MUSICA ELETTRONICA VIVA
Musica Elettronica Viva (MEV) is a live acoustic/electronic improvisational group formed in Rome, Italy, in 1966. Over the years, its members have included Alvin Curran, Richard Teitelbaum, Frederic Rzewski, Allan Bryant, Carol Plantamura, Ivan Vandor, Steve Lacy, and Jon Phetteplace.
They were early experimenters with the use of synthesizers to transform sounds: a 1967 concert in Berlin included a performance of John Cage’s Solo for Voice 2 with Plantamura’s voice transformed through a Moog synthesizer. At the end of the 1960s, they took part in the group Lo Zoo, founded by artist Michelangelo Pistoletto. They also used such « non-musical » objects as amplified panes of glass and olive oil cans, and their performances achieved notoriety in Italy for their ability to generate riots. They are active as a group to this day in addition to their individual work as composers – most recent MEV performance by Alvin Curran, Richard Teitelbaum, and Frederic Rzewski at Bard College in 2012.

LUCA FORCUCCI
As a composer, artist, writer and researcher, Forcucci observes the perceptive and dynamic properties/relations of sound and space. The field of possibilities is explored in music and art as experience. In this context, he is interested in perception and consciousness. He conducted his research at GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales) in Paris, and at the Brain Mind Institute in Switzerland. His artworks are presented worldwide on a regular basis (Biennale of Sao Paulo, Akademie der Künste Berlin, MAXXI: Museum of XXI Century Arts Rome, Rockbund Museum Shanghai, Haus der Elektronischen Künste Basel, Présences Electroniques Festival Geneva) and are in the collections of the Swiss National Library and Swatch. He has received awards from the Swiss Federal Office for Culture, Pro Helvetia, Swatch, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, and he was nominated in the arts at the World Technology Summit in New York.

ERIC THIELEMANS
Genre crossing/ blending percussionist/ drummer working from a classically trained ear via jazz drumming, free improv and all sorts of contemporary musics towards his own realms in music and performance. Being a teenager in the mid eighties of the 20th century, for him, as for many of his generation, multi disciplinarily is an evidence.
From his first moments of active musicianship up until now, Eric Thielemans always has been interested in performing arts, theatre, poetry and dance. Consequently he has worked with a wide range of (sound and visual) artists, performers and dancers.

ZENI GEVA + KK NULL
ZENI GEVA is a Japanese prog-hardcore band, led by singer and guitarist KK Null, one pioneering group of innovators and legends.
ZENI GEVA was founded in Tokyo in 1987 and quickly found a dedicated fan base in Europe and the US. Their popularity in the west enabled ZENI GEVA to be one of the first Japanese bands to tour in Europe and the US with bands like Bastro, Crash Worship, Dazzling Killmen, Don Caballero, Eyehategod, Melvins, Neurosis, Pain Teens, Shellac and more.
he experimental multi-instrumentalist K.K. Null was born in Tokyo, Japan, on September 13, 1961. He began as a guitarist, but soon added composer, singer, electronic wiz, drummer, and even « Butoh » dancer to his impressive musical resumé. Null joined the noise/prog rock outfit Ybo2 in 1984, issuing several albums and EPs throughout the remainder of the decade. From there, Null produced albums for other artists, created his own record label (Nux Organization), and played with others: with the self-described « progressive hardcore trio » Zeni Geva, John Zorn, Steve Albini, the Boredoms’ Seiichi Yamamoto, Jim O’Rourke, Merzbow, Fred Frith, James Plotkin, Keiji Haino, Otomo Yoshihide, Jon Rose, Atau Tanaka, Zbigniew Karkowski, and Philip Samartzis, as well as supporting such artists as Sonic Youth and Mike Patton on tour.

BLIND IDIOT GOD
Blind Idiot God is Andy Hawkins on guitar and Tim Wyskida (Khanate) on drums. Gabe Katz, the band’s original bass player is featured on the album but moving forward Will Dahl is the band’s new bass player live and in the studio. Touring in support of the new album is planned for 2015. “Moving from the studio to the stage is always great,” Hawkins explains, “the music opens up dynamically, both performance wise and sonically. The human ear has a much greater dynamic range than any recorded medium and we excel at taking full advantage of that fact.” The band has shared the stage with artists like John Zorn (a collaborator who released their third album on Avant Records), Helmet, Black Flag, The Minutemen, Sonic Youth, Die Kreuzen, Don Caballero, Jesus Lizard, Napalm Death, HR, Eekamouse among many others.

LEO WELCH
Leo “Bud” Welch Sr. was born in Sabougla, Mississippi in 1932. Bud picked up a guitar for the first time in 1945. Bud and a cousin would sneak and play the guitar while the actual owner of the guitar (Bud’s older cousin R.C. Welch) was away working. As he became confident in his ability to play guitar, Bud was caught red handed by the owner of the guitar, playing the forbidden to touch instrument. Bud’s older cousin was so impressed with his playing that he gave Bud free reign to continue playing the guitar. By 1947 at age 15, Bud could play well enough to perform publically and garnered the blessing of many elder guitar players. Bud was offered an audition by BB King but could not afford the trip to Memphis. Bud played the Blues continuously until 1975, at that time he converted to playing mostly Gospel, with the Sabougla Voices, which consisted of his sister and a sister-in-law. Bud also played with the Skuna Valley Male Chorus. Bud earned his living by carrying a chain saw up and down the hills and hollows of North Mississippi, logging for 35 years. Leo does not believe that Blues is the devil’s music but a way of expressing the highs and lows of one’s life through song. Bud had played his guitar for close family and friends for over 65 years and remained under the radar, undetected by the vast majority of Blues Aficionados, until April 19, 2013 after being secretly recorded performing at the 50th birthday of his now manger . Leo “Bud” Welch has taken the listening musical world by storm. Leo’s debut album “Sabougla Voices” was released January 7, 2014 just two months before his 82nd birthday and his sophomore album “I Don’t Prefer No Blues” was released on March 24, 2015 just two days after his 83rd birthday.

Thank you for reading.
