CM VON HAUSSWOLFF
was born in 1956 in Linköping, Sweden. He lives and works in Stockholm.
Since the end of the 1970s, Hausswolff has worked as a composer using the tape recorder as his main instrument and as a conceptual visual artist working with performance art, light- and sound installations and photography.
His audio compositions from 1979 to 1992, constructed almost exclusively from basic material taken from earlier audiovisual installations and performance works, consists essentially of complex macromal drones with a surface of aesthetic elegance and beauty. In later works, Hausswolff has retained the aesthetic elegance and the drone and added a purely isolationistic sonic condition to composing. Between 1996 and 2008 Hausswolff has boiled away even more ornamental meat from the bones: his works are pure, intuitive studies of electricity, frequency functions and tonal autism within the framework of a conceptual stringent cryption. Lately he has also developed a more conceptual form of audio art overlooking subjects such as architecture and urbanism, rats and maggots. Collaborators include Graham Lewis, Jean-Louis Huhta, Pan sonic, Russell Haswell, Zbigniew Karkowski, Erik Pauser, The Hafler Trio and John Duncan. His music and sound art can be found on labels such as Touch, Ash International, Laton, Oral, RasterNoton, Firework Edition, SubRosa and Die Stadt. His music is published by Touch Music, London.

TRANS/HUMAN
Employing several noise making devices and techniques in their performances, including mobile phones, radio, cassette tape, prepared electric guitar, processed drums, strobe lighting, contact microphones, field recordings and feedback systems, Trans/Human’s concerns lie within the physical act of music making and its relationship to environment and audience. Through their collaboration the duo sought to reflect their inclination towards creating ritualized sonic and visual experiences via a series of improvised performances, resulting in releases, The 8 Hour Dance (The Audacious Art Experiment 2011) and The Wider (Blackest Rainbow 2012). Their latest LP, The (Un)Expected, recorded at Audacious Space, Sheffield, came out on The Audacious Art Experiment in March 2014.

THEE OOPS
A perfect performance of straight up punk rock! Enter Sardinia, Italy’s Thee Oops! Their debut LP « Taste of Zimbabwe » stabs your fuckin’ eyes out with an EVIL blast of violent ’81 style hardcore: 18 disgusting screamers racing from 41 seconds to just under a minute and a half. Equal parts hateful Italian politico murder decrees and paeans to interweb beat-off pages & real human orgies make theirs a live show to help recruit youth to smash shit up and get the nubiles naked! The new album will come out On Slovenly Recordings and Anchors Aweigh (already home of Amenra among the others) in October 2014.

I hope to hear from you asap.

All the best.

Alain

WILLIAM BASINSKI
William Basinski (born 1958) is an avant-garde composer based in New
York.[1] He is also a clarinetist, saxophonist, sound artist, and video
artist.
William Basinski was born in 1958 in Houston, Texas. A classically
trained clarinetist, he studied jazz saxophone and composition at North
Texas State University in the late 1970s. In 1978, inspired by
minimalists such as Steve Reich and Brian Eno,[3] he began developing
his own vocabulary using tape loops and old reel-to-reel tape decks. He
developed his meditative, melancholy style experimenting with short
looped melodies played against themselves creating feedback loops.

ULRICH TROYER
SONGS FOR WILLIAM is a project that combines music, a graphic novel
and hand drawn visuals for the live performance.
It started in 2011 on Mala’s DEEP MEDI Label & continued in 2013 on
4Bit Productions.
Songs for William is the first in a trilogy of experimental dub projects
from Ulrich Troyer and Deep Medi Musik. Ulrich Troyer was born in
Innsbruck and raised in Tyrol Austria, he studied Architecture and Music
at University and now resides in Vienna where he lives and works as a
freelance artist and musician. Ulrich has been producing music and
experimenting with electronics for over 10 years on various projects
that include soundtracks for movies, dance productions, exhibitions and
sound installations. Since 2005 Ulrich has also been performing live as
a member of the Vegetable Orchestra. ‘Songs For William’ sees Ulrich
explore his love for dub music and the experimentations of pioneers such
as King Tubby, Sound Dimension and Rhythm and Sound alongside the
influences of Mulatu, Tony Allen and the psychedelic sounds of Selda. To
accompany this release is the first part chapter of a comic novel
featuring the main character William (A guitar effect pedal!) and his
journey! All analogue synthesizers, effects, stompboxes, samplers,
guitars, percussion and melodica played, programmed, recorded and dubbed
by Ulrich Troyer at the 4Bit Studio Vienna.

MAN FOREVER
Man Forever is an exploratory percussion project helmed by John
Colpitts (aka Kid Millions), one of New York’s most versitile and
critically lauded collaborators and a founding member of Oneida. Since
its inception in 2010, Man Forever has hosted an impressive list of
guest performers, but few have been as specially qualified to perform
Colpitts’ technically challenging meditative workouts as So
Percussion, the United States’ premiere contemporary percussion
ensemble. So Percussion has commissioned and premiered new
compositions by Steve Reich and their interpretations of John Cage
have revolutionized the legendary composer’s cannon. Following a
collaborative performance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New
York in June of 2013, So and Colpitts entered the studio together to
record Ryonen, two pieces that combine the former’s precision and
ingenuity with the latter’s restless punk spirit. While previous Man
Forever records were inspired by blissful, overwhelming confusion,
Ryonen derives its power from its clarity and immediacy.

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you as soon as possible.

All the best.

BOOKING OFFERS; TALIBAM!, BRYIN DALL

Posted in Uncategorized on août 18, 2014 by debloque

Dear all,

I am booking some dates for TALIBAM! and BRYIN DALL

TALIBAM! (USA)
http://www.tinymixtapes.com/news/talibam-shares-new-video-announces-digital-ep-reissues-multiple-upcoming-albums
https://www.facebook.com/Talibamnyc
http://www.youtube.com/watch

Availabilities: Between 22nd October and 1st November
Territory: Europe

BRYIN DALL (USA)

Availabilities; Betwwen 11th and 22nd September
Territory: Europe

TALIBAM!
Vigilantly bolstering sonic diversity since 2003, Talibam! is proud to have arrived at their 10-year anniversary with a lucid compassion for humankind. Despite the incessant deterrents to their d.i.y.
enterprise, Matt Mottel (keys) and Kevin Shea (drums) have remained devoted to their belief that the application of diversity in sound is paramount to the appreciation of diversity among fellow beings.
Talibam!’s ultimate goal has been, and always will be, to create music out of kindness, and to be kind by wedding disparate ideologies threaded with proficiency and questioning.
Talibam! has worked hard to proselytize their process — within the last year alone, Talibam! has collaborated with legendary Fluxist artist Yasunao Tone at the MoMA, completed three theater residencies in NYC (at the IRT Theater, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Swing Space, and at the Incubator Arts Project where they presented their opera Discover Atlantass with collaborator Sam Kulik), released
3 albums, completed 4 tours of Europe, and collaborated with world-renowned choreographer Karole Armitage in her dance company Armitage Gone! Dance (Karole choreographed Madonna’s Vogue).
To date, Talibam! (the only relevant band name of the last decade) has traveled to 40 countries, completed more than 30 international tours, and released 26 albums.
Their newest release, Puff Up The Volume (Critical Heights), is an uninhibited pop detonation to free the contemporary flaneur (whose intuition coalesces as a reactionary cosmic dance precisely because of all that surrounds and teaches him/her) — it further establishes the dynamic duo as a stylish production meme-team.

BRYIN DALL
When I was very little, my parents force-fed me country music, but as I got older, I listened to Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Sparks, Bowie, Roxy Music, XTC, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Jesus & Mary Chain, etc. Then I discovered Throbbing Gristle. My entire musical world changed. My first band was The End, and I moved to NYC. Another project was Loretta’s Doll, then I explored unconventional music further under the name 4th Sign of the Apocalypse. Darkness was always prevalent in my music from the start, Derek Rush joined me and we became A Murder of Angels, a dark ambiant project, and created the musical genre dambient. Then I met Genesis P-Orridge at my local post office in NYC and within a month I was half of his musickal project, Thee Majesty, still playing shows all over the world. I am listening to country (this time on my own accord):
Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, or Hank Williams (Sr. or III, never Jr.), etc

Thanks for reading.

I hope to hear from you asap.

Regards.

BLIXA BARGELD
Blixa Bargeld was born in West Berlin on January 12, 1959. He grew up in Friedenau, a quarter in the Schöneberg district that was in the American sector. Berlin was divided into four sectors. The Berlin Wall was built around the three western sectors in the summer of 1961 and West Berlin became a walled city, an island city. Cold War: “There was a noise around my generation that aroused fear, a noise which could cut through the sky.
Changing media. Since the 1980s Blixa Bargeld has expanded his oeuvre as an artist in numerous collaborations, as well as repeated solo events, within all branches of the performing arts. He appears in changing roles and functions in films, radio plays and audio books, theater productions, performances and installations. He is a singer, narrator, actor, director and author, musician, poet and experimenter. His main instrument remains his voice, and language is his distinctive medium.
The works he creates should be understood as experimental designs. He devises a game where rules are discovered and broken in perpetual transformations. What exists is variable.

ALVA.NOTO
n his work Carsten Nicolai, born 1965 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, seeks to overcome a separation of art forms and genres for an integrated artistic approach. Influenced by scientific reference systems, Nicolai often engages mathematic patterns such as grids and codes, as well as error, random and self-organising structures.
After his participation in important international exhibitions like « documenta X » and the « 49th and 50th Venice Biennial », Nicolai’s works were shown in two comprehensive solo exhibitions at Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, Germany (anti reflex), at Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, Germany (syn chron) in 2005, at Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich (static fades) in 2007 and at CAC, Vilnius (pionier) in 2011. He is represented by Galerie EIGEN + ART in Leipzig/Berlin, The Pace Gallery and Galleria Lorcan O’Neill in Rome.
Under the pseudonym noto Carsten Nicolai experiments with sound to create his own code of signs, acoustic and visual symbols. As alva noto he leads those experiments into the field of electronic music. Besides performing in club and concert halls, Nicolai presented his audio-visual pieces at museums like Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Kunsthaus Graz or Tate Modern in London. Additionally he pursues projects with diverse artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ryoji Ikeda (cyclo.), Blixa Bargeld (anbb), Michael Nyman, Mika Vainio or Thomas Knak (opto). His latest musical project with Olaf Bender (byetone) is called diamond version and is released on mute records.

I hope to hear from you as soon as possible.

TERMINAL CHEESECAKE (UK)

Availability: 2nd and 3rd October + 11th October
Territory: France

LUCA FORCUCCI
Luca Forcucci is a composer, artist and researcher. He observes the perceptive and dynamic properties/relations of sound and space. The field of possibilities for sound are in a context of music and art as experience. In this context, he is interested by perception and consciousness.

Z’ev
Z’EV (born Stefan Joel Weisser, February 8, 1951) is an American poet,[1][2] percussionist,[3][4] and sound artist.[5][6] After studying various world music traditions at CalArts, he began creating his own percussion sounds out of industrial materials for a variety of record labels. He is regarded as a pioneer of industrial music.[7]
In 1983, critic Roy Sablosky wrote: « Z’EV doesn’t just break the rules, he changes them. »[8] Journalist Louis Morra wrote in 1983: « Z’EV is a consummate example of contemporary performance art, as well as modern composition and theater. » and, « Z’EV realizes many of modernist art’s ultimate goals: primitivism, improvisation, multi-media/conjunction of art forms, the artist as direct creator. »[9]
His work with text and sound has been influenced by Kabbalah, as well as African, Afro-Caribbean and Indonesian music and culture. He has studied Ewe (Ghana) music, Balinese gamelan, and Indian tala.[10]

AUDREY CHEN
AUDREY CHEN is a Chinese-American musician who was born into a family of material scientists, doctors and engineers, outside of Chicago in 1976. Parting ways with the family convention, she turned to the cello at age 8 and voice at 11. After years of classical and conservatory training in both instruments, with a resulting specialization in early and new music, she parted ways again in 2003 to begin new negotiations with sound in order to discover a more individually honest aesthetic.
Now, using the cello, voice and analog electronics, Chen’s work delves deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. A large component of her music is improvised and her approach to this is extremely personal and visceral. Her playing explores the combination and layering of a homemade analog synthesizer, preparations and traditional and extended techniques in both the voice and cello. She works to join these elements into a singular ecstatic personal language.

TERMINAL CHEESECAKE
Terminal Cheesecake are an English alternative rock band, originally
formed by Gary Boniface (formerly of The Purple Things and The Vibes),
Russell Smith (formerly of A.R.Kane and MARRS), Mick Parkin and John
Jobbagy (also from The Vibes and Purple Things) in 1988 in North and East
London.
The name of the group was taken from a list of fictional sixties bands
written by Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond

I hope to hear from you as soon as possible.

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFERS: RAJSTHANI SUFI PROJECT, DINO SALUZZI GROUP, SWITCHBACK

RAJSTHANI SUFI PROJECT (India)

Availability: Between September 2014 and March 2015
Territory: Europe

DINO SALUZZI GROUP (Argentina)

Availability: Spring 2015
Territory: Belgium

SWITCHBACK (USA/POLAND)

Availability: April 2015
Territory: Belgium

RAJSTHANI SUFI PROJECT
His name is Mossin Kawa and I’m a TABLA PLAYER from a musical familly
background in Jaipur.
In his last trip in Europe, aside his work in the indian classical
field, he played fusion and jazz stuff with people like DAVID MURRAY,
CHEICK TIDIANE SECK, BERNARD LUBAT, KHALED, HOCUS POCUS, TAMANGO (TAP
DANCER), VINCENT SEGAL, LOY EHRLICH and many more..

DINO SALUZZI GROUP
In his 32-year relationship with ECM Records, Argentinean bandoneonist
Dino Saluzzi has explored many paths—paths upon which he has rarely
traveled more than once, even if there were certain road marks common to
them all. A pair of trio recordings with his son, guitarist José Maria
Saluzzi, employed two different bassists—Marc Johnson on 1997’s Cité de
la Musique and Palle Danielsson on 2003’s Responsorium—their graceful
elegance possessing a similar but different intimacy when compared to
the bandoneonist’s ongoing duo with cellist Anja Lechner, which first
began with Ojos Negros (2007) but then expanded to a trio with the
addition of his brother, saxophonist/clarinetist Félix « Cuchara »
Saluzzi, together alone on 2011’s Navidad de los Andes, following the
trio’s first encounter on El Encuentro (2010), a more sweepingly
ambitious orchestral project.

SWITCHBACK
MARS WILLIAMS – tenor, alto, soprano, sopranino saxophones (Chicago)
« one of the true saxophone players–someone who takes pleasure in the
sheer act of blowing the horn. This tremendous enthusiasm is an
essential part of his sound, and it comes through each note every time
he plays. Whatever the situation, Mars plays exciting music. In many
ways he has succeeded in redefining what versatility means to the
modern saxophone player. » – John Zorn, USA
WACLAW ZIMPEL – bass & alto clarinet, Bb clarinet, tarogato (Warsaw)
« Zimpel’s name goes straight into the list of European jazzmen that
gave new life to clarinet and bass clarinet, continuing Dolphy’s
example: Surman, Sclavis, Trovesi, and the like. » – Francesco
Martinelli, pointofdeparture.org, USA, 2010
« Polish composer/clarinetist Wacław Zimpel is one of the most
promising musicians from the European continent. » – Eyal Hareuveni,
allaboutjazz.com, USA, 2012
HILLIARD GREENE – double bass (NYC)
« His fabulous arco bass mixes lyricism with a burning, literally
ferocious desire of opening the listener’s mind. » – Massimo Ricci,
Touching Extremes, Italy, 2007
« I found his composition to be extraordinary in its depth of emotion.
Hill’s remarkable virtuosity and passion on his instrument and
spiritual awareness was ever present throughout. » – Margot Elizabeth
Meyers, Jazzimprov, NY, USA, 2006
KLAUS KUGEL – drums (Cologne)
« Klaus Kugel is a commanding force behind the drum set. He creates
layers of tension drawn out from intuitive listening. There is a
constant emotional swelling underlying every fill and cymbal crash. –
John Barron, Jazzreview.com, USA, 2007
« These three discs … show Kugel as a drummer whose nearly boundless
energy and imagination cannot be confined by neat categories. » – Ed
Hazel, Signal To Noise, USA, 2006
« Most ensembles can only wish for a percussionist with such high
skill and perceptive musicianship as Klaus Kugel » – Frankfurter
Rundschau, Germany.

BOOKING OFFERS: ACTEURS, RIE NAKAJIMA

Posted in Uncategorized on août 4, 2014 by debloque

Dear all,

I am booking some dates for: ACTEURS, RIE NAKAJIMA

ACTEURS (USA)

Availability: TBA + on request
Territory: Europe

RIE NAKAJIMA (Japan)
http://www.rienakajima.com/_work/_installations.html/gradient.html

Availability: On request
Territory: Europe

ACTEURS
Borne out of a Windy City. This band is a collision of fevered minds and musical spirits, of great friends, of many influences. They are Acteurs.
The pair, Jeremy Lemos and Brian Case know their way around a mixing desk. Both have long, immaculate CV’s with the cream of the U.S alternative scene, from Disappears to White Light / White Heat. Their self-titled debut from Spring 2013 stretched the studio to its limit and confounded and excited critics alike. New matter will emerge from these Chicago heads in early 2014. Expect uncomfortable, groove based thrust, pop-not-pop, punch punch punch electronics, amped out punk. Live, the thrill is modular brutal metallic precision-armed mechanical funk.

RIE NAKAJIMA
Rie Nakajima is an artist working with installations and performances that produce sound. She recently won the prestigious Arts Foundation Award for Experimental Music. Her works are most often composed in direct response to unique architectural spaces using a combination of audio materials and found objects.
The works created for the purposes of « playing » the sounds she has in mind are often placed matter-of-factly on the floor or take the form of assembled objects that serve as sound makers, giving rise to inorganic spaces. Listening to the works in such finely honed environments brings to the surface in a pure way people’s imagination, memories, and deepest thoughts.
Nakajima graduated from the Department of Aesthetics and Art History at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and received a BA in Sculpture at the Chelsea College of Art and Design and an MA in Sculpture at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. Since then Nakajima has exhibited and performed widely both in the UK and overseas.
« Diverse objects such as marbles, whistles, nails, toys, ping-pong balls, paper cups and glass bottles were casually yet deftly moved around the surface of one of the cabaret tables. Random sounds resulted from their chance confrontations, her quiet concentration induced a spellbound gaze from surrounding spectators, simply awaiting the next sound.
