App (Ext), Jonathan Coleclough, Tony Wakeford, Frans De Waard, Freek Kinkelaar, Danielle Dax, Rose McDowall, Edward Ka-spel, Kommissar Hjuler & Mama Baer, vidnaObmana, ruse (British artist)

COLIN POTTER
Andrew Liles is a prolific solo artist, producer, remixer & sometime member of Nurse With Wound and Current 93. He has been recording since the mid 80’s & has appeared on well over 200 releases.

A WITNESS
Originally active in the mid-1980s alternative music scene in Britain, A Witness first made their mark as a drum machine-driven trio releasing a 12″ single ‘Loudhailer Songs’ [1985] and debut album ‘I am John’s Pancreas'[1986] to critical acclaim. This brought them to the attention of BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel, for whom they recorded four sessions. Tours of the UK and Europe followed which established the band on the more angular side of mid-1980s music. Their career was brought to a halt with the death in 1989 of guitarist Rick Aitken in a climbing accident in Scotland. Founder member and songwriter Vince Hunt revived the band with a new line-up for a series of UK-wide dates in 2014 marking the 25th anniversary of Aitken’s death.[1] The band continues to play live.[

KING AYISOBA
This is the traditional kologo music from the Upper East Region of Ghana brought with the energy and flavor of the twenty first century.
King Ayisoba sings in Frafra, Twi and in English and is a big star in Ghana. There is a whole new scene now starting after King Ayisoba introduced the super catchy kologo beats to the bigger audiences in Ghana and abroad. The kologo is a two string guitar with a calabash gourd resonator, it is rhythmic and melodic at the same time. The King is bringing other musicians and dancers on this tour, dancing the traditional Frafra dia and kologo dances from the area of Bongo in Northern Ghana. The dance consists of very high jumbs and originates from hunting rituals. Aboku Adortanga (dancer and dorgo player) is King Ayisoba’s brother and is a master in playing the « Dorgo », a special horn from Northern Ghana used in the traditional Frafra tradition of music. The sound resembles a lamb calling out loud and was original used by the Frafra people in the forest to gather the village people to come and hunt. Gemeka is an absolute master in playing the guluku, a local drum from Bolgatanga Soko in Northern Ghana. Ayuune Sule plays the sinyaka, a kalebas filled with dry berries that sounds like a giant maracas and is thrown and hit in a magical way!
Traditionaly kologo performances occur at local pito bars, weddings, funerals, festivals or spontaneous jams on the street. Today we will see the force and spirit here, around the corner, learn wise lessons and dig up the future.

ZEA
Arnold de Boer deploying guitar and sampler for an almighty bout of crazily high energy songs – urgent lyrics over guitar, roughshod beats and grimy bass lines. Joyfully obstinate, wonderfully bonkers.

MOMUS
Nicholas Currie (born 11 February 1960), more popularly known under the artist name Momus (after the Greek god of mockery), is a songwriter, blogger and former journalist for Wired. Many of his songs are literary and could be classified as postmodern.
For nearly thirty years he has been releasing, to marginal commercial and critical success, albums on labels in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan. In his lyrics and his other writing he makes seemingly random use of decontextualized pieces of continental (mostly
French) philosophy, and has built up a personal world he says is « dominated by values like diversity, orientalism, and a respect for otherness. » He is fascinated by identity, Japan, Rome, the avant-garde, time travel and sex.

MOR KARBASI
Mor Karbasi is a singer-songwriter born in Jerusalem, and now based in Seville after five years in London.
One of her main projects is Ladino music, also known as Judezmo, Spanyolit, or Sephardic – the ancient language and music of the exiled Jews of Spain. She writes original material, as well as singing traditional songs. She has been compared to Mariza and Yasmin Levy, but has a strongly individual sound, whichever type of music she sings.
Karbasi’s heritage is mixed Moroccan and Persian, and according to her Moroccan Jewish grandfather, « the blood remembers, » meaning that before this her ancestors came from Spain. Her connection to this culture is expressed passionately through her music.

MIND OVER MIRRORS
MIND OVER MIRRORS, the evolving project of Jaime Fennelly and more recently, Haley Fohr of Circuit des Yeux, deploys modest acoustic constituent materials—an Indian pedal harmonium and the human voice—to produce roiling, meditative music that both simulates the swells and troughs of synthesized electronics and conjures the ceaseless rhythms of tidal surges. While we can point out referential sonic compass points—G.I. Gurdjieff’s harmonium improvisations; certain particularly harmonically viscous recordings of Sacred Harp singers; Edward Artemiev’s soundtracks to Tarkovsky films—in its prayerful patience, its simultaneously formal and folk aspects, and its unabashed (if intermittently anxious) beauty, it doesn’t sound much like anything else being made today. There is an easy, and unusual, confluence of praise and play at work in Jaime’s music that catalyzes heady reverie.

THE EX AND FENDIKA
The Ex and Ethiopian five-piece Fendika, the culmination of six years working together. It’s the latest in a long line of collaborations for the prolific Dutch punk outfit, who’ve previously worked with Sonic Youth, Tortoise, Getatchew Mekurya and most recently Brass Unbound.
‘Addis Hum’ is based on ‘Gue’, a traditional Ethiopian Gurage song.

MESSER CHUPS
Messer Chups is an experimental band from St. Petersburg, Russia. The band was founded by Oleg Gitarkin who had previously performed with Oleg Kostrow under the name of Messer für Frau Müller. Messer Chups is often considered a « spin-off » band of Messer für Frau Müller. The band was originally a duo of Gitarkin on bass guitar and Annette Schneider who played the synths. During 2000–2002 Messer Chups consisted of Gitarkin and Igor Vdovin on synth.
In 2003, the producer of Messer Chups and head of their home label Solnze Records, Oleg Tarasov, invited the world famous theremin player Lydia Kavina to join them. Together they have released several albums and reworked their previous releases. In 2005, Messer Chups became a duo consisting of Gitarkin and ZombieGirl on bass. In 2007, they became a trio, with drummer Denis « Kashey » Kuptzov from the famous band Leningrad. In 2008, they changed their drummer to Alexander Belkok, and Alexander Skvortzov became their vocalist.
Messer Chups’ music often features a foundation of surf drums on which they build collages of samples from odd sources, like jazz, east European animation soundtracks, and American B-pictures. On top of that they lay guitar solos and theremin.

THE SPACE LADY
If you’re going to call yourself The Space Lady, you better make sure your music sounds like something from another galaxy. In that regard, California-based outsider artist Susan Dietrich has passed with flying colours. Previously little-known beyond a few curious collectors, her frankly bizarre, child-like blends of delay-laden Moogs, folksy vocals, cheap drum machines and copious amounts of reverb are getting a second airing thanks to the efforts of Night School. We should thank them, as The Space Lady’s Greatest Hits is genuinely odd, but strangely addictive. It sounds like the product of too many long acid trips, and features, amongst other gems, an insanely out-there cheap-wave cover of The Sweet’s « Ballroom Blitz ». Inspired strangeness.

ERWAN KERAVEC
stemming from traditional Breton music practice. In 1996, Erwan was part of the Ronsed Mor bagad. The band came to record with La Marmite Infernal, the big band of the jazz collective ARFI based in Lyon, and this collaboration set Erwan’s improvisation practice in motion. It hasn’t stopped since… commissioning contemporary composers for solo bagpipe pieces. Works by Bernard Cavanna, Philippe Leroux, François Rossé, Benjamin de la Fuente, and Susumu Yoshida have been written for and dedicated to him, others have been written for him by Sébastien Béranger, Xavier Garcia and Zad Moultaka. For such commissions, Erwan Keravec is associate artist with the Centre de Création Musicale of the Théâtre de Cornouaille, Quimper, Brittany.

BLURT
When poet/puppeteer Ted Milton picked up the alto sax for the first time he experienced catharsis and, after his short-lived sax tutor told him he can’t teach him anything without spoiling his aspiring pupil’s idiosyncrasy, he formed Blurt in 1979 with brother Jake Milton on drums and arts teacher Peter Creese on guitar.
Their sound was rough and urgent, though not unfinished – far from it – the sparse vox-sax-guitar-drums instrumentation showed off the taut lines of Blurt’s schizo-disco-scapes, able to crowd them with claustrophobia while still keeping a clear, fresh sound. Ted Milton’s total lack of interest in smoothing out belied a stronger mind than most. During gigs they found their audiences flabbergasted at first, awestruck at second and hooked in the end. Rumour spread about this crazy three-piece outfit with a madman going out of his mind on bourbon and blowing his sax to shreds.

MOSS
Since they emerged from Hampshire’s catacombs in late 2000, MOSS have tirelessly dragged intimidating amplification and metaphysical malignance down a murky and overgrown path to oblivion. Whilst their sound has morphed slowly from lengthy and devastating exorcisms of psychic horror to a comparatively traditional form of sermonising, the last decade and a half has only seen them draw closer to a motherlode of ceremonial ambience and otherworldly dread. Fuelled by classic doom metal and British horror yet in thrall to no-one but their own wayward co-ordinates, these three seers have created a formidable collection of audial documents that bear testimony to an unflinching fascination with the ghastly and esoteric.

IDAHO
Started in 1992 in Los Angeles as a duo, through the mid nineties as a full band and then finally as a solo artist, the band IDAHO has become synonymous with Jeff Martin. He has been the sole thread through all of the incarnations. Known mostly for four-string guitars, low tempos, spectral feedback and nuance, IDAHO has never bowed to the pressures of being commercial. For their trouble He/they are the eternal underground band. By luck they’ve attracted a devoted, almost cult-like, following.
Idaho is like the secret club of indie music, and for this record you’ll need the code words….

Thanks for reading this very long email.

Please get back to me if you’re interested in setting up a concert for one or these bands and musicians.

All the best.
