BOOKING OFFERS: JACKIE-O-MOTHERFUCKER and TALIBAM!

Posted in Uncategorized on septembre 27, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I’m booking some dates for JACKIE-O-MOTHERFUCKER and TALIBAM! JACKIE-O-MOTHERFUCKER (USA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkGhiJTcGiU Availability: March or April 2014 Territory: Europe TALIBAM! (USA) http://talibam.bandcamp.com/ Availabilities: two periods from 24th February and from 30th March 2014 onwards. Territory: Europe JACKIE-O-MOTHERFUCKER Jackie-O Motherfucker is an American experimental music group that formed in Portland, Oregon in 1994. Jackie-O Motherfucker began as a duo consisting of multi-instrumentalist Tom Greenwood and saxophonist Nester Bucket.[1] The group has had more than forty members drawn from the U.S. experimental scene. As of 2008, the core of the group is founding member Greenwood. Jackie-O Motherfucker’s music draws from a variety of subgenres including various folk musics of the world (American folk and blues, Native American song, Traditional English folk ballads, etc.), drone, free jazz, and space-rock, and is heavily improvisational in its nature. Because they are a collective, rather than a consistent band or group, the sound of their music can change from performance to performance. The group operates its own label of CD-R live recordings, the U-Sound Archive, which features concert recordings from Jackie-O Motherfucker as well as like-minded subterranean artists such as Double Leopards, Sunroof!, Decaer Pinga, and Vibracathedral Orchestra. TALIBAM! Talibam! was conceived by synth player Matt Mottel and drummer Kevin Shea in 2003. They have been a hard working band with 25 album releases since ’05, 20 tours of Europe since ’06, and interdisciplinary collaborations with musicians Rhys Chatham, Alan Wilkinson, Daniel Carter, Jon Irabagon, and Cooper-Moore as well as working along side Karole Armitage’s Armitage Gone! Dance company. They have performed for the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s River to River Festival, at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Kitchen in NYC, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and other world renown festivals and clubs.New York duo Talibam! might be remembered in a variety of ways: as a classic keys/drums free jazz duo, as obnoxious Dadaist provocateurs with an uncanny sense of musical history, as members of the D.I.Y. Brooklyn underground. Given their name and occasionally lo-fi surrealism, they might also be just as easily written off as goofballs, but keyboardist Matthew Mottel and drummer Kevin Shea could never be accused of slacking. Mottel, raised in Manhattan and present on the downtown jazz scene as a teenager, crossed paths with Shea, born in Pittsburgh, in Brooklyn, members of the first generation of the post-downtown jazz diaspora. Their earliest CD-Rs were packaged in cut-up Bruce Springsteen LP jackets and sounded, despite the attitude, like the groove-heavy organ trio Medeski, Martin & Wood. They toured and worked frequently, playing multiple times a week in New York in a way that was almost unthinkable in that era, moving between under-the-radar Brooklyn parties and the dwindling Manhattan jazz scene, including Tonic. Some releases came packaged in folded-up pages from Vice magazine, or blasted with spray paint, sometimes to the point of making the CD-Rs unplayable. Boogie in the Breeze Blocks Collaborations were frequent, including live work the Karole Armitage dance company, trumpet player and sometimes bandmember Ed Bear, free jazz saxophonist Daniel Carter (on 2009′s The New Nixon Tapes), and others. Their live show was a spastic attack of obscene improvised comedy, song fragments, and start-stop free jams. In 2009, the duo signed with the legendary New York avant-garde label ESP-Disk and recorded Boogie in the Breeze Blocks, which realized Mottel and Shea’s surreal vision with a rich palette of horns, vocalists, guitars, studio layerings, skits, and field recordings. Active by themselves as well, Mottel worked with the USA Is a Monster founder Colin Matthews in the CSC Funk Band, and Shea toured with bassist Moppa Elliott’s Mostly Other People Do the Killing. Quite enjoy your week end. All the best. Alain Some Noise C/O Alain Bolle PO BOX 43 1050 Brussels 5 Belgium info@somenoise.be https://debloque.wordpress.com http://www.lesateliersclaus.com

BOOKING OFFERS: SENSATIONAL MEETS KOYXEN and HYPO & EDH

Dear all, I’m booking SENSATIONAL MEETS KOYXEN and HYPO & EDH. SENSATIONAL MEETS KOYXEN (USA) https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v6m68kiw3yqiqec/VHFAe0Il6m Availabilities: November 14th, 15th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th Territory: Belgium HYPO & EDH (France) http://hypoedh.bandcamp.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xihoXSI_4WA Availability: last week of January 2014 Territory: Europe SENSATIONAL MEETS KOYXEN NHK’s Kouhei Matsunaga aka Koyxen and marble-mouthed maverick MC Sensational have released albums on Wordsound and SKAM records. The pair have credentials like few others, counting collaborations with the Jungle Brothers, Mika Vainio, Merzbo + loads more, making for the most engaging marriage of styles in their live performance. The beats are strictly top drawer business, Kouhei dropping his more f**ked-up or avant-garde inclinations to keep the flow dope and carefully controlled for Sensational’s disjointed verbal acrobatics, the two gelling like concrete powder and water. HYPO & EDH Electronic cold wave death disco electronic electronica experimental rock gothic lounge pop Paris. I hope to hear from you asap. Regards. Alain

BOOKING OFFERS: CLARA MOTO / ROSCOE MITCHELL

Posted in Uncategorized on septembre 23, 2013 by debloque
Dear all,

I am booking some dates for CLARA MOTO and ROSCOE MITCHELL.

CLARA MOTO (Austria)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XgPDzLM-hQ
Availability: 24th and 25th January 2014
Territory: Belgium

ROSCOE MITCHELL (USA)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKWvCrRh52U
Availability: 29th + 30th January + February 1st-2nd-3rd,
18th-19th-20th-23rd-24th-25th
Territory: Belgium

CLARA MOTO
French label Infine has been home to recent 12"s from Apparat, but now
shifts its attention from established talents to newcomers. Clara Moto is
an alumnus of the Red Bull Music Academy. Quite what the ramifications of
that are, I have no idea - hardly offers the same sort of gravitas as a
residency at IRCAM though does it? Regardless, 'Glove Affair' is a nifty
piece of deconstructed killer techno, with some interesting, unstable
synthesis at its heart. 'Pale Fire' has slightly more bass presence but
retains an economical, spacious approach to production, whilst final cut
'Three Minutes' stokes up a baroque atmospheric dynamism, with brooding,
intricate electronic melodies. If you've ever Clara's immense live set
you'll know just how good this'll be...

ROSCOE MITCHELL
Roscoe Mitchell (born August 3, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois) is an
African-American composer, jazz instrumentalist and educator, mostly known
for being "a technically superb — if idiosyncratic — saxophonist."[1] He
has been called "one of the key figures" in avant-garde jazz who has been
"at the forefront of modern music" for the past thirty years.[2][3] He
continues "to be a major figure."[1] He has even been called a "super
musician"[3][4] and the New York Times has mentioned that he "qualifies as
an iconoclast."[5]

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards.

BOOKING OFFERS: VLADISLAV DELAY + SNEERS

Posted in Uncategorized on septembre 20, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I am booking some dates for VLADISLAV DELAY and SNEERS. VLADISLAV DELAY (Finland) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWxQuubGTV0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5ZjY4M6Tvw Availability: On request. Territory: Belgium SEERS (Germany) https://luna.agora.eu.org/mail/src/webmail.php Availability: from late February till mid March 2014 Territory: Europe VLADISLAV DELAY Vladislav Delay is one of the pseudonyms of Sasu Ripatti (born 1976), a Finnish electronic musician. He has also recorded as Luomo, Sistol, Uusitalo and Conoco. Sasu has been involved in the ambient music, glitch, house, and techno genres. His method of track production involves a mixture of synthesizing, vocal recording and live reprocessing. Many tracks have an organic feeling that pervades through rolling, dubby basslines and vocal snippets. His partner is Antye Greie, with whom he has collaborated. Their daughter was born in 2006. Sasu has released EPs and albums on labels such as Raster-Noton, Force Tracks, Chain Reaction, Mille Plateaux, Resopal, and Sigma Editions. He also founded the Finnish music label Huume Recordings. From 2009 onwards Ripatti has been performing drums and percussion in the Moritz von Oswald Trio alongside Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer. With the Moritz von Oswald Trio he has released two albums and a live LP. He has also released an album in 2011 with his own experimental jazz/electronic group, the Vladislav Delay Quartet. He was chosen by Animal Collective to perform at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival that they curated in May 2011.[1] Musical style Ripatti’s music is renowned for its sophisticated textural qualities. His sonic approach relies heavily on a semi-random element, and many undulating, complementary and sometimes conflicting layers interplay throughout most of his music. A de-constructive element is sometimes detected within the music as Ripatti makes comment on established genres within his various releases. Characteristic traits within Ripatti’s music are sometimes a deep or bubbling synth-bass line, fractured and syncopated percussion – often placed freely within the music, long delay repetitions of various sounds, syncopated use of vocal samples, and complicated digital effect processing techniques. Generally, the music has a very spacious and organic sound, and albums such as « Anima » feature a very simple theme repeated with an array of musical and rhythmical interjections. Ripatti releases under different names have conceptually varied, but have sonically related qualities; this may be due to Ripatti’s different composition techniques. Uusitalo releases are often anchored by a house beat and highlight rhythmic variation (see 2007’s Karhunainen). Vladislav Delay releases, on the other hand (see 2000’s Multila), explore rhythmically sparse, experimental and ambient techno-dub soundscapes. Works under the Luomo name feature uncommonly wrought dance-floor ready vocal house. Sasu Ripatti often references himself within his music. The « Vapaa Muurari » album, for example, has an instrumental track (« Social Selection ») that was re-mixed or re-recorded as the track « The Right Wing » on the « Vocalcity » album. Similarly, the track « Tessio » on the « Vocalcity » album was re-recorded for the « Present Lover » album in 2003. I hope to hear from you asap. Enjoy your week end. Regards. Alain SEERS SNEERS. is an italian psychedelic-soul-uplifting noise project born in Berlin in 2011, whose gestation ripens and proliferates in several clubs of the city. After one year and a half, the duo move back to Italy to play several shows in many cities such as Rome, Florence, Bologna, Turin and Naples. The project is based on the pursuit of expression through experimental sounds (like a drum synth which modifies the snare’s waves, and a looped violin) and is composed of the guitar player and singer Maria Greta, and the drummer Leonardo Oreste, both of them coming from different music projects active in the previous years (respectively Ginny As Nuisance and Hazey Tapes). SNEERS. screen themselves through their bare sounds, that relate about a degrading crawling in the most recondite canals of human core, digging a ditch of dissonance, in which the notes are researched and repeated with sacredness and compulsiveness. The guitar devotionally groans, among noise instincts and melodies for souls, while drums stand out bleak and savage, with a cold and disarming repetitiveness. The voice, cutting and psychotic, emerges pointy, at times neurotic, at times monotonous to the limit of somnambulism. Lyrics are often unconscious dialogues (between the Man and some entity He is obsessively searching for), expiation prayers, and deconstructive criticisms. In the songs there’s not the indolent selection of a verse and a chorus, but the flow is continuous, with a sequence of variations that ravenous chase each other. As the most natural of attempts to show one’s fierceness amongst the crowd of selfish victims, a sneer is a sneaky and insane defence. They released a five tracks EP in 2012, and then they started their collaboration with Brigadisco Records, a well-known italian underground label, that is producing their first nine tracks LP, “ Zekarjāh”, supposed to be released in vinyls at the beginning of November 2013. ************************************** Some Noise C/O Alain Bolle PO BOX 43 1050 Brussels 5 Belgium info@somenoise.be https://debloque.wordpress.com http://www.lesateliersclaus.com

LYDIA LUNCH’s PUTAN CLUB

Anti-commercial, anti-rock’n’roll, supremely impolite and divinely refined, the Lydia Lunch’s Putan Club is the newest project of one of greatest artists of the XXIth century, a fulminated poet, a violent writer adulated by the new wave of the Americandissacratori-profaners, an outstanding singer of an ardent career, besides that an imperial pain in the neck: Lydia Lunch.

Propelled by the Putan Club, a unit of artistic resistance subtly iconoclastic, a combo armed with a merciless interaction between paintings, graphic arts and determinedly overconfident musical comments, the Lydia Lunch’s Putan Club is a creation wished and organized by the Theatre Garonne, European Stages Network of Toulouse, in March, 2012.

This is not entertainment, either a reading, or a concert : it is a rape, a gang bang, a total dumping -heart, eyes, ears- in the indecency and its incredible beauty. It is the poetry applied to the immediate life, without flowers nor stylistic effects, conjugating its violence, its excesses, its religions, its politics, from sex to drugs and up to the death.

Inexorably, mercilessly and supremely. A sincere experience of extremely savage and wild love.

BOOKING OFFERS: DIRTY FENCES + BLACK BUG

Posted in Uncategorized on septembre 17, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I’m booking some dates for DIRTY FENCES and BLACK BUG BLACK BUG (Sweden) https://soundcloud.com/blackbug Territory: Europe Availability: after 15th January 2014 DIRTY FENCES (USA) http://dirtyfences.bandcamp.com/ Territory: Belgium Availability: 18th, 19th, 20th January 2014 BLACK BUG Black Bud will be a solo project on this tour. A terrifying throb of sinister synthesizers, endless shadows, and mysterious dried blood, this transplanted Swedish band now evading the authorities in Bordeaux, France is a seductively subtle nightmare you won’t be able to pull yourself away from. Breaking out from their insidious debut LP’s screech and grind, the reborn Black Bug carries their torch even further down the dimly-lit well of desperation, creating a far more atmospheric, horror film soundtrack-type feel between it’s gnarled bursts of blown-out Spits-style synthpunk energy. Cold-blooded robotic rhythms permeate every track, ushering in an instant sense of forboding and unsettling visions of the human race, completely overrun by androids with TV screens for faces. But under all the dark animosity, frigid song patterns, and morbid melodies, lies an album of incredible songs destined to haunt your abysmal nights, and chill your bones to no end. The certified degenerate buzz that’s surrounded Black Bug for the past few years has been dangerously bubbling under the surface and toxically spread over a handful of singles and their debut LP, as they have emerged as the truly most demonic and nihilistic of the minimal synth acts of the current suffocating wave. Hailing from the bowels of the Swedish underground, Black Bug are a terrorizing ambient noise duo of questionable origin, existing in a vacuous plane of reality, where simplistic, analog reverberation is the answer to all of life’s questions, and when isn’t it? “Black Bug are a synth punk duo based in Bordeaux, France, and their LP Reflecting the Light is out via Hozac on March 26. On its face, the album features a handful of songs that definitely bring to mind the skate punk of the Spits or the sci-fi garage punch of Mind Spiders. But as “Threads” proves, they can also venture far outside the grips of punk music and straight into the territory of bleak synthesizers. This song sounds like the jittery, minimal, nihilistic descendent of Giorgio Moroder’s Metropolis arrangements. It’s a sound these two do well, especially because with Reflecting the Light, their dark future world is usually tempered by a barrage of fuzz-smothered punk music.” – Pitchfork. DIRTY FENCES Born and raised in Boston, this baby-Stooges quartet is somehow able to throw buckets of mature stank atop their thoroughly steeped-in-garage-rock sound, that clearly defies the collective age of its members. With its Motor City-worthy riffs, bombastic back-beat and a sing-along chorus celebrating life’s delinquent shenannies, Sid is a dream come true for those yearning for unapologetic, balls-out rock n’roll. Raunchy, rousing and oozing dangerously good times, Dirty Fences’ 6-song debut EP comes out April 10th 2012 via Volcom Entertainment. In the meantime, you can find them heading out on an east coast tour January 13th with Cults. For some reason the old adage “lock up your daughters” comes to mind. Which frankly, is what made rock n’ roll so exciting in the first place. I hope to hear from you asap. Regards. TWO APES (Belgium)

ICH BIN NINTENDO

When grindcore leapt out of Birmingham in the mid 80s, like an angry, blood spattered tramp from 28 Days Later, it was initially known for its aggression, sonic shock and demented velocity, not the high end technical proficiency of its musicians. As with every new form, though, the innovators were unfortunately overtaken in popularity by the well-rehearsed refiners. The scene’s original “looseness” made it attractive to other forward-looking musicians such as Cardiacs and John Zorn, though; and so it is in 2013, with Mats Gustafsson’s patronage of the relatively loose but totally groovy Ich Bin N!ntendo. Fukushima power blasts of extremely noisy terror are served with queasy guitar lines played in half and quarter time (which share more kinship with Cpt.

Beefheart or Pussy Galore than Napalm Death) and the Godless noise of Skullflower and Whitehouse. It ends, as all good things do, with polite applause and a fat man screaming in ecstasy. (It’s me, in case you hadn’t

guessed.)

GERMANOTTO YOUTH

Germanotta Youth is a Roman band that was born in July 2008 after a session of improvisation in which they mixed grindcore, breakcore, noise, metal and industrial. Their adventure begins officially with Harvesting of Soul, published by Wallace Records (released in December 2010), and takes its first steps on stage in a European tour in february 2011 after some lucky Italian shows. The band’s aim is to unify the many previous experiences of the musicians, who boast collaborations with Mike Patton, The Melvins, Dälek, The Ex, Peter Brötzmann, Hamid Drake, Ken Vandermark, Nobukazu Takemura, Eugene Chadbourne, Mats Gustafsson, Han Bennink, Fred

Lonberg- Holm, Joe Lally (Fugazi), Amy Denio, Steve MacKay (The Stooges), Mick Harris, FM Einheit, Damo Suzuki, and many others.

TWO APES

I hope to hear from you asap.

Enjoy your week-end.

BLACKIE

One of the biggest hip-hop hooks of last year came from a song far away from any « blazing » hits station. It’s was Houston noise-rapper B L A C K I E All Caps, With Spaces on « Warchild, » off his EP True Spirit and Not Giving a Fuck, when he declared, as the feedback-filled beat temporarily simmered down, « I don’t give a fuck about America, nigga, it kills its youth! » That memorably poignant slogan got stuck in your head because B L A C K I E delivered it with all the conviction in the world, and it even had some of ’90s hip-hop’s ability to just cram a phrase, any phrase, into your brain by sheer force of will. It’s M.O.P. meets Minor Threat on top of an instrumental that Death Grips wish they were gnarly enough to conjure up.

But the sound of B L A C K I E’s new album, GEN, departs from the Kevin Drumm-esque racket that usually backs him up. Save for a few hissing, screeching interludes, GEN is mostly acoustic, consisting of throaty, youthful, sometimes-rhyming shouts, sparsely backed by guitar, bass, piano, horns, and at one point, a whistle. « Radiowaves » begins with pleasant piano, while B L A C K I E screams, backed up by even more screams — like punk-rock crew vocals by way of hip-hop ad-libs; Then a wave of proggy horns swings through, and B L A C K I E responds, growing more fervid in his delivery. It’s an arm hair-raising moment on an album full of them.

I hope to haer from you asap.

Regards.

Booking offers

Posted in Uncategorized on septembre 10, 2013 by debloque

Dear all, I’m booking some dates for AP MUSIK and SNEERS. AP MUSIK (Finland) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V9eQqbBgLE Availability: from mid January 2014. Mostly during week-ends Territory: Europe YANNIS KYRIAKIDES/ANDY MOOR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AN7uPO5nN0 Availability: 25th, 26th, 27th, 29th March 2014 Territory: Europe AP MUSIK Aleksi Perala, aka the talented Finn behind Ovuca, sheds another brilliant load of certified braindance on ‘Mental Union 3′. With a knack for naif alien melody, spherical sound design and the punchiest drums this side of AFX, his sound is a perfect distillation of IDM memes done with humour and skill, hence his close relationship with Rephlex over the years. These 17 tracks are a controlled mind-burst of colourful harmony and supple groove, jackin’ ideas from house, techno, jungle and classic European electronics into his own strange soundworld. And it’s sequenced for a proper, immersive listen, cycling from the space-setting parameters of ‘Highland’ thru strident radiopphonic boogie in ‘Minnie’ thru a run of acid techno bits including the rubbery lather of ‘Carwash’ to sheer braindance delights such as the exquisite ‘Snowfall’ and the lysergic jungle tingle ‘Summer DNB’, before culminating in a run of iced-out electronic beauties strongly recalling Mika Vainio at his purest, but lush rather than vodka-bellied. YANNIS KYRIAKIDES/ANDY MOOR (UK/Greece) At first glance, they have nothing musical in common at all. One is a classically trained composer, the other an autodidact from the rock and punk scene. And yet, the Greek Yannis Kyriakides and the Brit Andy Moor have found one another in rebetika, Greek urban bar music from the turn of the last century, which is sometimes known as Greek blues. There is nothing traditional, however, about the duo. “We deconstruct classics in order to reassemble them again, creating our own thing,”
Andy Moor says. The Londoner moved to the Netherlands to join the legendary punk band The Ex 22 years ago. He encountered rebetika by chance, when he was still part of the band Dog Faced Hermans. “We received many requests for CD swaps, but we were often sent really terrible music, Turkish hard-core, that kind of thing [laughs]. When a Greek contacted me for an exchange, I accepted on the condition that they send me something traditional. That is when I received my first rebetika cassette, 27 years ago. It is wonderful music, I was captivated
instantly!” Yannis Kyriakides may be Greek, but rebetika was never really an important aspect of his work. He is mainly specialised in mixing classical music with modern electronica, and in digital media and multimedia opera. Moor and Kyriakides started covering classic rebetika songs in 2000, using an electric violin, oud, and accordion.
“Traditional stuff, but what was the point, it had all been done before, and much better,” Moor says. “So we started improvising as a duo, on guitar and electronica, with live sampling.” Constant experimentation Deconstruct and reassemble, that is what the duo does with their favourite rebetika songs. “I pick a song and send it to Yannis. He then puts it in his magic machine,” Moor says. “I’m not sure exactly how he does it. He makes samples of the songs, stretches the music, reworks it into a new musical foundation on which I then compose one or two melodies on guitar. We take that as a starting point and start improvising on it. Live, he samples me the whole time, adding another element we can play with. Consequently, no two concerts are ever the same and we never
really know what to expect, which is really exciting!” I hope to hear from you asap. Regards. Alain Some Noise C/O Alain Bolle PO BOX 43 1050 Brussels 5 Belgium info@somenoise.be https://debloque.wordpress.com http://www.lesateliersclaus.com
