DRIP DRY MAN & THE BEAT REVOLVER
After many touring through Europe, the English one man band the Drip Dry Man landed in Brussels, settled down and presents himself and his band the Beat Revolver at Paradiso, October 31st 2012. Many shows followed as support for Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Jim Jones Revue, Dead Meadow, Experimental Tropic Blues Band, etc,…as well a great tour in Germany and Spain (Nov/Dec 2014)
In 2014 he works with drummers Jean-Phillipe De Gheest (Mark Lanegan Band) and Peter De Bosschere(Give Buzze, An Pierlé), bassist Luc Waegeman (Starfighter, Needle), gitarist Tomas Gons (De Fabrieke) and records a new 10 tracks album with De Bosschere-Waegeman as producers duo. The album contains original dirty primitive punk blues as before, but now spiced up with garagerock, voodooo, rock, swamp, surf, gospel and more delicious. Roots music with devilish catchy grooves in the style of Captain Beefheart,Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Howlin’ Wolf, Tom Waits, Grinderman, Jack White, Otis Redding.

SHELTER
is a new improvised music group that features Steve Heather
(drums), Jasper Stadhouders (electric guitar & bass), Ken Vandermark(reeds), and Nate Wooley (trumpet), all an essential part of the international music community. Each artist will compose music for the band, which will work as a creative cooperative, exploring individual compositional techniques and aesthetics and developing them as a quartet.
In September 2015 the ensemble will come together for the first time, butthe members of SHELTER already have history: Nate Wooley and Ken Vandermark have been working as a duo since 2013 and have released the album, North By Northwest
; Jasper Stadhouders has been playing in Vandermark’s group, Made
To Break, since the spring of 2014; and all of them have played inad hoc combinations together. They’ve been motivated to work together on this new project because of what they’ve already seen and heard from one another, and the potential for where the music of SHELTER can go is extraordinary and unlimited.

MADE TO BREAK
MADE TO BREAK is improviser/composer Ken Vandermark’s newest ensemble and his most radical. Combining elements of his interest and experience with the music of Ethiopia and the Ex, alongside the New Music ideas of John Cage and Morton Feldman, and mixing these with his perspective toward jazz and improvised music history, he has devised a compositional framework for the band that can be restructured for every performance and which deals with melody, sound, and rhythm in a completely unique way. This creative system gives the music of MADE TO BREAK an almost unprecedented flexibility and immediacy. The instrumentation of the quartet (drums, electric bass, electronics, and reeds) has given Vandermark an amazing palette of sounds to explore with each composition, but it is the individuals involved (with Tim Daisy, Christof Kurzmann, Jasper Stadhouders), and their diverse approaches to improvisation, that give the ensemble such a dynamic and spontaneous energy.

WILD CLASSICAL MUSIC ENSEMBLE
The wild classical music ensemble is a musical project launched by the association vzw.with in november 2007. Thanks to vzw.with, Damien Magnette, sound artist and drummer had the chance to meet Linh Pham, Johan Geenens, Rudy Callant and Kim verbeke, 4 artists with a mental disability. These 4 artists are working in different fine art media, but they also showed a will and talent to make music.
Originally the band focused on free improvisation, sound and object experimentations tied together with orchestration signs and experimental music notations. Lately they have begun incorporating the punk/rock riffs from guitarist Kim Verbeke, broadening their sound into a free punk noise rock hybrid.

PRINZHORN DANCE SCHOOL
Prinzhorn Dance School is the musical moniker for Tobin Prinz and Suzi Horn. They work from a disused church in the UK where they make all of their music, visual art and film/ video.
their debut album came out on the new york label dfa records, released in the UK by EMI. It prompted the british guardian newspaper to describe them as “the least commercially viable group ever signed to a major label.”
Prinz and horn do make music that is sparse, original, uncompromising and idiosyncratic. But never for the sake of it.

PEKKO KAPPI
Pekko Kappi is a Finnish neo-folk music composer, singer and a player of Jouhikko, the ancient Finnish-Karelian bowed lyre. He incorporates elements from blues and rock and experimental archaic chaos. His music has been described as ‘swaying between the foul and lovely dirty and pure
As a singer and a researcher he is well-versed in the Finnish runo-singing tradition among the older layers of Finnish folk songs. His debut album « Jos ken pahoin uneksii » was released in 2007 and nominated for the Finnish ethno-grammy award. The second full-lenght album « Vuonna ’86 » was released in February 2010 and received the Folk Music Album of the Year-award in Finland. Kappi has a strong ethnomusical approach in his work, but has worked with various artists across the differenet genres of music around the world.

KING AYISOBA
This is the traditional kologo music from the Upper East Region of Ghana brought with the energy and flavor of the twenty first century. King Ayisoba sings in Frafra, Twi and in English and is a big star in Ghana. There is a whole new scene now starting after King Ayisoba introduced the super catchy kologo beats to the bigger audiences in Ghana and abroad. The kologo is a two string guitar with a calabash gourd resonator, it is rhythmic and melodic at the same time. The King is bringing other musicians and dancers on this tour, dancing the traditional Frafra dia and kologo dances from the area of Bongo in Northern Ghana. The dance consists of very high jumbs and originates from hunting rituals. Aboku Adortanga (dancer and dorgo player) is King Ayisoba’s brother and is a master in playing the « Dorgo », a special horn from Northern Ghana used in the traditional Frafra tradition of music. The sound resembles a lamb calling out loud and was original used by the Frafra people in the forest to gather the village people to come and hunt. Gemeka is an absolute master in playing the guluku, a local drum from Bolgatanga Soko in Northern Ghana. Ayuune Sule plays the sinyaka, a kalebas filled with dry berries that sounds like a giant maracas and is thrown and hit in a magical way!

I hope to hear from you asap.

All the best.

Alain

MAMANI KEITA
Assitan Keïta, popularly known as Mamani Keïta (Bamako, 20 October 1965) is a singer and musician from Mali.[1] « Mamani » literally means « grandmother ».
She was raised speaking Bambara, and was a backup singer for Salif Keïta.[2] She is best known in English speaking countries for her album with Marc Minelli, Electro Bamako. She is credited on four tracks of the soundtrack album of the French animated film Kirikou et les bêtes sauvages (2005).[3] Mamani Keita released her second album entitled Yéléma[4] in 2006 and Gagner l’Argent Français in 2011. Both albums were produced and composed by French multi-instrumentalist Nicolas Repac.

MATILDE POLITI
Matilde Politi is actually considered the most representative female delegate of Sicilian Folk music.
Her work in Sicilian Folk is aimed to recover traditional sounds and praxis, not to let them disappear from our “soundscape”, trying to regive birth to an expiring tradition. She creates new compositions, always linking Sicilian roots with Mediterranean ones, to map out the historical connections and influences, but mostly to draw in music the actual misture of cultures that is springing from the multi-ethnic Sicilian society.

JOY + DEATH ALLEY
Southern California psychedelic savages JOY have signed to Tee Pee Records! The sound of JOY has been described as « a spaced-out sonic groove-ride » and « outer reach freak out », but that hyperbole alone doesn’t do justice to the group’s measured mode of attack. JOY puts a premium on establishing both structure and dynamics, its kaleidoscopic flurry and full-throttle riffage is anchored by both subtle detail and surprising textural depth.
The sound of DEATH ALLEY has been described as “an unorthodox cross contamination of MC5, Captain Beyond, Blue Öyster Cult, Motörhead and Black Sabbath” and “Rock ‘N’ Roll played with metal finesse and a pitch black psychedelic soul

DAVID TORN
David Torn (born 26 May 1953) is an American composer, guitarist, and music producer. He is known for the organic blending/manipulation of electronic and acoustic instruments and performance techniques that have an atmospheric or textural quality and effect. He is particularly well known for his influence on the development of looping effects.

ZANMARI BARE

JOZEF VAN WISSEM + GARCIA-HUIBERO
is a non-narrative film experience in
sensations, in ethical confusion, and in physical and psychic
contusions, directed by DOMINGO GARCIA-HUIDOBRO of FÖLLAKZOID. Dutch
minimalist composer (and 2013 winner of the CANNES SOUNDTRACK AWARD
for his score of ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE) JOZEF VAN WISSEM’s score
for the film consists of appropriated 12-string electric guitar drone,
black baroque lute mirror images, and minimal electronics.
GARCIA-HUIDOBRO is an aficionado of paranormal experiences. _PARTIR TO
LIVE_ sees him attempting to reconstruct the previous moments of what
could have been one of these episodes. High-tension cables, a forest,
an abandoned church, a barefoot woman; past, present and future become
confused, and in this dissolved reality, he is not sure to have found
what he was looking for.
Acclaimed composer/lutenist Jozef Van Wissem’ music is an incessantly touring musician. His intense live shows have taken him all over the world and he has performed at prestigious festivals like All Tomorrow’s Parties and Primavera Sound. Van Wissem studied lute in New York City with Pat O’Brien and he gives lectures on « The Liberation of the Lute ». He was commissioned by London’s National Gallery to compose a sound piece to Hans Holbein’s painting « The Ambassadors ». Van Wissem composed and performed lute and voice pieces for the Sims Medieval video game

NEGRA BRANCA
Marlene Ribeiro released her debut album as Negra Branca via Salford
label Tesla Tapes last year, having, in her words, « been providing
melodic and tonal dreamscapes for the Gnod Mothership since 2008 ». It
was expanded for a vinyl reissue this year, and you can stream the
album, an intoxicant fog of chant-like vocals, dubby basslines and
loping drumbeats, at the foot of the piece.

FREE NELSON MANDOOMJAZZ
REE NELSON MANDOOMJAZZ are a three-piece band formed in Edinburgh
playing an experimental blend of doom metal and free jazz.
Influenced principally by artists such as BLACK SABBATH, ELECTRIC
WIZARD, SUN RA, SONNY ROLLINS, ALBERT AYLER and WAYNE SHORTER, they term
their music doom jazz.
The band formed when all three members met through playing for the same
blues band. PAUL ARCHIBALD (drums) and COLIN STEWART (bass) started
discussing musical influences, and the concept of Free Nelson
Mandoomjazz was born.

STEFAN SCHNEIDER/SVEN KACIREK
Kenya meets Krautronics! Under the auspices of the Goethe Institute and
Unesco, Stefan Schneider (To Rococo Rot, ex-Kreidler) and Sven Kacirek
(« The Kenya Sessions ») have spent a fair amount of time in Kenya in
recent years. As they travelled the country, they recorded rare,
traditional music in different locations. On « Shadows Documents » they
graft their acoustically gleaned impressions of Kenya onto pure
electronic templates (with analogue accents). A central role is played
by the repetitive, hypnotic element which is so integral to tribal music
with its complex rhythms. On « Shadows Documents » the drums mutate into a
sort of synthesizer instrument, almost subliminally melting into the
sound of other instruments as a virtual observer, adding a certain
nuance here and there, rather than performing a more catalytic function.

SABIR MATEEN – JUOZAS MILASIUS
Sabir Mateen is one of the central persons of the New York
improvisers scene. Gradually evolving from alto to tenor saxophone, he
has been through a number of musical transformations. He has or is
performing with Cecil Taylor, Sunny Murray, William Parker, Alan
Silva, Butch & Wilber Morris, Raphe Malik, Steve Swell, Mark
Whitecage, Roy Campbell, Matthew Shipp, Marc Edwards, Jemeel Moondoc,
William Hooker, Henry Grimes, Rashid Bakr, Kali Fasteau and numerous
others. http://www.sabirmateen.com [2]
Juozas Milasius, guitarist, composer and author of various
performances, the enfant terrible of the Lithuanian jazz scene.
Probably no other Lithuanian jazz musicians has stirred up so much
controversy as the experimenting conceptualist Juozas Milašius.
Having made his stage debut in 1986, he earned the reputation of the
most uncompromising jazzman in Lithuania, entering the areas of total
free, uncontrollable noise and bizarre sounds, provoking both
unconditional admiration and relentless opposition. Completely
overtaken by the guitar, Juozas Milašius has tested the limits of
this instrument playing solo and experimenting in various projects
with improvisers, electronic and experimental sound artists.

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

Alain

NILS DUFFHUES
The recording quality is very warm here (perhaps also
due to the fact that this on vinyl, just as purists would love such a
thing) and each of these pieces is a small film by itself. Excellent
record, quite moody and textured, but also with shimmering lights.

URS LEIMBGRUGER + ROGER TURNER
_The Pancake Tour_ finds Swiss saxophonist Urs Leimgruber and British
drummer Roger Turner
together as a twosome (sometimes referred to as The Pancake Duo),
recorded in concert at The Loft in Cologne in October 2011. The
sax-drums duo is a varied and demanding format which exposes each player
to equal scrutiny, allowing no hiding place or time out. Instead, each
member has to be full-on constantly, giving and receiving, and listening
and responding; if either of them is not, it shows. Thankfully,
Leimgruber and Turner are past masters of improvisation and here give an
impressive textbook demonstration of the art of the duo.

ONE MAN NATION

Our evolving notions of sexuality and gender will play into the
deconstruction of music at Jam this Friday.

Tara Transitory, a Singapore-born experimental musician also known as
“One Man Nation,” will import the Translæctica trans*queer party
[8] from Spain to the art bar located off lower Sathon Road.

The artist will perform experimental noise followed by a presentation on
the transgender scene noise in Southeast Asia based on her research. A
DJ set will also be served up by Taami (Miriam de Saxe), Kiiri (Tara
Transitory) and Go Grrrls’ Mae Happyair.

THE PITCH
The Pitch has created a personal musical language and a body of work ranging from quartet music to extended, large scale ensemble pieces involving guest musicians and further conceptual elements.
Improvisation is an important element in their music. it is used as a generative device within specific shapes, structures and ideas for different pieces of music.
Their piece ‘Frozen Orchestra’ focuses on slowly changing textures, pitch-set constellations and the subtle blending of instruments. Previous versions of ‘Frozen Orchestra’ have included Lucio Capece (bass clarinet), Chris Heenan (contrabass clarinet), Biliana Voutchkova (violin), Johnny Chang (viola), Okkyung Lee (cello), Nils Ostendorf (trumpet), Robin Hayward (tuba) and Valerio Tricoli (revox tape delay).
As a Quartet they are currently engaged in what they call ‘Liquid Music’ which focusses on Pattern based structures and more rhythmic interplay in an environment of prescribed pitch combinations and specific kinds of interaction.

LUCIE VITKOVA Lucie Vítková is a composer, performer and improviser
of accordion, harmonica, voice and dance from the Czech Republic. She
graduated in accordion performance at Brno Conservatory in 2010 and
composition at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno
(CZ)
in 2013. During her Master Degree, she studied at Royal Conservatory in
The Hague (NL) and at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia
(USA). She has studied with Martin Smolka, Jaroslav Šťastný, Martijn
Padding, Gillius van Bergijk and Michael Pisaro. Along with her study of
music she used to teach tap dance at the Faculty of Theatre of JAMU.
She is a member of the Brno Improvising Unit, Ensemble Marijan, Dunami,
Dust in the Groove and Prague Improvisation Orchestra.

Thanks for reading.

I hope to haer from you asap.

All the best.
