Posted in Uncategorized on décembre 19, 2014 by debloque

Dear all,

These offers are the very last ones in 2014. I will start ‘bombing you out’ in 2015 again? Probably on 5th or 6th January 2015.
In the future I will not send more than two newsletters a week.

I’m booking some dates for GRISCHA LICHTENBERG, TRANS/HUMAN and MIKI YUI

GRISCHA LICHTENBERGER
Grischa Lichtenberger was born in Bielefeld 1983. In 2009 he released his debut EP ~treibgut ununbium on german label Raster-Noton. ~treibgut – a system of references to the river Rhein – operated as a motto for varied expressions: installations, videos, music, painting and drawings. Beginning in 2006, while moving to Duesseldorf, Lichtenberger decided to rethink the artistic process from scratch – it’s ethical legitimization and it’s epistemological backgrounds – all in regard to the concreteness of the biographical situation in its landscape and history. Since 2008 Grischa Lichtenberger lives in Berlin. With the new « supertitle » andyrchie iv he tries to proceed the idea or revaluating the reference to landscape as « the place we live in ».

TRANS/HUMAN
Adam Denton and Luke Twyman began collaborating under the name
Trans/Human at The Audacious Art Experiment HQ in Sheffield during
2011.

Employing several noise making devices and techniques in their
performances, including mobile phones, radio, cassette tape, prepared
electric guitar, processed drums, strobe lighting, contact
microphones, field recordings and feedback systems, Trans/Human’s
concerns lie within the physical act of music making and its
relationship to environment and audience. Through their collaboration
the duo sought to reflect their inclination towards creating
ritualized sonic and visual experiences via a series of improvised
performances, resulting in releases, The 8 Hour Dance (The Audacious
Art Experiment 2011) and The Wider (Blackest Rainbow 2012). Their
latest LP, The (Un)Expected, recorded at Audacious Space, Sheffield,
came out on The Audacious Art Experiment in March 2014.

MIKI YUI
Miki Yuis work deals with the memory of lived events. Focusing in particular on images and sounds,
it reveals the trace, or wake, that these leave behind as they fade, after having appeared (in the former case) or been produced (in the latter).
Starting from a perception of the faintest sounds and noises, Miki Yui develops pieces of music, drawings and sound installations that are subtle references to existents.

Thanks for reading.

Regards.

WOVEN ENTITY
Woven Entity are a unique proposition. Built round the percussive
talents of Patrick Dawes, Lascelle Gordon and Paul May (whose credits
range from Groove Armada to Beth Orton to The Brand New Heavies to
Alexander Hawkins), they offer a wholly improvised and extremely rich
stew of spiritual afro jazz, dubby post punk, lo-fi electronics and
eccentric ethnological forgeries. Comparisons have been made to Sun Ra,
The Art Ensemble of Chicago and Can, to name but three. Bassist Peter
Marsh and frequent collaborators keyboardist Ben Cowen and rising star
saxophonist Julie Kjaer complete the lineup.

MARINA ROSENFELD + CHRISTOF KURZMANN
Known equally as a composer of large-scale performances and an
experimental turntablist working with hand-crafted dub plates, New
York-based Marina Rosenfeld has been a leading voice in the increasing
hybridization between the domains of visual art and music. She has
created chamber and choral works, including the performances Teenage
Lontano, Cannons and roygbiv&b; a series of acclaimed « orchestras » for
floor-bound electric guitars and other quasi-sculptural scenarios; works
notated in video, including WHITE LINES and My red, red blood; and since
2008, a series of installation/performance works, often mounted in
monumental spaces, such as the Park Avenue Armory in New York and
Western Australia’s Midland Railway Workshops, deploying complexes of
unamplified live performers and custom loudspeaker installations.
christof kurzmann, born in vienna/austria, presently lives in buenos
aires. musician between electropop, improvisation and « new music ».
sometimes soloist, he prefers to be part of a collective or a working
group. played concerts in all continents except australia. organizer of
various events in the music- and media-genre. labelowner of the small
independent label « charhizma » – which at the moment only exists as a
platform to present musicians from around the world in various live
settings. conscient objector of military- and civil-service, he still is
politicly active and/or interested.

ZONE DEMERSALE
Zone Demersale is a techno/ambient duo formed by producer Michele
Ferretti (Nubilum) and sound artist Pietro Riparbelli (already under
Touch, Important Records and 20 Bucks Spin, among others).
The project starts from a conceptual and aesthetic reflection (both
members have philosophical training) to move into minimalism,
transcendental spiritualism, cosmic music and sonic spatiality through
a constant phonic and compositional research.
Their tracks are produced using various vintage hardware, from the
Italian synth Jen to the Echoplex looper, shortwave radio receivers
and various samples recorded by the duo.

I hope to hear from you as soon as possible.

All the best.

KEVIN DRUMM
Emerging from the city’s improvised music scene, in the 1990s he became one of the world’s pre-eminent prepared guitar players. Since then his work has expanded to include electroacoustic compositions and live electronic music made with laptop computers and analog modular synthesizers. His early recordings contain mostly sparse, quiet sounds; recent works have been more loud and dense.
Drumm has collaborated with many artists working in similar fields, including Japanese guitarist Taku Sugimoto, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jim O’Rourke, and many European improvisers such as Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson and German trumpeter Axel Dörner. He has also worked with the artist group Simparch, composing a piece for their installation Spec, shown at Documenta XI in Kassel, Germany and at the Renaissance Society in Chicago. Drumm has also worked with saxophonist Ken Vandenmark.

STROTTER INST.
The anacronistic machineries have dual roles as objects and as instruments. The first live impact is as installations, then the sounds start to grab the listeners’ attention. The auditive level surpasses the visual one. Therefore, the optical comprehension of how the sound is generated plays an important role. Hardly using sounds from LP’s – if so, they are cut or scotched – the main source of sound are the prepared pick-ups (i.e. sewing needles or strings instead of the diamond or the extended use of rubber bands). The treatment involves the unclean nature of the sounds as part of the music. Besides the work as a musician, Strotter Inst. is creating sound objects and installations out of turntables. The abbreviation « Inst. » can both mean « instrument » or « installation »

ANDREA PARKINS
Andrea Parkins is an American composer, sound artist, performer and improvisational musician based in New York.[1] She is known for her inventive explorations on the electric accordion, generative sound processing, and arrangements of objects and sound.[2] Parkins received a BFA from Tufts University and MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.[3]
Andrea Parkins’s work is influenced by the compositional strategies of John Cage and Fluxus and pays homage to musique concrète and 1970s analog synth.[4][5][6] Parkins often incorporates electronically processed accordion, customized sound processing, live tape manipulation, analog effects boxes, laptop electronics, acoustic piano, sampling, and amplified objects.[7][8] Her method and sound were characterized by LA Weekly as: “The big, varied, confidently conceived abstractions Parkins yanks from her squeezebox, laptop, effects devices and maybe piano — cloudy and cranky one minute, surgically sharp the next.”[9] With an unconventional approach to instruments, Parkins “fragments the instr

EUGENE CHADBOURNE
Eugene Chadbourne (born January 4, 1954, Mount Vernon, New York, United States) is an American improvisor, guitarist and banjoist. Highly eclectic and unconventional, Chadbourne’s most formative influence is free jazz.[1] He has also been a reviewer for Allmusic and a contributor to Maximum RocknRoll.
Chadbourne started out playing rock and roll guitar, but quickly grew bored[citation needed] with the form’s conventions. He then studied other genres, including blues, country, bluegrass, free jazz, and noise—eventually synthesizing all those heterogeneous influences into a unique style of his own.[citation needed] He was also influenced early on by the experimental stylings of Captain Beefheart and the Mothers of Invention. A notable solo album, Songs (Intakt 026: 1993), features politically oriented originals, such as « Knock on the Door » and « Hello Ceausescu », and covers, such as Nick Drake

I hope to hear from you soon.

Regards.

Alain

ELECTRIC ELECTRIC
Electric Electric is a french trio composed of looped and live guitars, drums, and electronics. The band was created in 2005 and played many shows in France and Europe. It was also invited at the SXSW in 2010 and Pop Montreal in 2011. They provide a sound density, a physical liberation of bodies, the repetition as a call to dance.
Their percussive music evokes a trance where the polyr-hythmic elements spread in a lightning way. These three musicians influenced by noise post-punk bands and by electronic and spectral music, play with the codes of the modern musics such as minimal electronics and futuristic r’n’b, as well as with those of the ancestral and ritual musics.
Electric Electric plays pop music with complex outlines, its own vision of ‘dance music’

JOKE LANZ + SHELLEY HIRSCH
Joke Lanz: Born 1965 in Basel Switzerland, currently based in Berlin
Turntablist Joke Lanz creates autonomous sound-cells that melt
into a
language free of any function.
He combines ritual reductionism with anarchistic playfulness,
atmospheric soundscapes with cut-up noise and physicalness with
unpredictability:
Massive scratches, walls of sound, grooves, loops, noises and
voice modulations.
Shelley Hirsch is an award winning, critically acclaimed vocalist, composer, and storyteller whose mostly solo compositions, staged multimedia works, improvisations, radio plays, installations and collaborations have been produced and presented in concert halls, clubs, festivals, theaters, museums, galleries and on radio, film and television on 5 continents.

FELICIA ATKINSON
She’s got an english name because of her grand grand father but she was a lonely child raised by her polish mom and her parisian father in an appartment surrounded by books. When she was a kid, she learned a lot of weird things for her age, many of them she had forgotten now, such as chinese, sword, baratanatyam, tibetan, harp, dance or theatre. This education made her creative and playfull. The work of Felicia Atkinson is inspired by two ways of thinking: the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy of the unfinished, and the lo-fi folk in music. Imperfections, raw materials, rock culture are the materials of her body of work which includes performance, writing, music, drawing, photograph….
The main theme that follows her is the perspective of the poetry of small things in which are hided the deep questions of existance: the missing, the death, the desire, the unspeakable. How to play with important thoughts through game, rhymes and songs. She plays in a sound project called Roman Anglais with Sylvain Chauveau and have released an album « Roman Anglais » on O Rosa Records in 2008. Felicia is also involved in two other bands, Stretchandrelax with her best friend Elise (doing a sexy reductionism with catch helmets and bird noises) and Louisville, a rock band inspired by trees and strange places. She had played and showed her work in many places such as La Foundation Cartier Pour l’art Contemporain (Paris), The Empty Bottle (Chicago), The Knitting Factory (New York) …

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

XL-TARGET feat. JOE BOWIE
Drummer KJ Dave Doran is teaming up with funk legend „ « Mr. DEFUNKT“ Joseph Bowie.
Joseph brings the funk energy into the music of XL-TARGET. This makes the music more explosive and challenging. He interweaves his trombone playing and his vocals into the experimental jungle drum tracks of KJ Dave and blends in with the avant-garde jazz guitar tracks of Christy Doran.
A new funky jungle-jazz mixture with ambient and breakbeat influences. A new kind of « urbane groovy future music ».
The genre constraints are abrogated and fused into driving tracks, with up-tempo beats. A full package of energy and rhythm – at the time the coolest LIVE jungle-jazz sound of the moveToGroove scene.
