BERTRAND GAUGUET
Bertrand Gauguet plays alto saxophone in contexts of solo and group improvisation – many festivals in recent years in France and abroad – his approach to the saxophone is involved in research on technical areas of the instrument, whether acoustic or related to amplification – composes electronic music : works with film, dance, visual arts and radio – focuses on learning processes related to sound and music – music and non music – sound as support for meditation – breath – the very relationships that sound and music have with image and body – still learning to play shakuhashi after recent trip to Japan

THE WHARVES
Hailing from Ireland, France and England THE WHARVES sport startling duel vocals, courtesy of Gemma Fleet (bass) and Dearbhla Minogue (guitar), which hang gracefully over their minimal rock format. They invoke the reverberated spook of 60’s girl groups, the mid-fi guitar crunch of Kim Deal’s The Amps, the vocal flavours of The Roches and the narrative and structural panache of 70’s progressive folk. Marion Andrau’s thunderous drumming drives through these compositions, ensuring the wealth of disparate influences remain focused and celebratory.

ANDREW TUTTLE
Andrew Tuttle, based in Brisbane, Australia; creates an instrumental sonic convergence of improvisation and composition; and electronic and acoustic tones. Performed on instrumentation including computer, banjo, synthesiser and acoustic guitar; Tuttle’s recordings and performances encompass elements of abstract folk, experimentalism, soli (sic) guitar, kosmiche and minimalism.

THE DEADMEN
Big loud rock from New York City! The curtain rises, and THE END MEN appear, bringing dirty blues laden rock along for the show. With vocals dripping with coarse emotion, guitar riffs skillfully take yourhand through a heavy percussive spectacle, all coming together into a beautiful sonic storytelling. The curtain closes leaving you breathless and screaming for more.

CHRIS RAINIER
chris rainier is a multi-instrumentalist, performer, composer/improviser and visual artist from melbourne, australia, now based in london.
For the last decade he has focused on extending the sonic possibilities of the lap steel guitar beyond its historic use and context. drawing on traditional techniques and repertoires, he has explored new musical territories within an improvisational framework, embracing a disparate range of musical influences: 20th century classical, tape looping, just intonation, drone, exotica, futurist noise and pre-war hawaiian steel guitar.

MATILDE POLITI
Matilde Politi is actually considered the most representative female delegate of Sicilian Folk music.
Her work in Sicilian Folk is aimed to recover traditional sounds and praxis, not to let them disappear from our “soundscape”, trying to regive birth to an expiring tradition. She creates new compositions, always linking Sicilian roots with Mediterranean ones, to map out the historical connections and influences, but mostly to draw in music the actual misture of cultures that is springing from the multi-ethnic Sicilian society.

Thanks for reading.

Please get back to me if you want to set up a gig for one of these bands/artists.

Regards.

Alain
