Dutch trio Daisy Bell’s music varies from atmospheric soundscapes to experimental minimal electro pop.

Evelien van den Broek (voice, concertina, synth, electronics), Dyane Donck (voice, guitar, bass guitar, toys, etronics) an d Richard van Kruysdijk (acoustic and electronic percussion, voice, synths, electronics) share a background inperforming, producing and composing for various disciplines and environments, including installation and multidisciplinary art, film, theatre and dance. They share a passion for genre-transcending music projects.

Aluk Todolo is an instrumental power trio performing Occult Rock since 2004. Their music is a methodical exploration of the powers of musical trance. Part occult black metal fiend and part snide kraut menace, the band conjures rabid obsessive rhythms and abyssal disharmonic guitars, subliminal spiritualist vibrations and bizarre, magick summonings. Aluk Todolo reduces psychedelic improvisation to a bare, telluric instrumentation, in which dry, spare percussion grievously mines the scrapes, shrieks and shimmer of mutated guitar and bass. The band’s sound is monolithic and stabbing, hypnotic but unpredictable, minimalist yet teeming: a dangerous, noxious coil of all things black. The name Aluk Todolo was brought back from a mountainous region of South Sulawesi in Indonesia, it’s an ancient religion with animist beliefs meaning «the Way of the Ancestors».

Now-Again Records follows up the Heliocentrics’ percussive excursions into the astral realms of psychedelia with an album of Afro-tingled funk music originating from Southern Sahara and recorded in Germany. Karl Hector has, to date, only appeared on one 7-inch, from 1996, as the leader of the Funk Pilots. For this album, he has teamed up with Jay Whitefield (producer and guitarist for the Poets of Rhythm and the Whitefield Brothers, and founder of the now defunct Hotpie & Candy

Records) and Thomas Myland and Zdenko Curlinja, founders of the Malcouns. Alongside Bo Baral, other members of the Poets of Rhythm and crack Munich-based session musicians, Whitefield, Myland and Curlija have crafted nearly twenty tracks that follow the musical roads that Hector has travelled. The underlying groove that ties these ideas together, of course, is as rooted is James Brown as it is Fela Kuti. As informed by Mulatu Astatke of Ethiopia as it is by Jean-Claude Vannier and Can. This is an album of the world. Not « world music »- but that will appeal to any culture ever transfixed by rhythm on « the one. »

Fieldtone refers to ‘roomtone’: Roomtone is the “silence” recorded at a location or space when no music is played or dialogue spoken. Every room is different, and these recordings always carry their unique character.

The compositions of fieldtone are inspired by the tempo and sonic textures of specific nature locations. The sound to be found in nature has a very slow groove. A groove embedded by silence, and so slow it can almost only be felt while spending a few hours in the nature at sea, during a forest trip, in open fields, etc… It is this groove and the “silence” of nature that was an inspiration for the fieldtone compositions. By embedding this silent slowness into the compositions, the details of the sounds played become much more prominent. In this way the silence itself, amplifies the sounds that are played, and will also amplify the room surrounding the listener. The music is performed by an ensemble of string instruments supplemented with dr

Vitas Guerulaitis are a Belgian trio bearing the misspelled name of a dead Argentine tennis legend. Their music is impossible to classify.

The band comprises three french activists who sought refuge in Brussels.

One may wonder what brought the trio together as their drummer (David

Costenaro) is an image editor who loves monoskiing and worships Jim Thompson, their keyboard player (Célia Jankowski) specialises in performance and studies the behaviour of flies, and their guitar player (Ismaël Colombani) is a mystical violin player who gives lectures once in a while.

Busdriver is fixed as one of LA music’s most dynamic indie artist. From his years as a cyher phenom at Project Blowed to his years as a recording artist on Epitaph to his current role as co-head of Hellfyre Club, Busdriver has always challenged rap in the most particular and thoughful of ways.
