BOOKING OFFERS: PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN, GLITTER WIZARD

Posted in Uncategorized on décembre 16, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I am booking some dates of GLITTER WIZARD and PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN. GLITTER WIZARD (USA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drbGNEqZlbI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QMM_gzM0l0 Territory: Belgium Availability: 10th and 11th April 2014 PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN (UK-USA) http://www.nme.com/nme-video/youtube/id/liol5wQpupA/search/ Territory: Europe Availability: Berween 5th and 15th June 2014 GLITTER WIZARD In our ongoing quest to exhume every artifact of 60s and 70s proto metal, we recently stumbled up on San Francisco’s Glitter Wizard. For a moment, it seemed that we unearthed a forgotten gem, as Hunting Gatherers, the band’s sophomore album, could be easily mistaken for a long lost album from the early 70s. In our hazy minds’ imagination, the band shared the stage with Steppenwolf, Bloodrock, Black Widow, The Stooges or Iron Butterfly, but Glitter Wizard‘s trippy, swinging sound — replete with catchy riffs, amusing lyrics and space-age keyboards, sax and flutes — isn’t some kind of Nuggets discovery, they are here and now. Here’s a band that manages to combine the aforementioned influences in new ways as their space-glitter-glam-blues-garage-psych-sound is created from old elements, but combined into something so decidedly different, that it leaves their proto-metal roots far behind. All their songs sport a slightly different take on glam-rock, but it is clear that this is a band that loves to jam in the garage on a Saturday night, extending their glam into prog and space rock jams, before they rockingly traverse the riff-filled land with bong in hand, planting riffs in minds as they go along. PHIL MINTON/AUDREY CHEN AUDREY CHEN is a Chinese-American musician who was born into a family of material scientists, doctors and engineers, outside of Chicago in 1976. Parting ways with the family convention, she turned to the cello at age 8 and voice at 11. After years of classical and conservatory training in both instruments, with a resulting specialization in early and new music, she parted ways again in 2003 to begin new negotiations with sound in order to discover a more individually honest aesthetic. Now, using the cello, voice and analog electronics, Chenfs work delves deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. A large component of her music is improvised and her approach to this is extremely personal and visceral. Her playing explores the combination and layering of a homemade analog synthesizer, preparations and traditional and extended techniques in both the voice and cello. She works to join these elements into a singular ecstatic personal language. PHIL MINTON: Phil Minton comes from Torquay. He played trumpet and sang with the Mike Westbrook Band in the early 60s- Then in dance and rock bands in Europe for the later of part of the decade. He returned to England in 1971, rejoining Westbrook and was involved in many of his projects until the mid 1980Œs. For most of the last forty years, Minton has been working as a improvising singer in lots of groups, orchestras, and situations, all over the place. Numerous composers have written music especially for his extended vocal techniques. He has a quartet with Veryan Weston, Roger Turner and John Butcher, and ongoing duos, trios and quartets with above and many other musicians. Thanks for reading. I would like to hear from you asap. The name of the group was taken from a list of fictional sixties bands written by Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond.[3] Terminal Cheesecake were the first group to sign to Wiija Records – their debut record, 1988’s « Bladdersack » EP was also the first release on the label. Two albums for Wiija followed in 1989.[4] The band recorded a John Peel Session in April 1990.[5] This was followed by a third album, Angels In Pigtails which was released on Kevin Martin’s Pathological label and described by rock critic Simon Reynolds as « an epic of ruination ».[6] Russell Smith of the group was also a member of noise rock band Skullflower and one hit sampling wonders MARRS.[7] Terminal Cheesecake ceased activity in 1995.[8] The group reformed in 2013 with Neil Francis from the band Gnod replacing Boniface as vocalist. STEVIE WISHART Stevie Wishart is a composer, performer and improviser. She explores medieval and contemporary extremes, using voices, ancient technologies such as the hurdy gurdy, and electronic music technologies of our own time. She has composed for modern orchestras and vocal groups and for her own group, Sinfonye. As a composer she works acoustically with music notation, sometimes combined with improvisation, sometimes using computer music systems, and sometimes using all these elements. BOOKING OFFERS: OVO / GNAW / BLINDED THORNS

Posted in Uncategorized on décembre 10, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I’m booking some dates for GNAW / OVO + BLIND THORNS. GNAW (USA) https://soundcloud.com/user3105090/sets/gnaw-horrible-chamber/s-CGhrd Availability: 26th April 2014 Territory: France + Belgium OVO (Italy) http://ovomusic.bandcamp.com Availability: 26th April 2014 Territory: France + Belgium BLIND THORNS (Usa/Switzerland) https://soundcloud.com/blindthorns/sets/blind-thorns Availability: Between 10th and 25th May 2014 Territory: Europe GNAW New York’s favorite malignant noise instigators and recent Seven Rule signees, GNAW, will unleash the diseased fruit of their sonic discontent this October. GNAW is the maniacal anti-creation of Alan Dubin (Khanate, Old, O.L.D.), Carter Thornton (Enos Slaughter), Jun Mizumachi (Ike Yard), Brian Beatrice and Eric Neuser. Together they’ve manifested a terrifyingly claustrophobic, seven-track journey of sound where the collective sentiments of fear, trauma, rage and repugnance collide into a cathartic state of brooding, audio disease. Fittingly titled, Horrible Chamber, the follow-up to 2009’s This Face, which Exclaim! proclaimed “noisy, demented and twistedly glorious,” and The Obelisk crowned “extreme, experimental and sonically unpleasant,” was recorded at Seizures Palace by Jason Lefarge (Swans, Akron/Family, Khanate, Angels Of Light), mixed by Brian Beatrice at AudioEngineand mastered by James Plotkin (OLD, Scorn Khanate, Khlyst etc).with additional elements recorded by Beatrice, Dubin, Thornton, and Mizumachi in various chambers. OVO Biographie OvO is a project involving music and life. Stefania Pedretti (also singer of Allun and solo performer aka ?Alos) and Bruno Dorella (also performing in bands as Ronin and Bachi da Pietra, former drummer of Wolfango and Bugo and manager of Bar La Muerte Records), together in life as well, decided to create OvO in order to go on playing and travel together. Actually, OvO is first of all a tour band, a specific choice which made them moving throughout Europe and North America from 2001 until present, with stops in Mexico and Turkey, performing more than 500 concerts in 6 years. Their first album “Assassine” (2001) and the second “Vae Victis” (2002) as well were produced by Bar La Muerte and could boast the contribution of guests and friends. After the splits with Rollerball and KK Null, OvO definitively became a duo and the change was marked by the issue of their third album “Cicatrici” (2004), a co-production of Bar La Muerte and Ebria Records. In 2006 the work “Miastenia” was released under the prominent American label Load Records, the crowning achievement of several tours in the States. BLIND THORNS Consisting of Shane Perlowin and Ryan Oslance, guitar and drums of Ahleuchatistas, with Antoine Läng / voice and electronics, BLIND THORNS is a trio of experimental improvised music influenced by no-wave, kraut / psychedelic, noise, electroacoustic and ethnic folklore to produce a primal and intense music that invokes deep sentiments and global activation. I hope to hear from you asap. Thank you for reading. Regards. Alain
