JE DOUBLE F
What the fuck is punk inspired hip hop? JE Double F hails from Atlantic City, NJ and his latest album “Songs For The Sleep Deprived” is the answer to the previous question. Riddled with samples from old movies, unconventional beats and occasional inclusion of rock elements JE Double F is definitely a hip hop act but the attitude and overall demeanor of his personal on the album is where the punk side comes out on this recording. It’s a truly original style dreamed up and executed unlike any other music style I’ve heard in the Philadelphia are to date!

SLEEP BEGGAR
Sleep Beggar are the forerunners of experimental UK beats and noise. Although in it’s infancy,
Sleep Beggar has made waves in the UK Underground movement with it’s distinctive mix of hardcore/eletronics and experimental hip-hop. Coming out of the empty, desolate port town of
Holyhead in North Wales.

DEATH OF YOUTH
New powerful 4-piece dark hardcore punk band from mainz/germany

LA GALLERA SOCIAL CLUB
LA GALLERA SOCIAL CLUB is an exciting trip filled with venezuelan
folklore, psychedelia and traditional atmospheres from south american
culture. You can hear the protest of the oppressed people with a touch of bright hopes, because it is here where Latin America and the Caribe vibrate.

SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE
Six Organs of Admittance is the primary musical project of guitarist Ben Chasny. Chasny’s music is largely guitar-based and is often considered new folk,[1] however it includes obvious influences, marked by the use of drones, chimes, and eclectic percussive elements. He records albums for Drag City and Holy Mountain, among other labels.

OISEAUX-TEMPÊTES
A sonic odyssey, the qualms and queries of a sickly and dysfunctional Western society.
The trio was created in Paris in 2012 by the musically versatile pair Frédéric D. Oberland (guitar) and Stéphane Pigneul (bass) (members of FareWell Poetry and Le Réveil des Tropiques) and percussionist Ben Mc Connell (drummer for bands such as Beach House, Rain Machine, Au Revoir Simone, Marissa Nadler and Winter Family).

FILIAMOTSA & G.W.SOK
Filiamotsa is the meeting between a drummer and a violinist. It’s a quite surprising match resulting in a fascinating experimental composition.
The fusion of violin and drums is quite surprising, but absolutely remarkable. I’m not that surprised this band has been asked to play all over the globe.
G.W. Sok (born 1957, real name Jos Kleij) is a Dutch singer, best known for his 30 year career as the frontman of the The Ex. G.W. Sok left The Ex in 2008 to focus on a solo career and collaboration projects with other musicians, participation in theatre performances and spoken word performances. Apart from his musical career he’s also active as a writer and a graphic designer.
After leaving The Ex, Sok started to collaborate with several acts among which the French experimental free jazz band Cannibales & Vahinés and the Italian band Zu.

Thanks for reading.

There will be more offers next week.

I look forward to haering from you asap.

All the best.

Alain

KRIS DAVIS
Pianist-composer Kris Davis has blossomed as one of the singular talents
on the New York jazz scene, a deeply thoughtful, resolutely individual
artist who offers “uncommon creative adventure,” according to
JazzTimes. The Vancouver-born, Brooklyn-residing Davis was dubbed one of
the music’s top up-and-comers in a 2012 New York Times article titled
“New Pilots at the Keyboard,” with the newspaper saying: “Over the
past couple years in New York, one method for deciding where to hear
jazz on a given night has been to track down the pianist Kris Davis.”
Reviewing one of the series of striking albums Davis has released over
the past half-decade, the Chicago Sun-Times lauded the “sense of
kaleidoscopic possibilities” in her playing and compositions

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

CLAIRE BERGERAULT

Singer, accordionist and conductor, CLAIRE BERGERAULT is involved in
several projects in the fields of improvised, experimental, as well as
contemporary music.

She performs in solo, duets or trios, either with the voice alone, or
with the accordion and collaborates with many musicians such as JEAN-LUC
GUIONNET in _Mune_, THOMAS TILLY and FABRICE FAVRIOU in _L’échelle de
Mohs_, MICHAEL NICK, SOPHIE AGNEL, ERIC BROCHARD, JÉRÔME NOETINGER,
WILL GUTHRIE…

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

MICHAEL VORFELD
I started playing music when I was fourteen, after hitch-hiking to the
next bigger city and buying a pair of bongos. Increasing my percussion
set, I had my first groups. After school I worked in a studio for
photography in Cologne. At the same time I got more and more interested
in improvised and experimental music. As a member of the artist group
‘Heinrich Mucken’, founded in 1982, I got involved in site specific art
projects. I studied art in Cologne and Visual Communication in
Kassel(MA). My visual interest shifted towards the use of light in three
dimensional spaces. Now I am living in Berlin, working as musician and
visual artist.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

TARWATER
TARWATER is a German [9] music duo comprising Bernd Jestram and Ronald
Lippok. Tarwater have recorded several albums of mostly instrumental
music usually tagged as post-rock [10].
Jestram and Lippok met in an East German punk rock [11] band, and began
recording together even while Lippok recorded with To Rococo Rot [12]
and Jestram worked in his Bleibeil studio. The first Tarwater album
debuted with 1996’s 11/6 12/10 [13], released around the same time first
album came about. Tarwater’s second album, Silur [14], followed in 1998.
The critical praise attendant on the latter earned Tarwater American
distribution, with Animals Suns & Atoms [15] appearing in 2000 and
Dwellers on the Threshold [16] in 2004. In 2005, the album The Needle
Was Traveling [17] appeared. It was their first album for the Morr [18]
label.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

BENOIT MOREAU

_45 minutes with short movies by american experimental film maker Stan
Brakhage and the sound device Toyoyoy. A selection of 5 to 6 films
between 13 seconds and 6 minutes (Cat’s Cradle, Mothlight, Dante
Quartet, Eye Myth, The Wold Shadow…) intercut by music that sometimes
overflows the projection or remains silent._
_This formula has been initiated in October 2012 in the programme «
Toile de son » at the Cinéma Cityclub in Pully, Switzerland and was
performed several times in France and Switzerland. _
_Toyoyoy is the given name of a device combining a toy piano,
electronics and stereo diffusion. The original music from this device is
a sequence of improv and composed piece which takes advantage of the
childish looking instrument, storms of ringing bells and provoking
sounds. The heart of the sounds is amplified from the toy piano and
expanded by the possibilities of electronics. Showed around Europe since
2011, this solo concert materialised on a vinyl titled Teasers recorded
in Lausanne in 2013 __(mastering by Antoine Etter and graphism by Julien
Sirjacq)._

_……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….._

GUILLAUME LE BOISSELIER
Guillaume Le Boisselier is a self-taught improviser and composer.
Part of his work could be qualified as some kind of primitive and
instinctive musique concrète. He’s looking for a form of concision
rather than for extended durations, and has a taste for contrasts, from
light to wall shaking sounds.
He uses contact mics and objects, as well as tonal instruments such as
iranian Santur or some asian percussions, but also some electronic DIY
devices and effects to generate a music that ranges from tense, intimate
soundscapes to harsh noise experiments.

He works mainly with contemporary dancers and theatre but can also be
found under several names / collaborations such as BLASTèME!, Hippy
Death Suite, The Flowers of The Five Wounds or La Tierce.
He lives in Bruxelles.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

MIKE COOPER
For the past 40 years Mike Cooper has been an international musical
explorer, performing and recording, solo and in a number of inspired
groupings and a variety of genres. Initially a folk-blues guitarist and
singer songwriter his work has diversified to include improvised and
electronic music, live music for silent films, radio art and sound
installations. He is also a music journalist, writing features for
magazines, particularly on Pacific music and musicians, a visual artist,
film and video maker, collector of Hawaiian shirts and appears on more
than 60 records to date.

Thanks for reading. I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

NO BALLS
No Balls’ music exists in a sort of liminal zone; floating between
hyperbolically elongated/inflated Stooges-esque riffs and a sort of
proto-Krautrock barbarism. Well, it did until the release of 2014’s I’m
So Happy I Can Die, a fantastically obscure dub-heavy curveball that
felt like a perverse King Tubby off-cut. It was this latest release that
provided the backbone for their set at The Grosvenor last week, for me
it was one of 2014’s performative highlights. For many, the formation of
No Balls by former Brainbombs members Dan Råberg and Drajan Bryngelsson
crystallised the pure carnal musicality of that prior project, whilst
rejecting the infamously « abhorrent » lyrical content. I would mostly be
inclined to agree; the suppression of almost all vocal elements meant No
Balls had to allow their repetitive treble-pumped guitar work take
centre stage. This grating guitar repetition has really become a solid
vocal substitute.

SHETAHR
An aggressive take on Beat Happening’s legacy, a retarded take on
Sabbath’s legacy. Factual, geographical, existential lyrics.
But no one cares, I don’t care, neither do you, you better bang your
head. e.g.

– Freddy Duries: Cajun, tablas, cymbalettes, sanza, panier à graines.
musiciens. En 2013, Les Statonells invitent deux artistes, Mathieu
Léonard et Maxime Lacôme (Le Groupe de New-York).

HELENA ESPVALL & DAVID MARANHA
David Maranha was born in Figueira da Foz in 1969. His work comprises
sculpture, music, and architecture. In 1986 he started to develop his
work as a musician both solo and with several bands, going on to release
more than 30 albums since then. He formed “osso exótico” in 1989 with
Bernardo Devlin, António Forte, and his brother André Maranha. With a
regular and extensive live and recorded activity both in Portugal and
abroad, David and André have maintained this band up to the present with
multiple collaborators, its current lineup being completed by Francisco
Tropa, Manuel Mota, and Patrícia Machás. Has also collaborated with many
musicians, including Z’EV, Emmanuel Holterbach, Helena Espvall, Phill
Niblock, David Grubbs, Akio Suzuki, Will Guthrie, Andrea Belfi, Jochen
Arbeit, Minit, Pete Simonelli, David Daniell, Arnold Dreyblatt, Jacob
Kirkegaard, Carla Bozulich, Chris Cutler, Werner Durand, Robert Rutman,
Ben Frost, Helge Sten, etc.
Helena Espvall’s early career in Sweden included membership in an
Arabian music ensemble and a silent movie orchestra. She relocated to
Philadelphia, USA in the year 2000 and entered that city’s flourishing
psychedelic and weirdfolk circles. She joined the band Espers shortly
after they recorded their first album, was a member of The Valerie
Project, and formed the duo Anahita with Tara Burke (a.k.a. Fursaxa).
2006 saw the release of Espvall’s first solo album, Nimis & Arx, which
juxtaposed splintered expositions of processed cello with passages of
floating folkdrone. Collaboration with Masaki Batoh (of Japanese psych
band Ghost) produced two acclaimed records for Drag City. In 2010
Espvall released Lapidary in collaboration with noise/drone figure
Marcia Bassett (Zaimph, Double Leopards). This was followed in 2013 by a
meditative pairing with improviser Ernesto DiazInfante, A Hallowed
Shell of Ash and Rust.

SENYAWA
Senyawa is a hardcore metal band from Java, Indonesia consisting of
Rully Shabara and Wukir Suryadi. The band has been formed in 2010 in
Yogyakarta
The band mixes influences from musical and folklore traditions from the
Indonesian archipelago with experimental music. The band neo-tribal
sound has been described to mix « punk attitude » with « avant-garde
aesthetics ».[2] According to critics, Senyawa has managed to « manage to
embody the aural flavours of Javanese music while exploring the
framework of experimental music practice, pushing the boundaries of both
traditions »[3] to create a sound that is « thoroughly out of this
world. »[4]
Shabara provides his extended vocal techniques to Senyawa.[5] The band’s
lyrics are in various languages of Indonesia, including Sulawesian,
Javanese and Bahasa Indonesia. Senyawa’s music is provided by Suryadi’s
self-built musical instruments made from bamboo and traditional
agricultural tools from rural Indonesia.

I hope to hear from you asap.

All the best.

BOOKING OFFERS: MOODIE BLACK, CHARLES GAYLE TRIO

Posted in Uncategorized on mars 9, 2015 by debloque

Dear all,

I am booking some dates for MOODIE BLACK and CHARLES GAYLE TRIO

MOODIE BLACK ((USA)

Availability:1st and 6th May
Territories; The Netherlands + Belgium

CHARLES GAYLE TRIO (USA/Poland, Germany)

Availability: between 5th and 10th November
Territories: The Netherlands + Belgium

MOODIE BLACK
Nestling snugly in the annals of contemporary rap history between Anticon’s reinvention of hip-hop and Kanye’s postscript to the genre lies the formation of Arizona’s noise rap duo Moodie Black,
whose minimalist-yet-massive industrial beats earned them a small cult following several months before Yeezus dragged their downtempo breed of racket to the mainstream. With their debut self-titled EP,
Moodie provided a glimpse of their heavy-hitting post-rap which, though
drenched in scuzz, proved club-friendly with its thumping beats and memorable choruses. Yet in what may have been an act of defiance to ‘Black Skinhead,’ the group’s newly released full-length Nausea
takes another big step away from the mainstream by relying heavily on instrumental post-rock soundscapes for an overwhelming sense of claustrophobia, a feeling as alien to rap as your grandparents.

CHARLES GAYLE TRIO
here is no player on the scene today with the emotional wallop of CHARLES GAYLE. His later discs – particularly Ancient of Days – manifest a mature improvisational talent that can stand with any saxophonist’s today. If you are interested in improvised music, you owe it to yourself to hear him.
A gentle and humble artist, he is clearly one of the greatest saxophone players in the FreeJazz tradition. Born and raised in Buffalo, he was much influenced by the church, where he grew up singing and playing music, but also deeply affected by the racism that he experienced in his urban environment. Christianity is deeply felt by Mr. Gayle and is integral to his music. Mr. Gayle is a musician who excels at whatever instrument he plays, be it sax or piano or bass, as he will demonstrate so well. Primarily self-taught, he is tireless in his commitment to the music. He has played music all his life, be it on the streets where he lived for some time, or in fine European concert halls where he has been met with great enthusiasm.
Now he is 75, yet he refuses to lay back and rest on his musical accomplishments, for fear that the music might lose its ability to move us – Charles Gayle does not play for himself, but to serve.
He has said about his character “Streets” that he dons that attire so that he can get out of the way to let the Music shine. His intention is to move and inspire, and he has dedicated his life to this goal.

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

Dear all,

I am booking some dates for TWIRLY MIST, GUM TAKES TOOTH, BULBUL

GUM TAKES TOOTH (UK)

Availability: from 25th May 2015
Territories: Belgium, The Netherlands

TWIRLY MIST (Denmark)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuTfKTDuN7A&list=UU8uOFa6qlP75lxLly1g4DYQ

Availability:
Territories: Europe

BULBUL (Austria)
http://bulbul.bandcamp.com/
Availability: 16th May 2015
Territories: Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany

GUM TAKES TOOTH
Two man everything machine endlessly seeking what-the-fuck aural mesmerism in a maze like arrangement of physically overwhelming rituals of sound system culture, riffs and pan-cultural psychedelics. Each member focusing intently on unmediated rhythmic interaction between crowd and performer, directing the energy towards unexplored altered states. Dark primal frequencies are felt and not heard, unremitting circular drums shatter and rebirth whilst a cast of vocal characters provide an astral guide through these dizzying manipulations.

TWIRLY MIST
He plays some kind of industrial experimental singer songwriter music with some 80´s synth
references

BULBUL
The first sign of Bulbul we can find is the release of their self-titled debut album in 1997, Bulbul a one man project of guitarist/vocalist Raumschiff Engelmayr at the time. With Derhunt linking up on bass, the band released second and again self-titled album in 1999, via as the first via Trost Records. Drummer Ddkern joined not long after as the band continued to experiment with sound, imagination, and their fans minds through their third and fourth albums in 2003 and 2005 respectively, again under the same monikers as the others. 2006 saw fifth album BlllBlll unleashed whilst the Patrick Pulsinger produced 6 was uncaged via Exile On Mainstream two years later to strong acclaim and attention. Hirn Fein Hacken is as mentioned the band’s return, again via EOM, and takes little time in slipping under the skin of the senses and psyche as well as giving the passions an irresistible creative toxicity to feast upon.

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

All the best.
