TELEVISION PERSONALITIES
The Television Personalities are an English rock group with a varying line-up. The only constant member is singer–songwriter Dan Treacy (born 19 June 1960), who uses the band as a vehicle for his music. The band’s first release (January 1978) was the single « 14th Floor »/ »Oxford Street W1 », while their second, the EP Where’s Bill Grundy Now? features one of their best-known songs, « Part Time Punks ».

THE ONLY ONES’ PETER PERRETT
Peter Perrett is an English singer-songwriter, best known as the frontman of the 70’s rock band The Only Ones who split up in 1982 and reformed in 2007.
The Only Ones are an English rock band, initially active in the late 1970s. They were associated with punk rock, yet straddled the musical territory in between punk, power pop and hard rock, with noticeable influences from psychedelia.
The Only Ones were reformed in 2007 after their biggest hit « Another Girl, Another Planet » was used in a Vodafone ad campaign in 2006, and the same song was used as the intro theme to Irish DJ Dave Fanning’s radio show. The band completed a comeback UK tour in June 2007, and continued touring throughout 2008 and 2009. New material was recorded in 2009 and played live, but has yet to be released

NANA VASCONCELOS
Nana Vasconcelos  was born in Recife on the Northeast Coast of Brazil and, even after twenty years of playing throughout the world, his roots are apparent in everything he plays.
After playing in every imaginable context from symphonic orchestras to street bands in his hometown, Nana moved to Rio de Janeiro and began to play with one of Brazil’s greatest singers, Milton Nascimento. In 1970 the Argentinian tenor player Gato Barbieri was in Rio and invited Nana to join his band. They played in New York and then toured Europe, starting at the Montreux Jazz Festival where Nana caused a sensation. When the tour finished Nana decided to stay in Paris. During his time in the city he made his first recording, Africa Deus. Nana returned to Brazil and recorded his album, Amazonas, and began a collaboration with guitarist Egberto Gismonti that lasted for eight years and produced three albums of duets. Back in New York he formed Codona with Don Cherry and Collin Walcott, as well as touring and recording with Pat Metheny’s band. Since 1975 Nana has recorded with everyone from B.B. King to Jean Luc Ponty to the Talking Heads, but has never allowed himself to become a studio musician. His contributions to each project are special and go beyond the usual role allotted a percussionist.

TOMMY CASTRO AND THE PAINKILLERS
Born in San Jose, California in 1955, Tommy Castro first picked up a guitar at age 10. He came under the spell of Eric Clapton, Elvin Bishop, Mike Bloomfield and other blues rock players early on. As he
got older, Castro moved forward by investigating the past, falling in love with the blues guitar work of Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Elmore James and singers like Ray Charles, Wilson
Pickett and James Brown. By his late 20s he was playing in a variety of San Francisco-area blues and soul bands.

DEAN McPHEE
Solo electric guitarist Dean McPhee’s spacious, hypnotic and echo-laden music brings together a broad range of influences including Medieval Folk, Dub, Post Rock, Kosmische Musik, Desert Blues, Moroccan Trance and Ambient/Drone, but his singular approach to the instrument is very much his own. Having developed his unique style of playing over years of experimentation and improvisation, his critically acclaimed releases on the Blast First Petite, Folklore Tapes, World in Winter and Hood Faire labels and mesmerising live performances have cemented his reputation as being one of the most original and distinctive musicians in the current crop of post-Fahey guitar soli. « On the Wire” presenter and legendary champion of unusual and esoteric music Steve Barker recently described Dean as being “definitely one of the leading contemporary guitar stylists in the UK, and in the world” and his 2015 album « Fatima’s Hand » has been widely praised by sources such as The Wire, Uncut, Record Collector, Music OMH, DOA, Drowned in Sound, MOJO Magazine and ATTN: Magazine.

RACKER&ORPHAN
Racker&Orphan is a duo consisting of two of the UK’s most enigmatic and artful experimentalists, Sam McLoughlin (N Racker/Sam and the Plants) and David Chatton-Barker aka David Orphan (Folklore Tapes). Using handmade instruments and analogue projections, their live performances are absorbing and unpredictable. Racker&Orphan’s  10″ album « Sounds of Insects » was released earlier this year on the Hood Faire label and is a direct homage to an old Scholastic/Folkways field recordings LP of the same name by Albro T. Gaul and found Racker&Orphan using a mysterious blend of specialised field recording and sympathetic reassembling to create mysterious and absorbing insectile soundscapes. Sam and David were recently seen supporting Richard Skelton at St John’s Church in London, performing improvised music and live projections using organic materials and microscopic film as part of a live performance of Rob St John’s « Surface Tension » project. Earlier this year « Sounds of Insects » received a great four star review from Record Collector and was described by « We Need No Swords » blog as being « one of the most diverting and interesting releases of the year ».

ROB CLOUTH
With previous releases on Traum Schallplatten and Detroit Underground as well as the recent Clockwork Atom EP on Leisure System, Rob connects the dots between glitchy IDM and artful techno, somewhere between the beautiful melodies of Jon Hopkins and the high-intensity beats of Autechre. In addition to productions under his own name, Rob previously worked under the name Vaetxh and has created multiple pieces of experimental hardware and software, as well as designing all of his own visuals.

COOLHAVEN
Coolhaven is a band based on the principle of diabetics. Their music is inspired by the disturbance of balance between centrifugal and centripetal energies. The first and last thing Coolhaven has is some kind of concept or idea about how the noises they make should sound. They think the idea of making ‘good’ music is kind of obsolete.
There could be improvisation (utterly and totally composed) involved, or badly played dutch tribal polka blues. It’s the moment that counts, not fame or respect from future generations of cd-listeners.

JEAN-MARC FOUSSAT
Born Jean-Marc Foussat in 1955 in Oran, this is first with the guitar in the mid 70s I created several experimental groups as ephemeral to gradually prefer the synthesizer & the ruled paper, taking as much fun to traffic the tape in solitaire.En 81, I finish « Abattage », my first solo record that will ultimately published in March 83. Ten years later, thanks to « Marteau Rouge », I take the path the stage and the public with my analog synthesizer along with Makoto Sato on drums and Jean-François Pauvros on electric guitar.
In 2005 I met Sylvain Guérineau, saxophonist, who was born « Aliquid » which gradually will lead me to play more regularly with many actors improvised music.

PEKKO KAPPI
I, Pekko, am a player of Jouhikko – the ancient Finnish-Karelian bowed lyre. My music has been described like this: « In his hands the rough sound of weaved horsehair strings are swaying between the foul and lovely – dirty and pure. The old songs of unwritten tradition, timeless and dark stories mediates in his mouth. »
I got involved with the Jouhikko in 1997 in the Ala-Könni–institute of Kaustinen. Ever since I’ve been studying the Jouhikko tradition with the master players of Finland, Estonia and Sweden. I’ve been performing with different Jouhikkos in diverse ensembles, theatre productions etc. My debut recording, EP “Kalastajia ja kaivostyöläisiä » was released in 2001. I also co-produced the album “Hiien Hivuksista – Jouhikko Music from Finland » (2003). My first full-length album “Jos ken pahoin uneksii » was released autumn 2007, and the next one, « Vuonna ’86 » is about to come out any second.

GORDON ASHWORTH
Gordon Ashworth is an American musician and sound artist whose primary field is experimental composition for string instruments, magnetic tape and field recordings. He has been heavily involved in the noise and experimental music underground since 2002 and has released dozens of drone, noise, folk and musique concrete recordings under the names Concern, Oscillating Innards, CAEN, Riverbed Mausoleum, and now his real name. He has performed in over 25 countries and is a member of the extreme metal bandKnelt Rote.
Ashworth’s live performance focuses on tape manipulation of electro-acoustic drones and folk instrumentation, tempered by psychologically potent sounds of social environments. His field recordings are carefully edited documents of his job as a night taxi driver that accentuate a paradox of working a dangerous job in order to survive as an artist. The room grows into an intense sonic environment that instills feelings of being in countless locations at once, somewhere between privacy and social life, musical beauty and human ugliness, a full heart and a troubled mind. His debut full-length « S.T.L.A. » is a deep exploration of the fundamental elements of American folk music, musique concrete, modern classical and inexplicable emotions.
