ETERNAL TAPESTRY
ortland, Oregon’s sonic explorers Eternal Tapestry have always had a feeling of interplay between their impressionistic music and the dense forests that surround their hometown, but on their newest album, Wild Strawberries, they take that naturalistic inspiration to a new level. Wild Strawberries is a massive double album, which was recorded in a secluded cabin under the shadow of Mount Hood in Zigzag, OR. The Zigzag River flowed nearby, and the group spent time between takes learning about the area’s floral make up and relaxing under the stars. This idealistic lifestyle, however temporary, helped to chart the course of the recording process. Wild Strawberries’ artwork and song titles, which are named after plants specific to the region, both speak to the influence of that environment. The lush atmosphere combined with a week long sequestration from the outside world had a pronounced impact on the music, which unfolds in a panoramic slow burn. Wild Strawberries yields vast rewards for those who spend time in its aural forest.

PLUS INSTRUMENTS
Truus’ musical career spans close to 4 decades. Born in Eindhoven, The Netherlands she debuted as a chanteuse just at the beginning of the Punk craze in 1976. After a brief stint that introduced her to a touring style of life, with (ultimately) one of Holland’s most famous Pop bands « Doe Maar » (then called « Fool’s Band Doe Maar »), she continued playing in a number of Dutch bands. Her direction took her into a more experimental phase. She released her first single in 1979 on the Plurex Label with a duet called “BandT Plus Instruments”. Playing odd electronic instruments, Bass and vocals, most of their performances were improvised. She teamed up Michel Waisvisz, the inventor of the Crackle Synthesizer in numerous performances. At the same time she was also the lead singer in the popular Dutch New Wave Band “Nasmak”. Who released an album, again on the Plurex Label, in 1980, “Instruments Plus Nasmak / Nasmak Plus Instruments”.

ANNELIES MONSERE
Annelies Monseré has been playing music solo since 2000. Initially the music was piano-based and mostly instrumental. Once she ‘discovered’ her voice, vocals became a main focus. The early songs had very simple structures and melodies, and the words were sparse and introvert. Musically, she experimented with different instruments such as cello, guitar, xylophone and melodica. Her debut album ‘Helder’ (released by BlueSanct) was described as « a delicate album, complete with beautiful cracks and loads of tape-hiss. […] an intensely intimate album ». Other musicians, such as Wim Lecluyse (Circle Bros.) , Ellen Evers (The Puddle Parade), Jessica Bailiff, Michael Anderson (dREKKa, Turn Pale), Nathan Amundson (rivulets), Justin Vollmar (Vollmar)and Nathan Vollmar (Vollmar) supported her on stage and contributed to her second album ‘Marit’ (release by Auetic). This gave the album a significantly warmer sound and a less solitary feel than her previous material. Her most recent output is a 7 inch called ‘somewhere someone’ on Morc Records. This ep features a Hammond organ for the first time. This instrument led to new approaches in songwriting. This release deviates clearly from previous releases, with a darker and harsher sound. Besides her solo materials she is also collaborating with Jessica Bailiff. An EP has been released by Morc Records. For the moment she is working on a third full length, on new music with Jessica Bailiff, and more.

TOMAGA
TOMAGA is two musicians on a quest to deconstruct their normal sonic palette and create a new and unfamiliar sound world. Having played as musicians for years in bands such as The Oscillation, Shit N Shine, Neon Neon, Raime, Voice Of Seven Thunders, Luke Roberts and countless others, TOMAGA channels multi-instrumentalism into music that is by turns reminiscent of industrial, jazz, psychedelia and minimalism.
Rather than the complex, abstract sound that we might have expected to result from their totally unfettered musical explorations, the duo’s minimalist compositions are darkly psychedelic, elusive and deeply imbued with images – as though they have set some curiously unsettled, surreal dreams to music. After their first, self-produced cassette, Sleepy Jazz For Tired Cats, which was released in 2013, TOMAGA returns this autumn with their first album. ‘Futura Grotesk’ will be released on vinyl with the French label, Hands in the Dark.

Thank you for reading.

I woild like to hear fro you as soon as possible.

Enjoy your w-e.
