Posted in Uncategorized on janvier 21, 2020 by debloque

Dear all,

Please find here under some bands and musicians who will be soon touring.

Feel free to get in touch with me if you want to set up a concert for one of them.

JAAP BLONK (The Netherlands)

Availability: From mid October onwards
Territory: Europe + UK
Jaap Blonk (born 1953 in Woerden, Holland) is a self-taught composer, performer and poet.
He went to university for mathematics and musicology but did not finish those studies.
In the late 1970s he took up saxophone and started to compose music.
A few years later he discovered his potential as a vocal performer, at first in reciting poetry and later on in improvisations and his own compositions. For almost two decades the voice was his main means for the discovery and development of new sounds.
From around the year 2000 on Blonk started work with electronics, at first using samples of his own voice, then extending the field to include pure sound synthesis as well.
He took a year off of performing in 2006. As a result, his renewed interest in mathematics made him start a research of the possibilities of algorithmic composition for the creation of music, visual work and poetry.
As a vocalist, Jaap Blonk is unique for his powerful stage presence and almost childlike freedom in improvisation, combined with a keen grasp of structure. He has performed around the world, on all continents. With the use of live electronics the scope and range of his concerts has acquired a considerable extension.

STEFAN FRAUNBERGER (Austria)
https://stefanfraunberger.bandcamp.com/
Availability: Mid September – mid December 2020
Territory: Europe + UK
Stefan Fraunberger is an Austrian composer and artist exploring themes of transformation and liminality in sound, focusing on their interior counterpoint in relation to perception. Stefan engages in electro-acoustic dialogue with different instruments, beings and concepts, interacting with conditions and languages beyond nature and culture. By investigating embodied understandings of the uncanny, his work touches on time, matter, memory and transition.
Approaching music as an otherworldly dialect, one connecting physical entities and interior states of being, lies at the core of his research into human and non-human / material and spiritual domains.

Howlin Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Robert Jhonson, Tom Waits, Cream, Allman Brothers, Creedence

Booking offers (2020 #2)

Dear all,

Please find here under some bands and musicians who willbe touring soon.

I am booking some dates for them.

DISTANT ANIMALS (UK)

https://www.distantanimals.com/video

Availability: On request
Territory: Europe

Daniel Hignell-Tully (Distant Animals) is a composer and performance artist from the UK. Utilising avant-garde and contemporary classical compositional techniques, alongside a minimalist electronic palette, he works primarily with a modular synthesiser to create tense, emotive sound worlds. Often working from text-scores, his practice explores subtle, emergent changes in timbre and rhythm over time, and the relocation of otherwise avant-garde practices into mundane or everyday contexts. As such, he has devised works for solo electronic performance, string quartets, dance companies, street choirs, rock bands, children’s groups, and art installations. Throughout his career he has collaborated with a wide range of practitioners across a broad range of disciplines, including painters, photographers, programmers, educators, law experts, inclusive artists, comedians, acousticians, theologians, and statisticians. He has released work on labels including Hallow Ground and Nomad Exquisite, and has performed in the UK, Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Unashamedly academic in his approach, he holds a PhD from Sussex University and has published several academic papers on sound, community, and participation.
FRAN AND FLORA (UK) + THOMAS KITCHMAN (UK)

https://franflora.bandcamp.com/album/unfurl
http://www.netilradio.com/
https://www.nts.live/shows/guests/episodes/mondegreen-10th-july-2018

Availability: To be announced
Territory: Europe

Described as ‘London’s best kept secret’ by Max Reinhardt (BBC Radio 3 Late Junction) and ‘brave & classy’ by Robin Denselow (The Guardian) Fran & Flora are quickly becoming one of the capital’s most sought after live acts. An eastern-European folk music inspired violin and cello duo with a distinctive intimate and improvisatory performance style, they were selected by BBC Music Introducing to perform at Latitude Festival, which was broadcast live across 2018. The pair have collaborated and toured with groundbreaking and established artists such as Sam Lee & Talvin Singh OBE for several years, where they developed a deep friendship, and from which their duo project began. Their growing reputation has accelerated since the recent release of their debut album unfurl (Feb 2019) which was produced by Sam Beste from Hejira. Unfurl has gained critical acclaim and attention from national radio, magazines, newspapers and online publications. They have appeared live in session on BBC4’s Woman’s Hour, Cerys Matthews’ 6 Music Show and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. Recent performances include Kings Place, Cafe Oto, Eastbourne Folk Club, Klezmer In The Park, Shambala Festival, Shtetl Neukeulln (Berlin) and the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Thomas Kitchman was born and raised in England’s most sparsely populated county; Northumberland. Here, he was raised on a steady diet of bleak northern vistas, small town ennui and baked beans for tea. Sometime later, he found himself in London, where he now runs the Mondegreen imprint, which provides a platform for jazz and other improvised musics along the road less travelled within the Capital’s vibrant scene. Kitchman’s DJ sets draw on five years of unsolicited aural bombardment behind the counters of both Phonica Records and Flashback Records. Expect to hear an idiosyncratic selection of folk, electronica and minimalism alongside other music’s from across the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.
ZEUS! (Italy) + PSYCHIC GRAVEYARD (USA)

https://zeuspower.bandcamp.com/album/motomonotono

Availabity: 2nd June 2020
Territory: Belgium

Noise Rock pioneers, Eric Paul (Arab On Radar, Chinese Stars, Doomsday Student), Paul Vieira (Chinese Stars, Doomsday Student), and Nathan Joyner (Some Girls, All Leather, Hot Nerds) venture through uncharted territory with their new band, Psychic Graveyard. The band’s debut single, « Dead In Different Places » – set to be released early in 2019 through SKiN GRAFT Records – exemplifies the raw tapestry of sounds that characterize the new endeavor. Nathan Joyner’s grinding synths and « found sound » buries the seed of each song deep into the fertile ground – while Paul Vieira’s manic, fuzzed-out guitars and Eric Paul’s obsessive lyrics shower the proceedings with equal parts sunshine and rain.
Zeus! (with an exclamation mark) is an Italian progressive-math rock, supergroup duo formed in 2010 in Imola.
The band began as a collaboration between Luca Cavina, bassist of Calibro 35, and Paolo Mongardi, former drummer of Jennifer Gentle.[2] In 2010 they released their first self-titled studio album,[3] (involving the labels Bar la Muerte, Shove Records, Escape from Today) almost entirely instrumental, fusing hard sounds to complex lines of composition.
During the years 2009 to 2012 did many concerts around Italy, but also in Germany and France, dividing his time between commitments with their original groups.
In May 2011 was published the first official videoclip of the band, by the song Grindmaster Flesh, from the album Zeus!.
The project is also a strong characterization ironic and irreverent, also reflected by the titles of the songs, and the band’s description on the Escape From Today website.
MICK HARRIES (FRET, SCORN) (UK)

Availability: From early April onwards
Territory: Belgium

Mick Harris arrives on L.I.E.S. via his FRET moniker. A man who needs no introduction via his exploits in Napalm Death and Scorn among a slew of other projects, Harris returns after his lp last year, bringing FRET back to life once again. Four tracks of absolutely crushing broken techno; dense blasting and unstoppable chaos that lays waste to all in sight. Trancers and candy ravers step aside. An unmissable record from a true originator.

Thanks for reading.

Feel free to contact me if you want to set up a concert for one of thesbands/artists.

All the best.

Alain

PAPIVORES (UK)

Availability: 20th February
Territory: Belgium

Papivores is French violinist and composer Agathe Max and British musician and producer Tom Relleen. Both have been leaving their mark on the field of contemporary music for a number of years – Max within numerous solo and collaborative projects – Kuro, Mésange, etc, and Relleen as half of Tomaga.
OPENING PERFORMANCE ORCHESTRA (CZ REPUBLIC)

https://openingperformanceorchestra.bandcamp.com/

Availability: After The Summertime
Territory: Europe + UK

Fraction Elements sees Opening Performance Orchestra Begin with ambient, ominous gloom that rumbles and scrapes itself to life. As things begin to increasingly crash and rumble, feedback and electronic noise begin to really rise. The growth from slight sounds to massive noise is long and impressive. Their work builds to assaultive, distorted walls, spikes of sharp sounds and much sonic overdrive. In photos there appear to be four members but Discogs lists seven; I don’t know if it’s due the number of group members, but the control over such a loud mass of sound is excellent. The number of individual noise components is quite small, but it builds to a massive cacophony of noise that’s controlled in every aspect. Fraction Elements gradually builds to a wall like assault. I later learned both their tracks were played and recorded live, impressive.
CLIPPING. (USA)

https://clppng.bandcamp.com/track/blood-of-the-fang

Availability: 16th April – 2nd May 2020
Territory: Belgium

The science-fiction visionary Octavia Butler once declared that « there is nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns. » The aphorism could apply to any art form where the basic contours are fixed, but the appetite for innovation remains infinite. Enter Clipping, flash fiction genre masters in a hip-hop world firmly rooted in memoir. If first person confessionals historically reign, the mid-city Los Angeles trio of rapper Daveed Diggs and producers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes have spent the last half-decade terraforming their own patch of soil, replete with conceptual labyrinths and industrial chaos. They have conjured a mutant emanation of the future, built at odd angles atop the hallowed foundation of the past.
FVNERALS (UK/Belgium)

Availability: 18th April 2020
Territory: Belgium

Things have been somewhat stop-start for Fvnerals over the past couple of years, however it’s safe to say that the ‘go’ button has been activated of late. If you have caught them live recently with Emma Ruth Rundle, you’ll know that their darkly captivating heavy slowcore is a mesmerising watch. Evidently Emma was bowled over enough to invite them to participate in her curated event, The Gilded Cage.
ELLIOTT SHARP (USA) + HELEN BRESCHAND (France)

https://helenebreschand.bandcamp.com/album/chansons-du-cr-puscule

Availability: 08th-14th June 2020
Territory: The Netherlands, Belgium

In Chansons Du Crepuscule, the French multi-genre vocalist, harpist, composer and improvisor Hélène Breschand hooks up with the multi-genre New York guitarist Elliott Sharp to yield spell-binding music of the first order. This fascinating collaboration crosses musical genres as easily as a nuthatch jumps from a birch tree to a cedar and then to a hickory. But since jazz has elements of all music embedded within its frame work, it’s not a significant leap to suggest that Chansons Du Crepuscule falls within the broader outlines of the category. There’s a radical sense of play in this music. Breschand’s French poetry and vocal expression perfectly accompanies the experimental elements of Sharp’s guitar work. Take for example the opening cut, the aggressive and rollicking cave dance « Extase, » with its coyote howls at the moonlight. Or consider Sharp’s monkish chants that seem to emanate from dark chambers in « La langue dans ma bouche. » Then there’s « Je t’aime tant »—a slow sauntering across a dreamscape of sound. Breschand uses her voice to great affect at the 2-minute mark, as she slides her vocal up and down in a plaintive plea.
MOTHCOCK (USA)

Availability: Autumn 2020
Territory: Europe + UK

Doug Gent- saxophone & clarinet
Pat Modugno- sampler/ electronics, vox, trumpet

We are from Kent- Ohio. We started making music in 2007. Since then we have released 2 LPs and dozens of tapes from lables such as Hausu mountain, tusco embassy, and human conduct. We have played shows for over a decade, combining live instrumentation with prepared electronics.
VERDUN (France)

https://verdun.bandcamp.com/

Availability: 25th April – 7th May 2020
Territory: Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany

Three years after their first album « The Eternal Drift’s Canticles » that sits them firmly as a stalwart of the european sludge / doom scene, Montpellier, France’s powerhouseVERDUNreturns with « Astral Sabbath », marking their debuts as a four-piece. The band headed to the Cantal countryside during Spring 2019 to record and mix these seven tracks with Cyrille Gachet(Fange, Year Of No Light, Chaos Echoes). With an approach of slow and heavy music played with a punk energy and a psychedelic feel, the band shines at combining sorrowful melodies with earth-shaking riffing. More focused in writing memorable tracks rather than relying on deafening volumes, this second full-length is the band’s most accomplished effort, mastered by Bruno Varea(Blut Aus Nord, Doctor Livingstone…)and featuring striking cover art by illustrator Sinpiggyhead
AARON TURNER (USA) + MARA (USA)

https://sigerecords.bandcamp.com/album/here-behold-your-own

Availability: April 2020
Territory: Belgium

AARON’s countless collaborations include prestigious names like Tashi Dorji, Justin Broadrick, Masami Akita aka Merzbow, Heather Leigh, Caspar Brötzmann, Keiji Haino, William Fowler Collins, Daniel Menche, Stephen O’Malley, Kevin Martin/The Bug, James Plotkin and many others. AARON TURNER and MÁRA are able to tour Belgium presenting their new solo material during the month of APRIL 2020 and can consider FESTIVAL APPEARANCES all over the year. They would be probably able to team again on an extensive series of shows later during the year.
« MÁRA is the solo project of FAITH COLOCCIA, the hermetic composer, songwriter, and vocalist who has a central figure in numerous projects including MAMIFFER (feat. AARON TURNER of ISIS and SUMAC) and her ongoing collaborations with ALEX BARNETT . Her arrangements for piano, organ, electronics, guitar, and voice often take the form of deconstructed plain songs, as elegant variations of a melody that smolder and dissolve into heavy-lidded assemblages of shadow, fog, and echo. As MÁRA, she continues with her signature aesthetics, while laying bare the emotional core of her being.
HASSAN K (France/Iran)

Availability: 25th February (Spain) + on request
Territory: Europe + UK

Hassan K. is a mystical one man band from Persia. Open source, DIY artist, Hassan mixes folklore and technologies, occident and orient, surf music and bellydance, swing and heavy metal… in crazy live acts, not too far from transe. With an augmented electric setar and a drum machine, he travels from the west kingdom to the Turan, spreading the words of his illuminated ancestors…

I am looking forward to hearing from one of them.

Regards.

Alain
