Four instruments : Doublebass, bombo, steel drum, keyboard, guitare, charango, voice.Style : acoustic, expe, poetry. LAS KELLIES Las Kellies formed in Buenos Aires in 2005, patterning their sound after the raw post-punk of ’70s all-female groups like the Slits and the Raincoats. Comprised of guitarist Ceci Kelly, bassist Betty Kelly, and drummer Sil Kelly (all of whom sing lead and are in no way related), the three women cut their teeth on the Argentinian music scene, starting with 2007’s Shaking Dog! and following it up with a more dancey, new wave-inspired album titled Kalimera in 2009. Both were released independently. After touring internationally, Las Kellies signed to Fire Records for their third outing, Kellies, which was released in the summer of 2011. JOHN DUNCAN + ALFREDO COSTA MONTEIRO John Duncan is an artist who has lived and worked in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Amsterdam, currently lives and works in Bologna. His body of work includes performance art, installations, contemporary music, video art and experimental film, often involving the extensive use of recorded sound. His music is composed mainly of recordings from shortwave radio, field recordings and voice. His events and installations are a form of existential research, often confrontational in nature. He studied sculpture/installation at the fine art school in Paris with Christian Boltanski. In 1992, he moved to Barcelona. Since then, his work stands somewhere between visual arts, visual poetry and sound. His installations and sound pieces, all of a low-fi character, have in common an interest for unstable processes, raw materials and gestures, where the manipulation of objects as instruments or instruments as objects has a strong phenomenological aspect. From 1998 to 2006, he was member of espai 22a, an independent collective for contemporary art. From 2001 to 2006, he was also member of IBA col.lectiu d’improvisació In sound poetry, he performs in solo polyglot and noise pieces ( portuguese, french and spanish), where sound establishes a different semantics. Ongoing sound projects: Cremaster (with Ferran Fages), i treni inerti (with Ruth Barberán), Atolón (with Ferran Fages and Ruth Barberán), Astero (with Juan Matos Capote), 300 basses (with Jonas Kocher and Luca Venitucci) and duos with Pascal Battus, Tim Olive and Michel Doneda. A GAMBLER’s HAND Percussion maestro, composer and bandleader Noonan truly does dance to the beat of his own drummer self. His Sean Noonan Brewed By Noon band has included kindred spirits such as Marc Ribot, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Mat Maneri, playing some twisted alloy of Afro-Celtic inclined punk-jazz. His music is not a bunch of noise, it’s, well, musical, but in an unpredictable, delightfully theatrical way. Brewed By Noon records such as Boxing Dreams and Stories To Tell with their wildly careening and vivid sounds hadn’t just turned old notions about experimental rock-jazz upside down, it’s bugstomped it, set it on fire and tossed it off a cliff. I hope to hear from you asap. Enjoy the week-end. Regards.
