich Planetarium (in collaboration with the Royal
Astronomer), Montreaux Jazz Festival (collaboration with Talvin Singh &
Erik Truffaz) and L’Auditori at Sonar Festival in Barcelona (with the
pianist Francesco Tristano). In 2008 Murcof toured a new work called
Oceano in collaboration with classical musicians BCN216 and light
sculptor Flicker.
"Mindblowing, like Sunn 0))) playing Ligeti in a galaxy far, far away.

PHILIPPE PETIT loves to play live and onstage uses an Electric
Psalterion + Cymbalum + an amplified wood-tablet, a washboard-like
kitchen tool, various glass/knives/inflatable balloons... Topping it all
he plays prepaired vinyls. Assaulting turntables to take advantage of
the vinyl material to fondle released sounds, raking the needle across
the record's grooves, rubbing their stylus on paper, cardboard, metal to
process unusual noises and textures. Dancing... Enjoying to perform and
entertain the audience.
Not musically trained/educated Petit lies outside the Classical genre
but his scores incorporate traditional classical components in a
predominantly unconventional manner which recently allowed his joining
in Jean-Paul Dessy's prestigious Musiques Nouvelles ensemble, as well as
the European Chamber Orchestra
PETIT has assembled what people call a dream-team of collaborators,
often joining Murcof, E.C.O., Lydia Lunch or Faust onstage, and working
with: Foetus, Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink
Dots), Kumo, Scott McCloud (Girls Against Boys), Cosey Fanni Tutti
(Throbbing Gristle), Fennesz, Machinefabriek, My Brightest Diamond,
Sybarite, Pantaleimon, Graham Lewis (Wire), Barry Adamson, Scanner,
Cindytalk, Mira Calix, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Guapo, Leafcutter John,
James Johnston (Gallon Drunk/Bad Seeds/Faust), ASVA, Jarboe and many more...

Born in New Jersey on April 7, 1952, MARK CUNNINGHAM started playing
trumpet at age seven, guitar at 13 and bass at 17. Attended college in
St Pete, Florida, where he met and collaborated in music and theatre
with Arto Lindsay.
Moved to Manhattan in 1974 with Lindsay and soon after formed the
beginnings of the No Wave with Sumner Crane, China Burg (Lucy Hamilton)
and Nancy Arlen in Mars. With this group took part in the legendary "No
New York" LP (1978), produced by Brian Eno (with James Chance & The
Contortions, Teenage Jesus & The Jerks -Lydia Lunch- and DNA -Arto
In 1980 produced Sumner Crane´s no wave opera, "John Gavanti", on own
label Hyrax, inspired by Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and the works of
Mississippi bluesman Bukka White. In 82 started the group Don King with
Duncan Lindsay and Lucy Hamilton. Later formations included Arto Lindsay
and Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu). In the eighties also collaborated with many
others including Lydia lunch, Christian Marclay, Rudolph Grey, J.G.
Thirlwell (Clint Ruin/Jim Foetus) and Fist of Facts.
First visited Barcelona in 1986 on tour with Don King and began
collaborating with Barcelona musicians such as Gat, Victor Nubla and
Anton Ignorant. On subsequent visits collaborated with Buildings and
began first formation of Raeo. Moved to Barcelona in 1991 and in the
following years developed the concept of Raeo and began working with
Pascal Comelade in his Bel Canto Orchestra as well as taking part in
projects and concerts with other groups such as Superelvis, Beef,
Telefilme, Mil Dolores Pequeños, Jakob Draminsky and Butch Morris. With
Raeo took part in various tours of Spain, France and Switzerland.
In 1997 recorded first solo CD, "Blood River Dusk" (Por Caridad
Producciones), with collaboration and assistance of Silvia Mestres.
Since then has presented solo concerts around Spain and France,
including a series of four concerts in the Fin-de-siecle New York
festival in Nantes (December, 1998) all with the artistic design of
Silvia Mestres.
Convolution is the new musical/visual expression of Mark Cunningham and
Silvia Mestres.

TALIBAM (USA) Availability: Between 28th August and 5th September Territory: Europe TALIBAM! « Talibam! was conceived by synth player Matt Mottel and drummer Kevin Shea in 2003. They have been a hard working band with 25 album releases since ’05, 20 tours of Europe since ’06, and interdisciplinary collaborations with musicians Rhys Chatham, Alan Wilkinson, Daniel Carter, Jon Irabagon, and Cooper-Moore as well as working along side Karole Armitage’s Armitage Gone! Dance company. They have performed for the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s River to River Festival, at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Kitchen in NYC, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and other world renown festivals and clubs.New York duo Talibam! might be remembered in a variety of ways: as a classic keys/drums free jazz duo, as obnoxious Dadaist provocateurs with an uncanny sense of musical history, as members of the D.I.Y. Brooklyn underground. Given their name and occasionally lo-fi surrealism, they might also be just as easily written off as goofballs, but keyboardist Matthew Mottel and drummer Kevin Shea could never be accused of slacking. Mottel, raised in Manhattan and present on the downtown jazz scene as a teenager, crossed paths with Shea, born in Pittsburgh, in Brooklyn, members of the first generation of the post-downtown jazz diaspora. Their earliest CD-Rs were packaged in cut-up Bruce Springsteen LP jackets and sounded, despite the attitude, like the groove-heavy organ trio Medeski, Martin & Wood. They toured and worked frequently, playing multiple times a week in New York in a way that was almost unthinkable in that era, moving between under-the-radar Brooklyn parties and the dwindling Manhattan jazz scene, including Tonic. Some releases came packaged in folded-up pages from Vice magazine, or blasted with spray paint, sometimes to the point of making the CD-Rs unplayable. Boogie in the Breeze Blocks Collaborations were frequent, including live work the Karole Armitage dance company, trumpet player and sometimes bandmember Ed Bear, free jazz saxophonist Daniel Carter (on 2009’s The New Nixon Tapes), and others. Their live show was a spastic attack of obscene improvised comedy, song fragments, and start-stop free jams. In 2009, the duo signed with the legendary New York avant-garde label ESP-Disk and recorded Boogie in the Breeze Blocks, which realized Mottel and Shea’s surreal vision with a rich palette of horns, vocalists, guitars, studio layerings, skits, and field recordings. Active by themselves as well, Mottel worked with the USA Is a Monster founder Colin Matthews in the CSC Funk Band, and Shea toured with bassist Moppa Elliott’s Mostly Other People Do the Killing. Featuring lengthy pieces which slowly unravel in the most mesmerising fashion, frequently underpinned by an insistent deep groove, the sixteen albums by The Necks stand up to re-listening time and time again.

The deceptive simplicity of their music throws forth new charms on each hearing. Not entirely avant-garde, nor minimalist, nor ambient, nor jazz, the music of The Necks is possibly unique in the world today.

*Caspar Brötzmann*: While Brötzmann typically performs with the power
trio lineup of Caspar Brötzmann Massaker (his early band), with guitar,
bass guitar and drum set, he only uses rock and roll and heavy metal
music as a basis for his music. Brötzmann's technique has been praised:
"...his attack on the instrument --- explosive, obstreperous, large
scale, textural, timbral --- asserts the material facts of
string-pickup-amplifier more bluntly than anyone else currently involved
in rock".[1]
Brötzmann's father, Peter Brötzmann, is a free jazz saxophone player.
