LAUREL HALO
Heavy, mutilated strains of electronic music with influence from the sounds of Detroit, UK, Jamaica and Germany – Laurel Halo’s music is a shapeshifting mess, moody and ecstatic, with flashes of rhythmic brilliance mediated by modal simplicity.  The Michigan-born and Berlin-based artist has released both instrumental and vocal-driven records on the London-based label Hyperdub, and has performed in a variety of clubs, concert halls and strange spaces worldwide.

NEVRASKA
French bass/drumming duo formed in late 2013 in Annecy Haute-Savoie, Nevraska brings new sounds from 2 « exes » from hardcore, noise and rock genres. Pascal a former member of Human Side and Cyril, a former member of Inner Suffering.
After 15 years of touring, concerts, albums, partnerships and / or co-productions, each took time to explore new avenues, to play with them, to throw them away and sometimes to re-test them.
Their respective explorations quickly resulted in a common project, a blend of progressive rock, math rock, post rock, noise rock, indie, or even bluespunk! The style is almost reminiscent of groups such as « Nomeansno » or « Breach » but the small format of the group gives a completely different style.

CHARLIE O
French organist Charlie O. is most known for its virtuosity on the B3 Hammond organ, with multiple collaborations from David Grubs, Noel Akchoté & Rectangle record label, Black Sifichi, to Cedric Klapisch, Mendelson or the singers Philippe Katerine and Peter von Poehl, and with his own trio : two drummers, and a B3.
Now with the record « Marguerite » he goes back to his first love : the pipe organ. With tones from Jacques Tati or François de Roubaix soundtracks, 14 sketches blending popular musics. « The whole thing is just so playful and joyous – amazing that you manage to do this with an instrument that weighs I don’t know how many tons with just as many tons of cultural heritage attached! It also sounds great! (Peter von Poehl)

SONS OF HUNS
The Portland trio rounded out by Ryan Northrop [drums] and Aaron
Powell [bass, vocals] retreated to Sound of Sirens Studio in Los
Angeles with producer Toshi Kasai [The Melvins] for a week in January 2015. During that time, the group honed its robust rock sound with the right flourishes of spacey elegance and artful bombast.
Puffing out smoke of Sabbath-ian proportions.

HEAD OF WANTASTIQUET
HEAD OF WANTASTIQUET (USA/DE) is Paul LaBrecque’s (Sunburned Hand of the Man, Astral Blessing) solo shaman body melt unit.
The music is a thoroughly Modern/NOW take on the early minimalist
experiments of John Cale’s Sun Blindness tapes, projected through a prism that refracts into hallucinatory images of Andrew Wyeth and Caspar Friedrich, the temporal finality of Altamont and Kenneth Anger, the bare feet grounded to the soil of Träd Gräs och Stenar, and the beautiful desolation of Doc Boggs’ early 20th century Appalachian hollers

HAILEY TUCK
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, with a Baptist Military Boarding School education, 23 year-old Hailey Tuck is a jazz singer from the most unlikely of backgrounds. On her 18th birthday, her parents presented Hailey with a college fund to further her education and she did what any teenager with a love of 30s jazz, vintage dresses and Edith Piaf would do: She bought a one-way ticket to Paris and boarded the plane.
Arriving in Paris in the early hours of the morning, Hailey took a taxi across town to Voltaire, an area of town in the lively 11th arrondissement. During the course of the journey, a lengthy chat (in English) with the driver led to him setting Hailey a challenge; sing the whole of Edith Piaf’s ‘La Vie En Rose’ in French and the cab is free.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in setting up a date for any of the bands/artists.

Regards.

DASEIN (France)

Resident DJ, Producer and member of Exploration Music crew in Paris, Yan develops a vision of techno music mixing both of his favorite musical inspirations.

Tribal and dub, uk bass music on the first side, and more industrial, ambient, synth and mental german or us techno on the other side. The project is also involving Konpyuta vjs. A duo regularly collaborating with some various musicians and artists.

SEX JAMS

With their third album « Catch! », Viennese Noise Poppers SEX JAMS have returned to the stage once more. Well, actually they were never gone.

They just toured heavily on the back of their last album « Trouble, Honey » (released on Siluh and Noise Appeal in 2012), finally reaching American audiences as well. In 2014 they’ve released « Hits », a Best-Of-Compilation on Brooklyn-based label Old Flame Records. After a four week tour along the East Coast the Jams had to shut the doors to the outside world again for three months to record « Catch! ». It is a return to the essentials of their work: raw, straight ahead into the chaos with a wild smile on their faces.

The plan was to make an album suited likewise for the stages and the record players of the world. « Catch! » was recorded live supervised by Ronny Dangl. Mixing was done by Wolfgang Möstl of Mile Me Deaf, while Patrick Pulsinger wrenched some of his mastering magic out of the board and compressors. The result is a record handmade for friends of guitar weirdness with pop appeal and a punk attitude. Screaming Females meet Kim Carnes at the bar, as PJ Harvey is listening to a Tom Tom Club song on her way to a Downtown Boys show. Probably listen for yourself.

Artwork by Burnbjoern. No questions asked.

NAKED WOLF

Ponderous rock rhythms meet free improvisations, jazz meets pop and world music, catchy song structures meet an ecstatic sound machine that produces high-voltage artificial sound storms far removed from the jazz mainstream, presenting a cheeky, boisterous challenge to our listening habits.

Mika Szafirowski – el. guitar, Yedo Gibson – sax, Felicity Provan – trumpet / vocals, Seb El Zin – vocals, Gerri Jäger – drums, Luc Ex – ac.bassguitar

PATTON

Patton is the story of two Belgian brothers, Sam and Max Bodson, and the group they formed in the 1990s. Their first release, the Love Boat ep was recorded with bass player Philippe Koeune and released on Prohibited Records in 1997. At this point, the group was decidedly angular and electronic, with lyrics showing a narrative approach that contrasted with the music’s abstract, post-rock influences. Using the same angle of attack, the album J-R for jaune-rouge produced by f.lor was released in 2002.

C” – the third letter of the alphabet – is also the title of their forthcoming third album. Still a duo, the Patton boys explore their harmonic experimentation (both vocal and electronic) even further, taking surrealist lyrics and mixing bits of different languages to clash with a variety of synth sounds, all while maintaining their resolutely rock aspirations. The vocals become instruments in themselves.

NATE WOOLEY / KEN VANDERMARK

Chicago saxophonist and composer Ken Vandermark, and New York trumpet stalwart Nate « Wooley, have been operating in each other’s orbits for the past five years. For this project, they work with each other’s iconoclastic compositional and improvisational vocabularies. Taking their cues from the underappreciated work of John Carter and Bobby Bradford, Vandermark and Wooley work together to create an organic combination of jazz tradition, free improvisation, and modern composition in this new raw and intimate duo.

CHARLES GAYLE TRIO

There is no player on the scene today with the emotional wallop of CHARLES GAYLE. His later discs – particularly Ancient of Days – manifest a mature improvisational talent that can stand with any saxophonist’s today. If you are interested in improvised music, you owe it to yourself to hear him.

A gentle and humble artist, he is clearly one of the greatest saxophone players in the FreeJazz tradition. Born and raised in Buffalo, he was much influenced by the church, where he grew up singing and playing music, but also deeply affected by the racism that he experienced in his urban environment. Christianity is deeply felt by Mr. Gayle and is integral to his music. Mr. Gayle i a musicianwho excels at whatever instrument he plays, be it sax or piano orbass, as he will demonstrate so well. Primarily self-taught, he is tireless in his commitment to the music. He has played music all his life, be it on the streets where he lived for some time, or in fine European concert halls where he has been met with great enthusiasm. Now he is 75, yet he refuses to lay back and rest on his musical accomplishments, for fear that the music might lose its ability to move us – Charles Gayle does not play for himself, but to serve.

He has said about his character “Streets” that he dons that attire so that he can get out of the way to let the Music shine. Histntention is to move and inspire, and he has dedicated his life to this goal.

TELSTAR SOUND DRONE

Telstar Sound Drone was formed in 2007 as an artist collective working with media such as sound and video. The first project was to add sounds to old educational movies, playing along with the projections, but the project soon turned into a band and settled with the name The Telstar Sound Drone. The band recorded a self-titled EP that led to a show at Roskilde Festival in 2009, and a deal with Bad Afro. The latter resulted in the ”Mirror Pieces” 7” in spring 2011 and now the full lenght LP ”Comedown” which is laced with feedback-ridden psychelic rock as well as slow heavy psych.

DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN

Founded in the 1980s, they have in recent years branched out from punk and created a more experimental style that combines several different forms of music. The band is also especially known for its chaotic live performances.

Die Goldenen Zitronen (English: The Golden Lemons) are a punk rock band from Hamburg, Germany that are known for their entertaining and politically relevant style.

THE INVISIBLE HANDS

The Invisible Hands is a transcontinental collaboration between Alvarius B. (Alan Bishop of Sun City Girls) and four stellar young musicians from Cairo, Egypt: Cherif El Masri, Aya Hemeda (both formerly of the popular Egyptian group Eskenderella), Adham Zidan and Magued Nagati. On Teslam, The Invisible Hands expand the already panoramic range of their eponymous debut LP with a haunting set of melodic, impeccably crafted songs whose vintage psych/hard-rock edge conjures up early Alice Cooper almost as often as it recalls Sun City Girls and 20th-century icons like Ennio Morricone and Serge Gainsbourg.

LAIBACH

Laibach is a music and cross-media group from Slovenia established on the 1st of June, 1980 in Trbovlje (1). The name of the band is the historic German version of the name Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. From the start Laibach has developed a “Gesamtkunstwerk” – multi-disciplinary art practice in all fields ranging from popular culture to art (collages, photo-copies, posters, graphics, paintings, videos, installations, concerts and performances). Since their beginnings the group was associated and surrounded with controversy, provoking strong reactions from political authorities of former Yugoslavia and in particular in the Socialist Republic of Slovenia.

Their militaristic self-stylisation, propagandist manifestos and totalitarian statements have raised many debates on their actual artistic and political positioning. Many important theorists, among them Boris Groys and Slavoj Žižek, have discussed the Laibach phenomenon both from an analytical as well as critical cultural point of view. The main elements of Laibach’s varied practices are: strong references to avant-garde art history, nazi-kunst and socialist realism for their production of visual art, de-individualisation in their public performances as an anonymous quartet dressed in uniforms, conceptual proclamations, and forceful sonic stage performances – mainly labelled as industrial (pop) music.

TOMA GOUBAND

Toma Gouband is a percussionist whose materials include lithophones – rocks, stones, pieces of flint that are struck together to produce sound. Like Le Quan Ninh, he works from a horizontal bass drum used as resonator and table for a host of small instruments. Courants des Vents is a single improvisation, 45 minutes in length. It begins in isolated sounds, struck rocks resonating in the room. Gradually rhythmic figures appear, repeat, and mutate. Bass drum sounds occur, their echoes another measure of the space, and the work becomes increasingly complex, a dance of distances, pitches and durations. What may have initially seemed a simple set of materials assumes new dimension, perhaps in relation to the degree to which such resources might have been underestimated.

Gouband emerges as cryptogeologist, an explorer of the mysteries and consciousness of the material world, opening himself and his listeners to a universe of reverberant matter that whispers secrets of acoustics.

Listening closely to Gouband’s work, one shares in a fresh relationship (imaginative and imaginary) to the natural world. The stones are alright.

PETER BRÖTZMANN + HEATHER LEIGH

Peter Brötzmann (born 6 March 1941) is a German artist and free jazz saxophonist and clarinetist.

Brötzmann is among the most important European free jazz musicians. His rough timbre is easily recognized on his many recordings. He first taught himself to play various clarinets, then saxophones; he is also known for playing the tárogató. Among his first musical partnerships was that with double bassist Peter Kowald.

Heather Leigh operates out of Glasgow via West Virginia and has similarly played and recorded with a kaleidoscope of alt-rock and improv luminaries, notably Charalambides, Scorces (a duo with Christina Carter), Dream Aktion Unit (with Thurston Moore, Paul Flaherty, Chris Corsano, Matt Heyner), Annihilating Light (with Stefan Jaworzyn), Robbie Yeats (the Dead C), John Olson (Wolf Eyes) and many more. The List magazine describes her as a “Pedal steel guitar player from hell. Not for the faint-hearted.

ARABROT

ARABROT has been an outsider on the Norwegian music scene since their beginning in 2001. In the early years the band was ridiculed and ignored by the press and glossy black metal establishment in their homeland, but ARABROT quietly built a reputation among music fans in Europe as a daring and uncompromising live band. Today, ARABROT is one of Europe’s defining underground bands.

MY DAILY NOISE

When one doesn’t see a release for sometime from a certain musician, it doesn’t mean that said musician is lazy or any such thing. Most people get by simply by playing concerts and the like, and just don’t care – perhaps luckily enough – about a new CD every week. I’m sure Kasper T.

Toeplitz is such a musician who concentrates more on playing concerts, such as with one Daniel Buess. He plays electronics and percussions (he’s also part of the Phoenix Ensemble) here and Toeplitz is at bass and computer. My Daily Noise is their duo together and they play ‘loud, aggressive music which sometimes is very peaceful’
