BOOKING OFFER: BABY DEE + LITTLE ANNIE

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 29, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I am booking some dates for LITTLE ANNIE + BABY DEE. Open dates: between 18th and 20th May 2013 Territory: Belgium http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvASDVyY3ns Little Annie aka Annie Anxiety Bandez, is a smokey contralto, raconteur and restless spirit who has spent the last 30 years creating a body of work that would take much more space than available here to list. Since stepping onto her first stage at the age of 16, her music – and her life – has defied categorization, limitations and/or restrictions her life often imitating her art and visa versa. A native New Yorker she is a chanteuse and lyricist, a self-taught painter, and multimedia artist, She has recorded with vanguard figures of late twentieth century music -bringing a blend of tortured soul/ sardonic humor & wild love & awe of life to tracks she’s cut with everyone from Adrian Sherwood & the ON-U Sound Stable to Crass to Current 93, COIL, The Wolfgang Press, Jennie Mathias, Anthony Hegarty to Marc Almond. She is a prolific songwriter who has written for likes of the late Bim Sherman, Paul Oakenfold and most recently Living Color. She is a published author and a stage and screen actress. 2007 saw the release of SONGS FROM THE COAL MINE CANARY produced by aforementioned Antony Hegarty (of The Johnsons) and Joe Buedenholzer (Backworld) for Dutro Jnana/Southern. (“Strange Love”, from this LP, was featured in an award winning advert for Levis Jeans.) WHEN GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO BAD PIANOS, a starkly powerful collection of re-imagined standards and covers, quickly followed and saw the creative relationship between Annie and Mr. Paul Wallfisch finally made legit and committed to record. In early 2012, after literally years in the ‘we have to work together stage’, Annie joined up with her dear friend Baby Dee. « Completely different and completely brilliant » Evening Standard « A quiet beguiling beauty » Independent On Sunday « Startlingly affecting stuff » 4/5 Attitude Baby Dee is an enchanting composer, performance artist, classically trained harpist, circus sideshow veteran, and transgender street legend. Baby Dee was born in 1953 in Cleveland, OH. Known originally for playing harp on Anthony & The Johnsons debut album – it was Hegarty who sent Dee’s compositions to David Tibet (Current 93) who urged her to produce a solo album. Tibet later went on to release Baby Dee’s first album on his label Durtro. Dee’s discography now includes seven albums released in the last ten years. Her infectious cackle and extraordinary talent on piano, harp and accordion has caught her many musical admirers. Her sound is quintessentially Dee. I look forward to hearing from you asap. Regards. BOOKING OFFER: ANDREA PARKINS

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 25, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I am booking some solo dates for ANDREA PARKINS. She’s available from 25th April 2013 onwards. http://soundcloud.com/andreaparkins Andrea Parkins is composer, sound/installation artist and electroacoustic musician who engages with interactive electronics as a compositional/performative process, and explores strategies related to Fluxus’ ordered, yet ephemeral activities. An integral participant of the New York sound art and experimental music scene, and worldwide – she is especially known for her uniquely gestural/textural approach to her electronically-processed accordion and customized live sound processing. Her laptop electronics and Fender-amped accordion create a sonic field of lush harmonics, noisy concretized disruption, and soaring electronic feedback. As a sound artist and composer, Parkins’ works includes electroacoustic solo and ensemble pieces, dance and film scores, electronic music works, and multi-diffusion installations featuring amplified objects that are found or made. This work has been presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Kitchen, Diapason, and Experimental Intermedia; and arts spaces/festivals worldwide, including Mexico City’s First International Sound Art festival; Unsound in Krakow; NEXT in Bratislava; and Cyberfest 2011 in St. Petersburg. Parkins also records and performs internationally as a solo artist and in collaborations with innovators such as Otomo Yoshihide, David Watson, John Butcher, Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, and Lê Quan Ninh, among many others; and she has appeared on more than 50 recordings on labels including hatology, Important Records, and Atavistic. Recent activities: In 2010, Parkins was invited to perform her interpretations of Christian Marclay’s graphic scores at Whitney Museum’s retrospective festival of the artist/composer’s work, and she was commissioned to create a live dance score for The Body Cartography’s new work, Symptom. She also toured throughout Europe with Portuguese choreographer Vera Mantero who commissioned Parkins’ live score for We Are Going to Miss Everything We Don’t Need. In 2011 , her work has been featured as part of Independent Curators International’s traveling sound art exhibition, « With Hidden Noise, » (along with works by Pauline Oliveros and Steve Roden) and in the « Lingua Franca » sound art exhibition at Cyberfest 2011 in St. Petersburg, Russia. She also created sound for digital artist Yael Kanarek’s video, « Heavenly, So Long » that was exhibited at NYC’s Flux Factory. Currently, she is touring in support of her recent Important Records CD, FAULTY (BROKEN ORBIT). On an ongoing basis, Parkins develops her primary performance project, a series of interactive audio/visual works inspired by Rube Goldberg’s circuitous machines. Her work has received support from American Composers Forum, NYSCA, the French-American Cultural Exchange, Meet the Composer, Harvestworks, and the Frei und Hanseastadt Hamburg Kulturbehoerde in Germany. Have a nice week-end. I look forward to hearing from you asap. Regards. BOOKING OFFER: SIGHTINGS

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 23, 2013 by debloque
Dear all,

I am booking some dates for SIGHTINGS.
They are available on 9th April, 29th and 30th April 2013.

This offer is for Belgium only.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOtqHBmVn_M

Name any rock band and chances are you can connect its music back to some
formal antecedent--Chuck Berry, the Velvet Underground, the Beatles or
even just the blues. Sightings are unburdened by--even outside of--that
history. The trio's lineup is as basic as they come: drummer, bassist,
guitarist who sings. It's just that those elements seem based on some
intuitive science that the rest of humanity hasn't quite gotten hip to
yet." – Mike Wolf, Time Out New York

Crafting a lasting personal aesthetic in the midst of our ephemeral music
culture is as rare as it is cause for celebration. With the release of
City of Straw Brooklyn's Sightings can be counted among the few
contemporary bands who have forged a unique voice amongst the racket.

Recorded over a number of months in 2009 at The Ocropolis (Oneida's
Brooklyn, NY studio), the band's seventh studio album becomes the crucible
from which their grandest and most coherent statement finally emerges.

Sightings has never presented a particularly welcoming façade and their
sui generis music has perhaps been passed over by less discerning
listeners over the eleven years of their existence, but throughout this
they have created a singular body of work appreciated and touted by the
likes of Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Andrew WK. If you've missed the
boat up until now – City of Straw is the ideal venue to experience the
band's mastery of extreme timbres, astounding instrumental prowess and
yes, extraordinary song-craft.
Sightings will insist (and we agree wholeheartedly) that at their core
they are a rock band working within the context of pop song-craft. As
bassist Richard Hoffman told us recently, "I think everyone in the band
tries to remember the value of minimalism. Ultimately I think we try to
write pop music, where there's no chaff and everything has a place."
With a deep reach beyond the spirit of their influence from greats like
Birthday Party, Dead C and Jesus Lizard, City of Straw finds Sightings
working at the peak of their creative powers and is the perfect
re-introduction to one of New York's most accomplished bands.

I hope to hear from you soon....

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFER: DAVID GRUBBS/ANDREA BELFI/STEFANO PILIA

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 21, 2013 by debloque
Dear all,

I am booking one date only for this amazing trio: DAVID GRUBBS/ANDREA
BELFI/STEFANO PILIA

https://soundcloud.com/stefano-pilia/onrushing-cloud-by-belfi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP5XqqPu8gU

One open date only for Belgium on 8th June 2013.

Although Onrushing Cloud is the first recording by this trio, Andrea Belfi
(drums, percussion, electronics), David Grubbs (electric guitar, voice,
piano) and Stefano Pilia (electric guitar) share a common bond in that
they've all released solo works via the Swedish label, Hapna. On this
album Grubbs and Pilia combine instrumental forces while Belfi sets out a
backdrop of highly sensitive percussion and electronics. The outcome is a
single, half-hour, flowing body of work that's indexed into five distinct
tracks. After minimal beginnings that string together loose guitar pitches
and light, jostling percussive noises, the album settles into a kind of
slowed down, soft-focus post-rock sound during the latter stages of
'Hermitage', leading into an absorbing and distinctly more abstract
electronic section during the Belfi-dominated 'Nitrate Out', featuring all
manner of subtle electroacoustic trickery and clever rhythmic
manipulations. You might find yourself reminded of The Necks' brand of
avant-jazz during album centrepiece, 'City Rats On Mountain Pass', only
for Grubbs to dramatically switch the tone by firing up his larynx for the
excellent esoteric rock droner 'Onrushing Cloud'. After all this, the
album draws itself to a close with the trio channelling their energies
into ten minute finale 'Lightning Vault', forming awkwardly beautiful
shapes by throwing together fuzz-strangulated guitar drones, martial drum
patterns and delicate, fractured electronics.

I look forward to hearing from you asap.

Regards.

Alain

Dear all,

I am booking some dates for LAU NAU.
She's available either solo or with her band.

Availability: from 17th May 2013 onwards.

launau.com

Lau Nau is a moniker for the free spirited Finnish artist Laura
Naukkarinen. Since the release of her celebrated debut full length album
Kuutarha on Chicago’s Locust Music in 2005, and the follow up Nukkuu
(Locust, Fonal 2008), Lau Nau has enjoyed considerable recognition for her
intimate and playful blend of ethnic tinged experimental folk songs. In
recent years, her live shows have earned her a special place among a
legion of fans. This was further cemented when a Lau Nau performance in
Philadelphia was counted among The Wire magazine’s “60 Concerts that shook
the world” in its February, 2007 issue.
As a live performer, Laura has enjoyed opportunities to perform in a wide
array of venues from various contemporary art centres and small informal
spots like Tokyo's Super Deluxe to larger spaces like New York’s Anthology
Film Archives and Knitting Factory, Bush Hall in London, Palais de Tokyo
in Paris, Shanghai world expo and the Avanto festival in Helsinki.
She is also known for playing live musical scores to silent films with
Matti Bye ensemble, for example "Häxan" and "L'heureuse mort" in Castro
Theatre, San Francisco Silent Film Festival. She has done music for Magnum
photo, Daido Moriyama's exhibition, documentary films, tv-series and dance
pieces. Recently Lau Nau has been active making sound installations.
Naukkarinen has been an active presence in the Finnish underground for the
last decade playing in groups like Kiila, Hertta Lussu Ässä, Päivänsäde,
Avarus and the Anaksimandros, organizing concerts, publishing a magazine
and running a handful of small labels starting with Winter cow, POK and,
more recently, the Peippo label.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Have a nice week end.

BOOKING OFFER: LOUP

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 15, 2013 by debloque
Dear all,

I'm booking one date for LOUP.

http://www.loupduo.fr/

They are available on 22nd March 2013

New duo from 2 Lyon's activists - closely related to Grrrnd Zero and
Gaffer Records .
LOUP sounds like the perfect exemple of this new "made in France" generation
in their search for the establishment of an other "experimental" french
identity.
They then unconsciensly shake things and leave the tradition behind...
LOUP is a mix between free-jazz, drone and noise, captured in a voluntary,
affirmed and exciting flux,
which gave them the opportunity to support bands such as Rangda (Chris
Corsano, Rick Bishop, Ben Chasny)
and The Thing ( Mats Gustafsson's trio) with Otomo Yoshihide; LOUP sounds
definitely right !"

I would like to hear from you asap.

BOOKING OFFER: HAROLD BUDD and ROBIN GUTHRIE

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 14, 2013 by debloque

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for HAROLD BUDD & ROBIN GUTHRIE.

They are available betwen 27th may and 6th June 2013.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr_rW2kpD0c

nquestionably the two masters of sonic beauty, minimalism and modern ambient. We feel there is nothing better than an artist with a sound so completely original and unique unto himself that it is instantly recognizable. This gift is widely acknowledged to be one bestowed on both Mr. Guthrie and Mr. Budd. What’s even more significant, however, is how the signature style of each combine to create a complimentary union so rare and sublime. Since meeting in 1986 when they recorded « The Moon And The Melodies » they have joined occasionally for albums, soundtracks and live performances. Each has forged a very independent music career and become firmly established in his own right. Mr. Budd’s 1984 album « The Pearl », a collaboration with Brian Eno, remains an ambient minimalist milestone that set the scene for a whole generation of copyists. Likewise Mr. Guthrie’s guitar and production work, from his roots in Cocteau Twins, has broken entirely new ground and has had a significant impact on alternative music for over 30 years.

With the twin albums « After The Night Falls » and « Before The Day Breaks »

released in 2006, Mr. Guthrie and Mr. Budd received acclaim without parallel. However, Bordeaux, recorded in the hazy Summer of 2010 in a studio near Bordeaux, France, has a further degree of elegance, poise and sheer breathtaking romance, which shows these two fine gentlemen at their best. Evident, as one would expect, is a maturity, intensity and depth of character, magnificently understated, which no others in the field can even come close to matching. Its dense richness makes Bordeaux a striking work of ambient impressionism. Quite clearly, Mr. Budd and Mr. Guthrie have created one of the most atmospheric and captivating instrumental performances of our time.

I look forward to hearing from you asap.

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFER: NOVI_SAD

Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 9, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I’m booking some dates for NOVI_SAD. He is available between 2nd and 5th March 2013. http://novi-sad.net/ Novi_sad is the guise for Thanasis Kaproulias (b. 1980) who holds a degree from the Economic University of Piraues. He lives and works in Athens, Greece. Influenced by the pioneers of audio assault, he began generating sounds in 2005. No studies, no academic education, no scholarships, just pure learning by doing. Amplified environmental recordings, drone manipulations, structured ambient soundscapes, microtones vs overtones, all come together in a hyper structure of iconoclastic form. Novi_sad’s artistic output displays a high level of technical ability, as well as a sensitivity to the nuances of location. The strength of his soundscapes works in the same elaborateness for the whole creation process, starting from a basis of very strong conceptualism, the intense examinationof field recordings over the actual composition work, to the point of performing back the result onto location. Every sound that occurs is treated with a sculptural integrity and his sonic power operates on a level in which the audience participates as transcendental listeners. Novi_sad is the mutated body that stands on the tips of it’s toes to look over a wall of white noise. It reaches the edge, almost getting a glimpse of what is on the other side. It almost sees. And when it almost sees, then it hears. And when it hears, it hears the sudden attack of static. And as it hears it looks: the sky is static and falls like a sonic ceiling collapsing on its sole inhabitant: Novi_sad. Novi_sad is the sound of the shadow of the body that faces the wall of sound. The mutated body steps back from the wall. It is not a wall, it is a mirror. The mutated body looks at itself. It sees: an open mouth that is shouting to itself and is not heard, it sees closed ears bleeding for themselves that do not hear. It says: lift sonic ceilings up over my head, push them up over the sky, as far as my arms can reach, as far as my eyes can see. I hope to hear from you asap. Regards.
