FILIAMOTSA
Developing psychedelic moods close to 70s’ King Crimson, Nancy/France based act FILIAMOTSA is both inheriting from the broadminded musical vision of ZU and the tense energy of France’s noise golden age (Bästard, Condense…). Started as a duet back in 2008, then a trio, quartet, big band, sextet… FILIAMOTSA reinvents violin with a hardcore and contemporary approach always on the breach. Late 2015 saw the release of « Like It Is » album (Aagoo Records) including GW Sok (fromerly of The Ex) on the mic, and a two month tour as a quintet playing an intense, emotion laden and perfectly controlled live show. FILIAMOTSA is a new thrill for every post-rock/psych/noise-at-its-best fan.

LIBEREZ
Based in main orchestrator John Hannon’s remote studio No Recordings in Rayleigh, England, Liberez have expanded their palette from previous outings on Alter to produce a perfectly engineered machine that consumes the beholder. A tense, gut-wrenching listen wrought with carefully considered space, the range of techniques and the depth of atmosphere is staggering. All Tense Now Lax never settles on a simple depiction of dread, foreboding or anxiety but layers textures upon rhythms to produce towering minarets of conflicting emotion

JESSICA 93
French one man project Jessica93 is a powerful and emotional force of hypnotic loops, grungy riffs and cold beats, all wrapped up in  an impressive sense of delicate and to-the-point song writing.
As one man playing all instruments, along with a trusty drum machine; Jessica93 builds his music with layers – balancing the raw and minimalist with a trippy warmth.

CHUCK JOHNSON
Chuck Johnson is a composer and musician residing in Oakland, CA. He approaches his work with an ear towards finding faults and instabilities that might reveal latent beauty, with a focus on guitar, experimental electronics, and minimalist composition. Recordings of his work have been published by Three Lobed, Strange Attractors Audio House, Merge, Communion, and Amish, among others

MICHAEL CHAPMAN
The guitar and voice of Michael Chapman first became known on the Cornish Folk Circuit in 1967. Playing a blend of atmospheric and autobiographical material he established a reputation for intensity and innovation. Signed to EMI’s Harvest label he recorded a quartet of classic albums. LPs like ‘Rainmaker’ and ‘Wrecked Again’ defined the melancholic observer role Michael was to make his own, mixing intricate guitar instrumentals with a full band sound. The influential album ‘Fully Qualified Survivor’, featuring the guitar of Mick Ronson and Rick (Steeleye Span) Kemp’s bass, was John Peel’s favourite album of 1970. ‘Survivor’ featured the Chapman ‘hit’, « Postcards of Scarborough », a characteristically tenderly sour song recounting the feelings of nostalgia and regret.

All the best.

BERTRAND GAUGUET
Bertrand Gauguet plays alto saxophone in contexts of solo and group improvisation – many festivals in recent years in France and abroad – his approach to the saxophone is involved in research on technical areas of the instrument, whether acoustic or related to amplification – composes electronic music : works with film, dance, visual arts and radio – focuses on learning processes related to sound and music – music and non music – sound as support for meditation – breath – the very relationships that sound and music have with image and body – still learning to play shakuhashi after recent trip to Japan

THE WHARVES
Hailing from Ireland, France and England THE WHARVES sport startling duel vocals, courtesy of Gemma Fleet (bass) and Dearbhla Minogue (guitar), which hang gracefully over their minimal rock format. They invoke the reverberated spook of 60’s girl groups, the mid-fi guitar crunch of Kim Deal’s The Amps, the vocal flavours of The Roches and the narrative and structural panache of 70’s progressive folk. Marion Andrau’s thunderous drumming drives through these compositions, ensuring the wealth of disparate influences remain focused and celebratory.

ANDREW TUTTLE
Andrew Tuttle, based in Brisbane, Australia; creates an instrumental sonic convergence of improvisation and composition; and electronic and acoustic tones. Performed on instrumentation including computer, banjo, synthesiser and acoustic guitar; Tuttle’s recordings and performances encompass elements of abstract folk, experimentalism, soli (sic) guitar, kosmiche and minimalism.

THE DEADMEN
Big loud rock from New York City! The curtain rises, and THE END MEN appear, bringing dirty blues laden rock along for the show. With vocals dripping with coarse emotion, guitar riffs skillfully take yourhand through a heavy percussive spectacle, all coming together into a beautiful sonic storytelling. The curtain closes leaving you breathless and screaming for more.

CHRIS RAINIER
chris rainier is a multi-instrumentalist, performer, composer/improviser and visual artist from melbourne, australia, now based in london.
For the last decade he has focused on extending the sonic possibilities of the lap steel guitar beyond its historic use and context. drawing on traditional techniques and repertoires, he has explored new musical territories within an improvisational framework, embracing a disparate range of musical influences: 20th century classical, tape looping, just intonation, drone, exotica, futurist noise and pre-war hawaiian steel guitar.

MATILDE POLITI
Matilde Politi is actually considered the most representative female delegate of Sicilian Folk music.
Her work in Sicilian Folk is aimed to recover traditional sounds and praxis, not to let them disappear from our “soundscape”, trying to regive birth to an expiring tradition. She creates new compositions, always linking Sicilian roots with Mediterranean ones, to map out the historical connections and influences, but mostly to draw in music the actual misture of cultures that is springing from the multi-ethnic Sicilian society.

Thanks for reading.

Please get back to me if you want to set up a gig for one of these bands/artists.

Regards.

THE GOLDEN GRASS
The return to Europe by one of the most exciting new groups of the global underground Heavy Rock scene, THE GOLDEN GRASS! Feel-good heavy boogie rock music, complete with soaring soulful harmony-laden vocals, epic psychedelic/prog passages, southern/country vibrations and top-notch musicality!
They will on tour with another great band from Sweden on Crusher Records: HYPNOS. They play heavy action boogie rock and is at this moment one of the fastest growing bands on the Swedish heavy rock scene.

KING’S QUEER
King’s Queer : restless Post Punk, musical hybrid, outcast duet, voices and machines, feelings and sensation explorers, from heart -warm to desperation.
Their gigs may be best described as perfomative, eclectical and empowering parties . In their already 6 years of existence, they did hundreds of tour dates in France, Switzerland, Deutschland, Germany, Belgium, Canada and french Polynesia. From a musical point of view, King’s Queer is all about original creations, electro tweakings and magnetical sequences inspired by artists such as Lou Reed, The Velvet Undergound as well as milestones song writers from the disco-pop era.
On stage, King’s Queer turns out to be an thrilling and burning live moment where the audience is in for a roller-coaster hell of a ride. In short, that’s a REAL show.

CHES SMITH – WE ALL BREAK – A MEETING OF HAITIAN DRUMS AND CREATIVE MUSIC (USA-HAITI)
With two teachers of mine, Daniel Brevil and Markus Schwartz on traditional haitian percussion: rada and petwo drums; myself on drumset and Haitian boula drum; Matt Mitchell on piano and percussion.
I wrote music for the piano using traditional Haitian rhythms and structures; we sing songs of Vodou as well. There are many many contributions from Daniel, Markus, and Matt which make a strong impression on the group’s sound.

ANTONIO CASTRIGNANÒ
Antonio Castrignanò is a tambourine player and singer rooted in Salento’s musical culture,  combining raw energy and pure emotion while moving from gentle chanting to the explosive rhythm of the Pizzica Tarantata. Antonio is a symbol of musicamong the people of Salento. Main voice and tambourine of the Notte della Taranta Ensemble, has performed, collaboratedand shared the stage with many important artists such as Stewart Copeland (The Police), Mauro Pagani, TrilokGurtu, Negramaro, Ludovico Einaudi, Vinicio Capossela.
He has performed live with his own ensemble in USA, China, India, Jordan, France, Ireland,
Portugal, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN
Benjamin Franklin plays music since 1996 (Buffle, ROT,Gangalai&Gourabai…). He is known as the casio-pop musician in a punky way, composing instant dreamy melodies & soundscapes with old synths (or guitar) and some effects. Some tracks or releases on Stenze Quo, Snaphots, Taped Sounds, Sloow Tapes, Disques de l’oubli, Lexi disques,Young Tapes, Ubik, Kraak, Lal Lal Lal..

DEATH INDEX
Death Index is a new project of Carson Cox (Merchandise, Neon Blud, Church Whip) and Marco Rapisarda (La Piovra, Sgurd, Archaic). Their debut album was conceived and recorded between Berlin, Tampa Bay, and Palermo, Italy. Born in Sicily. Dead in America. Born again in Berlin. Songs about Death and Dying. Computer Death. Social Death. Animal Violence. Death Index has yielded an album that has more in common with the primordial days of art punk than anything out there today. Roaring out of the gate with a feedback driven gallop, the album brings to mind the swagger of The Birthday Party and others. Simple synth lines and manic guitars swirl heavily throughout. Conjuring the experimental spirit of legends Suicide, while Carson’s infectious vocal croon serves as a melodious anchor through a multitude of unpredictable twists and turns.

MAGNETIX
MAGNETIX are a scuzzy garage rock duo from Bordeaux, France. They released their third LP “Drogue Electrique” on Born Bad and Slovenly Records last year. Now they have this new 7″ to offer from Shit in Can Records with one previously unreleased track.
Magnetix offer us their filthy yet refreshing brand of brash and sloppy garage rock with their new single. Their songs feature sharp and metallic guitars that cut like the edge of a jagged tin can, filled out with pummeling rhythm sections that at times sound either influenced by punk rock or even surf rock. Everything tends to get very dense and noisy in “Drogue Electrique” – they push on through with stomping guitar blasts and furious vocals that sound flattened by the instrumentation – which all combines for this ridiculous and extensive finale that is worth every second.

JAAP BLONK
As a vocalist, Jaap Blonk is unique for his powerful stage presence and almost childlike freedom in improvisation, combined with a keen grasp of structure. He has performed around the world, on all continents. With the use of live electronics the scope and range of his concerts has acquired a considerable extension.
Besides working as a soloist, he collaborated with many musicians and ensembles in the field of contemporary and improvised music, like Maja Ratkje, Mats Gustafsson, Joan La Barbara, The Ex, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the Ebony Band. He premiered several compositions by the German composer Carola Bauckholt, including a piece for voice and orchestra. A solo voice piece was commissioned by the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2002. On several occasions he collaborated with visual computer artist Golan Levin.

Thank you for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

All the best.

DAISY BELL

Dutch trio Daisy Bell’s music varies from atmospheric soundscapes to experimental minimal electro pop.

Evelien van den Broek (voice, concertina, synth, electronics), Dyane Donck (voice, guitar, bass guitar, toys, etronics) an d Richard van Kruysdijk (acoustic and electronic percussion, voice, synths, electronics) share a background inperforming, producing and composing for various disciplines and environments, including installation and multidisciplinary art, film, theatre and dance. They share a passion for genre-transcending music projects.

ALUK TODOLO

Aluk Todolo is an instrumental power trio performing Occult Rock since 2004. Their music is a methodical exploration of the powers of musical trance. Part occult black metal fiend and part snide kraut menace, the band conjures rabid obsessive rhythms and abyssal disharmonic guitars, subliminal spiritualist vibrations and bizarre, magick summonings. Aluk Todolo reduces psychedelic improvisation to a bare, telluric instrumentation, in which dry, spare percussion grievously mines the scrapes, shrieks and shimmer of mutated guitar and bass. The band’s sound is monolithic and stabbing, hypnotic but unpredictable, minimalist yet teeming: a dangerous, noxious coil of all things black. The name Aluk Todolo was brought back from a mountainous region of South Sulawesi in Indonesia, it’s an ancient religion with animist beliefs meaning «the Way of the Ancestors».

SIMON FISHER TURNER

Just out 12″ deeperama mix by Terre thaemlitz on his own label.

Really I just look after the kids and school runs, driving, shopping, cleaning, washing up and hoovering.

music slots in here and there.

KARL HECTOR & THE MALCOUNS

Now-Again Records follows up the Heliocentrics’ percussive excursions into the astral realms of psychedelia with an album of Afro-tingled funk music originating from Southern Sahara and recorded in Germany. Karl Hector has, to date, only appeared on one 7-inch, from 1996, as the leader of the Funk Pilots. For this album, he has teamed up with Jay Whitefield (producer and guitarist for the Poets of Rhythm and the Whitefield Brothers, and founder of the now defunct Hotpie & Candy

Records) and Thomas Myland and Zdenko Curlinja, founders of the Malcouns. Alongside Bo Baral, other members of the Poets of Rhythm and crack Munich-based session musicians, Whitefield, Myland and Curlija have crafted nearly twenty tracks that follow the musical roads that Hector has travelled. The underlying groove that ties these ideas together, of course, is as rooted is James Brown as it is Fela Kuti. As informed by Mulatu Astatke of Ethiopia as it is by Jean-Claude Vannier and Can. This is an album of the world. Not « world music »- but that will appeal to any culture ever transfixed by rhythm on « the one. »

BOOK OF AIR FIELDTONE

Fieldtone refers to ‘roomtone’: Roomtone is the “silence” recorded at a location or space when no music is played or dialogue spoken. Every room is different, and these recordings always carry their unique character.

The compositions of fieldtone are inspired by the tempo and sonic textures of specific nature locations. The sound to be found in nature has a very slow groove. A groove embedded by silence, and so slow it can almost only be felt while spending a few hours in the nature at sea, during a forest trip, in open fields, etc… It is this groove and the “silence” of nature that was an inspiration for the fieldtone compositions. By embedding this silent slowness into the compositions, the details of the sounds played become much more prominent. In this way the silence itself, amplifies the sounds that are played, and will also amplify the room surrounding the listener. The music is performed by an ensemble of string instruments supplemented with dr

VITAS GUERULAITIS

Vitas Guerulaitis are a Belgian trio bearing the misspelled name of a dead Argentine tennis legend. Their music is impossible to classify.

The band comprises three french activists who sought refuge in Brussels.

One may wonder what brought the trio together as their drummer (David

Costenaro) is an image editor who loves monoskiing and worships Jim Thompson, their keyboard player (Célia Jankowski) specialises in performance and studies the behaviour of flies, and their guitar player (Ismaël Colombani) is a mystical violin player who gives lectures once in a while.

BUSDRIVER

Busdriver is fixed as one of LA music’s most dynamic indie artist. From his years as a cyher phenom at Project Blowed to his years as a recording artist on Epitaph to his current role as co-head of Hellfyre Club, Busdriver has always challenged rap in the most particular and thoughful of ways.
