Dear all, I am booking some dates for CORTEZ, SEVEN THAT SPELLS, DIRTY FENCES. CORTEZ (Switzerland) Availability: between 8th and 14th September Territories: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland SEVEN THAT SPELLS (Croatia) Availability: 6th and 7th September Territory: Belgium DIRTY FENCES (USA) Availability: 27th July 2014 Territory: Belgium CORTEZ The Swiss hardcore scene is a thing. Cortez¡¯s Phoebus album is a brilliant example of what¡¯s going on over there. In fact, this might be my new favorite Swiss hardcore band on Throatruiner. Like their contemporaries, Cortez plays an emotionally charged style of hardcore that would have been at home in the early 00¡äs. It¡¯s a style that takes the dissonance of skramz bands like Orchid and Saetia and distills it into something human beings would actually want to listen to. Blend that with the maniacal fury of Converge and the low end menace of Will Haven and you have a record, that for me, is time-machine trip back to the days when this kind of thing was pretty much all I listened to. If you¡¯re into that sound, this is an amazing record. SEVEN THAT SPELLS Modern, aggressive psychedelic wall of sound incorporating polymetrics and occasional Viking funeral rites; hailing from the 23rd century where rock is dead, Seven That Spells returned in time where its still possible to change the tragic course of the boring history. The beginnings of the band were rooted in the power trio format but have since then ¨C and after more than 50 musicians passing through the band ¨C evolved to a more modern and aggressive psychedelic sound incorporating polymetrics and occasional viking funeral rites. DIRTY FENCES Dirty Fences is a punk band with roots in both Boston and Brooklyn. Its members include Max Comaskey (bass/vocals), Jack Daves (vocals/guitar), Max Hiersteiner (drums/vocals), and Max Roseglass (guitar/vocals). As described above each member has responsibility with vocals on the album which infuses the songs with a raw punk energy evocative of the stellar punk era of the late 1970¡¯s. I was most reminded of The Ramones but the music of Dirty Fences is an amalgam, an homage to that piece of music history. Thanks for reading. I hope to hear from you asap. All the best.
