CAVE
Cave is a primarily instrumental psychedelic drone band based in Chicago,
Illinois, composed of keyboardist Rotten Milk, guitarist/organist Cooper
Crain, bassist Dan Browning and drummer Rex McMurry. The band was formed
in Columbia, Missouri in 2006, and has released three full-length albums:
Hunt Like Devil/Jamz (2008), Psychic Psummer (2009) and Neverendless
(2011). Cave has toured widely in North America and Europe, and played the
Pitchfork Music Festival in 2010.[1]
Cave was formed in 2006 as an informal collaborative project by Columbia,
Missouri friends Cooper Crain, Dan Browning, and Rex McMurry, with Chicago
native Rotten Milk. At the time, Crain and McMurry were also members of
the now-defunct Missouri band Warhammer 48K. When Warhammer disbanded in
2008 the four began seriously writing and recording music together. Milk,
49, got his name while Cave was playing a show in Chicago and he spilt
milk on stage. The story goes that Cave rocked the house for so long that
by the time they went to clean the milk, it had already spoiled.[2]

As described by Dusted Magazine, « Cave is primarily an instrumental band,
but its members use their voices as an additional rhythmic element. »[3]
Often referred to as psychedelic drone or « psych collective, » the band’s
style is also heavily influenced by Krautrock. Cave are considered part of
the « Columbia Diaspora », a group of bands with members from Columbia,
Missouri who now reside in Chicago, including Mahjongg and Lazer
Crystal.[4]

In 2008 Cave released their first full-length album Hunt Like Devil/Jamz
on Permanent Records. The following year they released an album on
Important Records, Psychic Psummer, which received a positive review from
Pitchfork Media [5] and was described as « near-perfect » by AV Club.[6] In
2010 they released an EP on Drag City Records, Pure Moods, which was
reviewed favorably by Pop Matters[7] and garnered mixed reviews from Tiny
Mix Tapes[8] and Pitchfork.[9]
Cave’s Pure Moods EP was followed in 2011 by their third full-length
album, Neverendless, which was also very well-received, with Pitchfork
stating that the album introduced a new « feeling of focus and structure in
[Cave’s] music. »[10] Shortly before the album’s release, the band played a
show from the back of a flatbed truck while driving through Chicago,
garnering a glowing feature in the Chicago Reader.[11] Video of Chicago
flatbed truck show can be seen online.
Guitarist/organist Cooper Crain has also released material from his solo
project Bitchin’ Bajas on Permanent Records, and works with other Chicago
bands as an analog recording engin.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

BOOKING OFFERS: TOSHIMURA NAKAMURA and PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXGIZsxDPGg
Tour period: Between October abd December 2014
Territory: Europe

PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN (UK/CHINA/USA)
http://www.nme.com/nme-video/youtube/id/liol5wQpupA/search/
Tour periods: October 2014 + February 2015
Territory: Europe

TOSHIMARU NAKAMURA
Toshimaru Nakamura is a Japanese musician, active in free improvisation
and Japanese onkyo.
He began his career playing rock and roll guitar, but gradually explored
other types of music, even abandoning guitar and started working on
circuit bending. He uses a mixing console as a live, interactive musical
instrument: « Nakamura plays the ‘no-input mixing board’, connecting the
input of the board to the output, then manipulating the resultant audio
feedback. »[1][2]
Nakamura’s music has been described as « sounds ranging from piercing high
tones and shimmering whistles to galumphing, crackle-spattered bass
patterns. »[3]

PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN
PHIL MINTON:
Phil Minton comes from Torquay. He played trumpet and sang with the Mike
Westbrook Band in the early 60s- Then in dance and rock bands in Europe
for the later of part of the decade. He returned to England in 1971,
rejoining Westbrook and was involved in many of his projects until the mid
1980Œs.
For most of the last forty years, Minton has been working as a improvising
singer in lots of groups, orchestras, and situations, all over the place.
Numerous composers have written music especially for his extended vocal
techniques. He has a quartet with Veryan Weston, Roger Turner and John
Butcher, and ongoing duos, trios and quartets with above and many other
musicians.

AUDREY CHEN
AUDREY CHEN is a Chinese-American musician who was born into a family of
material scientists, doctors and engineers, outside of Chicago in 1976.
Parting ways with the family convention, she turned to the cello at age 8
and voice at 11. After years of classical and conservatory training in
both instruments, with a resulting specialization in early and new music,
she parted ways again in 2003 to begin new negotiations with sound in
order to discover a more individually honest aesthetic.
Now, using the cello, voice and analog electronics, Chenfs work delves
deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. A
large component of her music is improvised and her approach to this is
extremely personal and visceral. Her playing explores the combination and
layering of a homemade analog synthesizer, preparations and traditional
and extended techniques in both the voice and cello. She works to join
these elements into a singular ecstatic personal language.

Thanjs for reading.

I woould like to hear from you asap.

All the best.

Dear all,

OISEAUX-TEMPETE (France)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Raz-Pwy3o5w
Territory: Europe
Availability: On request from late September 2014 onwards

SUDDEN INFANT
After 25 years of extensive solo works and collaborations, 2014 will see Sudden Infant’s most striking transformation yet as with effect from the start of May, Sudden Infant will be permanently operating as a three-piece band. The band consists of Christian Weber on bass, Alexandre Babel manning the drums and Joke Lanz on electronics and vocals. The decision behind this transformation was reached at the conclusion of the recordings for the trio’s first album, Wölfli’s Nightmare, which is to be released in May on Voodoo Rhythm Records and is produced by Roli Mosimann.

NICOLA RATTI
Born in Milan in 1978. Began his musical career as guitar player. Lately his approach is more focused on beat-analog experimentation and sound installation. He is currently working with: Giuseppe Ielasi with whom he formed the project entitled Bellows, Attila Faravelli as Faravelliratti, ~Tilde, a trio with Enrico Malatesta and Attila Faravelli. He played guitar from 2007 to 2013 in the desertic soundtrack-band Ronin. He has performed live in Europe and North America, and his albums had been released by Anticipate, Preservation, Die Schachtel, Entr’acte, Senufo Editions, Megaplomb, Musica Moderna, Boring Machines, Coriolis Sounds, Zymogen, Holidays Rec.

OISEAUX-TEMPETE
he trio was created in Paris in 2012 by the musically versatile pair Frédéric D. Oberland (guitar) and Stéphane Pigneul (bass) (members of FareWell Poetry and Le Réveil des Tropiques) and percussionist Ben Mc Connell (drummer for bands such as Beach House, Rain Machine, Au Revoir Simone, Marissa Nadler and Winter Family).

The band’s creative process is intertwined with that of Stéphane C., French photographer/filmmaker, currently documenting the existential conflicts brought on by the political and economical turmoil in Greece. In light of this encounter, this project quickly became a whole: musical, visual, political. The initiating impetus is urgency.
Originally conceived as a musical and visual, poetic and militant voyage, this first album retraces, in a sonic odyssey, the qualms and queries of a sickly and dysfunctional Western society. Reason first reared its head in Greece, and now it is the seat of a modern maelstrom, unfurling a new set of questions.
Alternating moments of inexorable tension and luminous respite, the Oiseaux-Tempête’s debut album LP takes flight and slowly unfolds in an implacable ascension, the rich photographic contributions fleshing out the poetic narrative.

Thanks for reading. Please get back to me if you’re interested setting up a gig for one of thse artists.

All the best.

CHRIS BROKAW
Chris Brokaw (born August 1, 1964[2]) is an American musician, mostly
known for his work with the bands Come and Codeine, in addition to his
many collaborative projects and original soundtracks.

JESUS IS MY SON
Jesus is my son is the solo project of Grégory Duby. This project is a
desire for sadness, loneliness and power. It is a long trip where eternity
is between notes. Jesus is my son impels the audience to listen
contemplatively to the electric guitar.

PAK YAN LAU
Born in Belgium, with origins from Hong Kong, Pak Yan Lau started touching
the keys when she was 9 years old. She attended some conservatories here
and there, and took a big interest in sounds, electronics and analog
synths. After some very interesting encounters she rolled into the world
of free improvisation, and different doors of possibilities opened up.
Currently she makes music for dance-theatre productions (‘Gadgetland’ by
Lazara Rosell Albear, Saai by Tweelicht&Zoon), documentary (‘News from
Nowhere’ by Christophe Van Collie), is the musical director of Shadow
Theatre Company Dala Dala, band leader of The Crappy Mini Band (crazy
eclectic toy/object band), Kuruwasan (free and improvised music) & Going

Yamamoto, Chris Corsano, Manja Ristic, Mathieu Ha, Nico Roig, Lynn
Cassiers, etc….

DALIDA
» Incarnations terrestres
: Klaus Legal et DAiKiRi (membres de la race, Le Singe Blanc, Judas
Donneger, Amour, Myster Möebius…)

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

MICHAEL ZERANG/DANIEL HIGGS
Daniel Higgs and Michael Zerang join their energies in this special duo
project, bringing together diverse musical worlds through improvisation
and folk forms, all with an deep, ecstatic underpinning.
Their near-telepathic ability to communicate in long musical forms, and
their ability to reach deep within to create indelible, sonic landscapes,
make this pairing wonderful and unique.
Daniel A.I.U. Higgs, interdimensional song-seamstress and corpse-dancer of
the Mystic Crags was born in the harbor city of Baltimore, USA in the
early-mid sixties of the previous millennium. Having begun singing 25
years ago, he is perhaps best known as the singer and lyricist of the band
Lungfish, which is now, as it often has been, quasi if not entirely
defunct. Presently, the music Daniel manifests proceeds without the
blessing/curse and help/hindrance of collaborative influence. Until NOW!
Michael Zerang is a Chicago based composer, percussionist, and improvisor
that has collaborated with an ever-widening pool of innovative musicians
since 1976, in the fields of free jazz, experimental, noise, and world
music.
He was a member for 14 years of the Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet,
Survival Unit III ( with Joe McPhee and Fred Lonberg-Holm), Winter
Solstice Duo Concerts with Hamid Drake, and with the creative music
ensembles, Liof Munimula and Friction Brothers, as well as many others.

NATURAL SNOW BUILDINGS
Natural Snow Buildings is a duo from France, consisting of artists Mehdi
Ameziane and Solange Gularte. They play music which can be classified as
experimental psychedelic folk with drone elements and ambient influences.
Formed in 1997, they released numerous albums, many of them in extremely
limited quantities.
Most of their albums have only been released in small numbers, often in
hand-crafted limited editions. Their work has been compared with such
bands as Popol Vuh, Flying Saucer Attack, and Tower Recordings.[2] They
make many references to the horror film genre in their songtitles; for
example Santa Sangre (with the track ‘Santa Sangre Part I & II’ on
‘Daughter of Darkness’), The Blair Witch Project (The track ‘Mary Brown’
on ‘Dance of the Moon and the Sun’ is a reference to a character from this
film) and director John Carpenter (a track on ‘Dance of the Moon and the
Sun’).

TERMINAL CHEESECAKE
Terminal Cheesecake are an English alternative rock band, originally
formed by Gary Boniface (formerly of The Purple Things and The Vibes),
Russell Smith (formerly of A.R.Kane and MARRS), Mick Parkin and John
Jobbagy (also from The Vibes and Purple Things) in 1988 in North and East
London.[1]
The name of the group was taken from a list of fictional sixties bands
written by Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond.[3]
Terminal Cheesecake were the first group to sign to Wiija Records – their
debut record, 1988’s « Bladdersack » EP was also the first release on the
label. Two albums for Wiija followed in 1989.[4]
The band recorded a John Peel Session in April 1990.[5] This was followed
by a third album, Angels In Pigtails which was released on Kevin Martin’s
Pathological label and described by rock critic Simon Reynolds as « an epic
of ruination ».[6]

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you soon.

All the best.

BOOKING OFFER; CASPAR BRÖTZMANN/MASSIMO PUPILLO/ALEXANDRE BABEL

Posted in Uncategorized on avril 14, 2014 by debloque

Dear all,

I’m happy to tell you that CASPAR BROTZMANN busier than ever.
He has a new trio featuring himself and MASSIMO PUPILLO on bass (ZU) + ALEXANDRE BABEL on drums.

I am looking them to do a world premiere. A unique show!!! Not to be missed!!!

They are available between 29th August and 7th September

This trio is totally unique and powerful.

Later the trio will embark on a longer tour.

Here are some words as an appetizer!!! 🙂

CASPAR BRÖTZMANN
Caspar Brötzmann (born 13 December 1962) is an electric guitar player. He was born in Wuppertal, Germany.
While Brötzmann typically performs with the power trio lineup of Caspar Brötzmann Massaker (his early band), with guitar, bass guitar and drum set, he only uses rock and roll and heavy metal music as a basis for his music. Brötzmann’s technique has been praised: « …his attack on the instrument — explosive, obstreperous, large scale, textural, timbral — asserts the material facts of string-pickup-amplifier more bluntly than anyone else currently involved in rock.

MASSIMO PUPILLO
Has been active as a bass player in the underground music scene of the city of Rome since his teenage years. He took part in the revolutionary experimental ensemble Gronge, an open project which blendedfree-jazz and noise rock with performance art.
In 1997 he has founded ZU, along with Luca T. Mai (baritone sax) and Jacopo Battaglia (drums); the band has recorded fifteen albums so far, including collaborations with Eugene Chadbourne, Mike Patton, Nobukazu Takemura, Dälek, King Buzzo (Melvins), and toured extensively in Europe, United States of America, Asia, and Africa.

ALEXANDRE BABEL
Alexandre Babel is a Swiss born and Berlin based drummer and percussionist. He is involved in various contemporary contexts such as modern classical music, free improvisation, noise and performance art.
Babel feels equally at home performing the most complicated music by contemporary composers as when playing wild and sound-challenging drumsin improvised situations.

I really hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

Posted in Uncategorized on avril 2, 2014 by debloque

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for: BOOKING OFFERS: DAVID TOOP/RIE NAKAJIMA,
KAUMWALD/PLEIN SOLEIL, AXEL DORNER, JACQUES DEMIERRE, JONAS KOCHER.

DAVID TOOP/RIE NAKAJIMA (UK/JAPAN)
http://www.sculpturetoopnakajima.com/archive.html
Tour period: November 2014
Territory: Europe

KAUMWALD/PLEIN SOLEIL (France)
http://kaumwald.bandcamp.com/
Tour period: Beween 19th and 25th June

AXEL DORNER, JACQUES DEMIERRE, JONAS KOCHER (Switzerland/Germany)
Tour period: Between 27th and 5th October
Territory: Europe

DAVID TOOP/RIE NAKAJIMA
This project Sculpture is based on a concept.
In every city they visit they invite either local or national artists.
They can be dancers, poets, painters or whoever.
Sculpture is an experience that proposes
A strategy, working to subvert the routines of performance as
entertainment, lecture as information, literature
fixed to the page, the conventions of duration, the direction of light and
occupation of a space.
When needed both David Tudor and Rie Nakajima can do more conventional
performances

KAUMWALD/PLEIN SOLEIL
Savage and hypnotic, Kaumwald’s music is builded on penetrating continnums,
spitting drum patterns, harsh spasms and drifiting echoes
Tracks evolves as driven by some autonomous mutant mecanism, comparable to
Jean
Tinguely’s « machinery for machineries-sake ».
Using modular synths, looped cassette tapes, field recordings, mecanic
driven hurdy gurdy and heavy treatments,
Kaumwald recycles techno, noise, musique conrète and dub technics into a
spontaneous dubbing act.

Jonathan Grandcollot , Pan Pan Pan / Maman Brigitte’s drummer transfers his
complex ryhthm trademark on a good old drum machine for the sake of dance.
Focusing on few sonic elements, he pushes techno into a radical punk art of
sequencing and sound shaping.

AXEL DORNER, JACQUES DEMIERRE, JONAS KOCHER
The trio plays an improvised music totally focused on the here and now.
The music of these three very strong players covers a wide musical range
going from silence and tiny sound lines to eruptive and sharp sonic
attacks, sound and listening forming the core of the music, rather than
any stylistic idiom.
Axel Dörner’s first instrument was piano, which he initially studied at
the conservatory in Arnhem, the Netherlands, from 1988 to 1989, and
subsequently (1989 to 1996) at the Musikhochschule in Köln. From 1991 he
studied trumpet with Malte Burba at the Musikhochschule. During the five
years in Köln leading up to 1994, he worked extensively with trumpeter
Bruno Leicht, as The Streetfighters Duo, The Streetfighters Quartet (with
Wayne Dockery and John Betsch), and The Streetfighters Double Quartet
with, among others, Matthias Schubert and Claudio Puntin. During this time
he formed the Axel Dörner Quartet with Frank Gratkowski, Hans Schneider
and Martin Blume, and The Remedy with Sebastian Gramss and Claus Wagner
(and guests Peter Kowald, Tom Cora and Matthias Schubert). Numerous radio,
television and concert appearances were made with these groups.
Jacques Demierre is a pianist, composer and improviser based in Geneva.
Whether acoustic or electro-acoustic, respectful of traditional music
writing or embracing free improvisation, his experimentations feed into
music as well as sound poetry and sound intervention in situ. They are all
driven by the same constant search for consciousness of sound.
Author of numerous pieces for ensemble or voice, he also explores the
power of everyday noises. Extending the sound possibilities of the piano
instrument, Jacques Demierre also interrogates the ways in which it can
approach the sphere of language. He develops a very cross and
interdisciplinary critical conception of music which gives him the
opportunity to work with artists from very different backgrounds.
Jonas Kocher’s work explores the relationships between tone, noise and
silence and the process of listening, this as improviser as well as in his
compositions. As accordionist he works exclusively in improvised and
conceptual contexts. A close collaboration with Michel Doneda has been
developed since 2008 and is still a central point in his work. He
regularly collaborates with musicians such Burkhard Beins, Alfredo Costa
Monteiro, Jacques Demierre, Gaudenz Badrutt, duo Diatribes, Chris Heenan,
Tomaz Grom, Hans Koch, Urs Leimgruber, Christoph Schiller, Stefan Thut,
Luca Venitucci, Michael Vorfeld, Christian Wolfarth, a.o.

Thank you for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.
