The Odes’ is a continuing documentation of Ted Milton’s collaborations outside of Blurt for the last 25 years; a litany of recordings with The Back-To-Normal Orchestra, Steve Beresford, Sam Britton, Andreas Gerth, Loopspool, Herman Martin, Paddy Steers, Yam Yam and Seymour Milton to name but a few.
Individual tracks from these various collaborations have been re-purposed and re-interpreted by Ted Milton and Sam Britton into a performance scenario and toured extensively over the last few years.

It takes two to bring out the wonderful subtlety and expressive power of the cimbalom. Thus Kálmán Balogh and Miklós Lukács joined forces in 2009, to acquaint audiences with their art and the potential in this emblematic instrument. The result is novel and poignant; jazz meets folk under the flag of musical proficiency. At the initiative of the publisher the two virtuosos started experimenting in 2009, and the sessions soon turned into playful explorations accompanied by joking and ever new ways of beating the strings. The fascinating skill and confident versatility enthral listeners: as Balogh relaxes and Lukács leads, audiences marvel.

Hailing from Central Sudan and now based in London after fleeing the fundamentalist takeover in that region, the Scorpios are a septet that melds Arabic rhythms and guitar chops (and a kind of swooning cyclical ecstasy) with a raw Eastern funk feel, properly dismantling cultural barriers in pursuit of a unifying rhythmic bliss. Heavy bass, synths, horns and percussions drive through traditional Sudanese forms to create a sound that owes as much to Detroit as it do to Khartoum

Solar Motel Band leader Chris Forsyth strikes a near-perfect balance between ’70s rock tradition and present-day experimentation with his signature guitar tone.  The Philadelphia-based quartet, which the guitarist has led since 2013, draws its core inspiration from the more transcendent guitar music of the 1970s. Their largely instrumental music sounds at once meticulously composed and entirely spontaneous, the product of some miracle jam session with no bum notes or wasted moments.

David Firstʼs musical life is filled with opposites and extremes. At the age of twenty he played guitar with renowned avant-jazz pianist Cecil Taylor in a legendary Carnegie Hall concert. Two years after that he was creating electronic music at Princeton University (an LP of which was released in January 2014 on Dais Records) and leading a Mummerʼs String Band in Philadelphia parades. He has played in raucous drunken bar bands and in pin-drop quiet concert halls with classical ensembles. As a composer First has created everything from finely crafted pop songs to long, severely minimalist drone-works. His performances often find him sitting trance-like without seeming to move a muscle, unless he is playing with his recently re-formed psychedelic punk band, Notekillers.

Since 1991 British artist Vicki Bennett has been working across the field of audio-visual collage, and is recognised as an influential and pioneering figure in the still growing area of sampling, appropriation and cutting up of found footage and archives. Working under the name People Like Us, Vicki specialises in the manipulation and reworking of original sources from both the experimental and popular worlds of music, film and radio. People Like Us believe in open access to archives for creative use. In 2006 she was the first artist to be given unrestricted access to the entire BBC Archive. People Like Us have previously shown work at, amongst others, Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, The Barbican, Centro de Cultura Digital, Maxxi and Sonar, and performed radio sessions for John Peel and Mixing It. She has an ongoing sound art radio show ‘DO or DIY’ on WFMU. The People Like Us back catalogue is available for free download hosted by UbuWeb. In 2015 Vicki completed a new A/V performance CITATION CITY, a project using techniques of Walter Benjamin’s Arcades Project in relation to London-based feature films. This premiered at transmediale Berlin, and Flatpack Film Festival Birmingham UK. Nothing Can Turn Into A Void – a documentary film about People Like Us has been screening in cinemas and festivals since Autumn 2015. Currently, Vicki is focussing on expanding both audio and moving image work for a multiscreen and multi-speakered environment with Recombinant Media Labs, and the new Expanded Radio commission Optimized! broadcast on WFMU in June 2016. Her most recent commission No One Is An Island, for WDR, broadcast on 9 April 2016.

QUASI UNA FANTASIA is a duo including La Diva Christina and Pierre-Jean Vranken influenced by the minimalism and by composers such as Feldman and Cage

With three albums and several smaller releases and splits, Undergang have since 2008 been playing a lot of shows both nationally and across Europe, North America, Japan, Australia, Russia and so forth.  2017 will also offer the release of Undergang’s 4th studio album to be released by Me Saco Un Ojo records (LP) and Dark Descent records (CD) in June.
A new death/ grindcore band from Finland. They recorded in 2015
« Horrid Tales of Death… » EP and 2016 « Rehearsal Tape ’16 ».

Legendary drummer Tony Buck will share stage with eclectic
experimental bass player Massimo Pupillo for a set of free jazz, experimental and noise.

Thank you for your time and for reading.

Please contact me if you want to set up a concert for one of the bands/artists.

The Kawa Brothers are heirs to a musical tradition that has been passed down in the family for seven generations, and which originates in Rajasthan(Gokulpura). Mosin Kawa (tablas), Shahid Kawa (vocals and harmonium) and Yunus Kawa (sarangi) were born in Jaipur, and were trained by their father, Ustad Shabbir Ahmed, and their grandfather, the famous Ustad Bashir Khan. They count in their family of musicians like Ustad Sultan Khan, sarangi player known worldwide with which Yunus also studied. The Kawa Brothers gave many concerts, both in India and in Europe in recent years, Mosin Kawa, artistic director of the group, also has to his credit numerous collaborations with renowned artists from the jazz and world international music scene, as Khaled, Omar Sosa, David Murray, Vincent Segal.

A theatrical show ? Atypical, certainly. What Denis Lavant and François R. Cambuzat looked for is neither the good word, nor the nicest rhyme nor the satisfaction of the beautiful souls, but this magnificent savagery, this loss of one in surge, this gypsy and universal duende so close to the Sufism and so dear to Federico Garcia Lorca, without which everything – the beauty, the technique, the apparire – is totally and perfectly useless.
The music is not improvised, but written and of steel, in structures faithful and merciless as decades without bread. It is the basis, the weft on the which the revolt rests. François R. Cambuzat welded the arrangements, Gianna Greco milled the sub-basses. The compositions are evolving to disturb the Voice, to destabilize what was already said, to create other desires – especially for other impulses. Everything will die and reborn. So a Uyghur song can replace a valve, a Turkish Ney would blast a steam machine. Guitars and computers.

Attwenger (formed 1990) is a musical duo from Linz, Austria. The group is made up of drummer Markus Binder and button accordion player Hans-Peter Falkner; both members also sing.
Attwenger’s music is an unusual combination of Upper Austrian folk music and hip-hop, with lyrics sung (and rapped) in Upper Austrian dialect. Falkner often plays his accordion through effects pedals to give his instrument a distorted timbre similar to that of an electric guitar. Binder sometimes uses drum machines.

Stelios Petrakis was born in 1975 and grew up in Sitia, Crete. In 1983 he joined the Sitia School of Music, learning to play the lyra under teachers Giannis Dandolos (1983), Ross Daly (1984) and Eleni Drettaki (1985-1993), under the directorship of Kostas Moundakis. He completed his “official” lyra studies in 1993.

The renowned Japanese electronic maestro Merzbow [3] (aka Masami
Akita) joins forces with his fellow countryman Keiji Haino [4] and
Hungarian drummer Balazs Pandi [5] on another example of extreme sonic experimentation. Merzbow and Pandi, who have been playing together since 2009, push the envelope once again with improv singer and noise guitarist Haino. The resulting album An Untroublesome Defencelessness is a relentlessly intense cauldron of
caustic power chording, adrenalized blast beats and double bass drum
thunder, and grinding white noise fusillades, courtesy of this fearsome threesome.

Thank you for reading

All the best.

Joe Buck is the stage name of Jim Finklea, an American country and punk rock musician from Murray, Kentucky. His primary instruments are double bass and guitar.  It is a blend of country and newgrass

Daniel Payne, of Lubbock, Texas, is a songwriter of southwest-styled folk-blues and American country gothic.  His music features traditional country influences with an edge for compelling and original storytelling.

Audio visual show.
There are those who howl with derision at the thought of
anyone being hare-brained enough to set up a label specialising in obscure sound art in the midst of a massive recession. Then there are those who record such howlings onto old reel-to-reel tape machines, play them backwards and press the results onto limited edition vinyl. The Fog Signals falls squarely into the latter categroy.

Legendary guitarist/vocalist Guitar Shorty is a giant in the blues world. Credited with influencing both Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy, Guitar Shorty has been electrifying audiences for five decades with his supercharged live shows and his incendiary recordings. Like a bare knuckled boxer, Shortystrikes with his blistering, physical guitar playing and his fierce vocals, connecting directly with body and soul.
Guitar Shorty and Roberto Morbioli, both masters of improvisation and unpredictable, off-the-wall guitar playing, will set the audience on fire!

Seamus Cater mixes new song writing and contemporary acoustic music. His 2016 album, The Three Things You Can Hear, released on the Lebanese imprint Annihaya Records, draws on revivalist folk music and 60s minimalism as source material. Playing a duet concertina as accompaniment for voice, he searches for spectral sonic connections between these two sources and his songs are noted for their conceptual narratives, often reinforced with musical parallels. The Three Things You Can hear includes collaborations with several Berlin based musicians and groups; Koen Nutters, Johnny Chang and Morten J. Olsen and The International Nothing. TTTYCH was featured by Verity Sharp on BBC Radio 3s Late Junction. His highly intimate and hypnotic solo performances adapt to spaces as different as living rooms, rock clubs, churches and concert halls.
Past releases include The Anecdotes (2012), with Viljam Nybacka and When We Get to Meeting (2010), with Woody Sullender. Seamus organises Nearly Not There Records, the DNK-Amsterdam concert series and as DNK Ensemble makes performance pieces and compositions with Koen Nutters. Recently he has performed works by Antoine Beuger, Ryoko Akama and Michael Pisaro and will take part in the 2017 Amsterdam Wandelweiser Festival.

MDME SPKR make and create the most unique and hard real punk music around -why you might ask ?because they pander to no one are lyrically poignant and above all do not have an identikit look that would appeal to the neurosis of a scene or the desire to be in one which what was punk was all about originally -this is a true organic band all on it’s own beautiful axis all 100% DIY- the music speaks for itself hard and visceral,i’ve said enough.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for your time and for reading.

All the best.

Musician and composer Jimi Tenor has never settled for the traditional role of a pop artist. He is known as a productive musician whose work lies beyond current trends, and also as a performer who combines the finest elements of afro-american music, spontaneous silliness and shameless glamour in an original way.

Luzmila Carpio is a representative of the autochthonous music and soul of Bolivian people. She learned the daily songs of the Quechua and Aymara indigenous peoples that inhabit the mountains and valleys of Northern Potosí in Bolivia as a small child. There she learned the meaning of sounds (the wind, the birds, the river, the echo of her own shouts to the winding cliffs) and voices (in rituals and fiestas of the people) and more importantly the connection between music and the well being of human beings and Mother Earth.
Then she went to Paris where her musical evolution continued: from her popular songs in Spanish to her songs in Quechua to her Sacred Songs of international, universal quality. The aim, to foster peace amongst men and between man and nature.

Baleine 3000 is a trio composed of local producer Lawrence Le Doux, France’s DJ Afrojaws, and Japan’s Illreme (who most recently released a single of lush modern disco via Mister Saturday Night). This international coalition came together by chance when Le Doux was introduced to Osaka’s Illreme while searching for a Japanese rapper in the late 2000s. Le Doux sent over some of his productions and Illreme, real name Jun Kamoda, wrote in spurts blending his native tongue with English. The pair met up at different times to work together but the tracks disappeared inside Le Doux’s hard drive, forgotten until one of the Vlek founders stumbled across them and recognised the genius within. And so, Baleine 3000 is back after six years with a 7-track EP compiled by Afrojaws.

Taku Sugimoto is a Japanese guitarist.
He initially gained attention in the late 1990s for his restrained, melodic playing, unusual in the world of free improvisation. Critic Bruce Russell describes this era of Sugimoto’s music by writing: « Sugimoto is perhaps the pre-eminent stylist on the guitar … He brings a golden glow to every session he partakes in, having abandoned amped up noise in favour of a much more introspective and calligraphic style of play.

Japanese vocalist Junko Hiroshige’s murderous wail hypercubes Patty Waters, Yoko Ono, and the titular victim in Olivia de Havilland’s 1972 crime flick The Screaming Woman, while Yves Botz, Thierry Delles, and Michel Henritzi extend the trad power trio into a Marclay mash with brutal rock’n’roll energies. The Dustbreeders formed in the late ’80s around the concept of anti-records, performances, exhibitions and other oblique strategies.

USA Nails are a London based noise rock band, brought to you by Derry based Smalltown America, who are one of those labels who can apparently do no wrong. Featuring current and ex-members of Silent Front, Oceansize, KONG and Hawk Eyes, Sonic Moist is their debut and it’s a snarling beast of an album. All of the songs were recorded live, in a single day, which is an incredible feat, and the energy of the album truly captures the spirit of a live performance.

Alterations – David Toop, Peter Cusack, Terry Day and Steve Beresford – is a quartet of key thinkers and pioneers in music and visual arts. They played many concerts in the years 1977 to 1986 and came back together last year for one very successful concert. The group existed from 1977 to 1986 and played often in festivals and clubs throughout the UK and Europe. Their work presented new ways of making and understanding music and art.

AZZURILLO is an accidentally odd sounds composer and “one girl band“ performer.
During her live sets she disguises herself without reserve and with a mocking snigger on her face she sings with scrambled voices, grooves, guitar. All supported by insane objects animation video projection.

British songwriter Emily Portman draws on folklore, fairy tales and mythology to craft haunting, ethereal songs that weave the otherworldly with the everyday.
English folk comes no more enchanted than Emily Portman’s delicately sung tales, in which nature, faerie and human sensibilities bleed seamlessly into one another. This collection of self-penned songs finds a lost loved one grafted into an apple tree, a “hill king” encountered in a neolithic cave, and babies abandoned in birds’ nests (motherhooincluding postnatal blues, is a theme).

Af Ursin is the solo music project of Timo van Luijk. Born in Finland (1967) and living in Belgium where he works as autodidact sound instrumentalist/composing improviser, photographer and printmaker. He started improvising in the mid 80’s and formed, together.
