GLETSCHERMUSIK
“Gletschermusik” (Glacier Music) uses the sounds and images of Central Asia’s melting glaciers as source material and inspiration.
Berlin’s Robert Lippok & Kyrgyz musician Askat Jetigen were invited to create an audio-visual performance and a series of concerts.
The project promotes the exchange between science and the arts, creating awareness of the human-induced deterioration of our pristine environment and was instigated by the Goethe-Institutes in Tashkent and Almaty.
The music Robert and Askat created together is magical and thematically relevant to the theme of melting glaciers, a fascinating blend of ancient Kyrgyz tradition and new musical ideas.

KAYNAK PIPERS BAND
Kaynak Pipers Band is a kaba gaida (Bulgarian bagpipes) ensemble performing traditional folklore from the Rhodope mountain, Bulgaria. It is formed to continue the traditions of authentic kaba gaida performance and help people from all the world get closer to kaba gaida music, traditions and folklore. It is part of the enclosing project KabaGaida.Com – platform for online training, workshops and concerts around the world.
The word « kaynak » means « source » and is used to name a kaba gaida performer’s specific tunes/instrumentals, often demonstrating his performing skills. Usually when a piper is playing his « kaynak » the music that he plays come straight from his soul.

TWO PIN DIN
Two Pin Din is a duo of two electric guitars that has existed for over ten years. It is Wilf Plum (ex-Dog Faced Hermans, currently in Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp) and Andy Kerr (ex-Nomeansno guitarist/singer).
Andy and Wilf had already been friends for many years when they met up in a local whisky bar in Amsterdam sometime in the early 2000’s and came up with the idea of creating a duo with just vocals and two guitars. Two electric guitars. No bass or drums. Rhythmic songs without a rhythm section. A few days and two wee little guitar amplifiers later, they were off!

BEIBEI WANG
Beibei Wang is a virtuoso percussionist who has been meteoric rising in the classical music world. She is an international soloist with both Chinese and British musical education background, received double Master Degrees at Central Conservatory of Music (China) and Royal Academy of Music (UK). Her debut recital live DVD was released in 2011. Beibei was selected in the top fifty Chinese musicians recommended list in the “Sound of East” project by China Ministry of Culture in 2013. Recently, she was awarded Exceptional Talent by Art Council England.

FULL BLAST
Peter Broetzmann (Germany, reeds) – the living legend of the European new jazz.
He has exemplified European improvised music for over 40 years and participated in countless international collaborations.
A founder of European Free Jazz movement, his work includes collaborations and recordings with Last Exit (with Bill Laswell, Sonny Sharrock and Ronald Shannon Jackson), Evan Parker, Misha Mengelberg, and Borah Bergman. Recent projects include Die Like a Dog (with William Parker, Hamid Drake and Toshinori Kondo), his homage to Albert Ayler, the Chicago-based Broetzmann Tentet and many more.
His first album Machine Gun released in 1968 still represents the reference for the musicians and critics. Considering his 40-years-career and more than 100 albums, but also many current projects, Broetzmann is still one of the most influential figures of the new music.
Wertmueller and Pliakas worked together on various occasions (touring together in various bands on festivals all over Europe e.g.
SKIF-Festival St.Petersburg/Russia, Kaunas Jazzfestival/Lithuania, RingRing Festival Belgrade/Serbia, Nozart Festival Cologne/Germany, Xperipheria Budapest/Hungary, Long Arms Festival Moscow/Russia, Cross-linX festival Enschede and Utrecht/Netherlands, Festival Victoriaville/Canada, Sound Forest Riga, Clubtransmediale Berlin, Ultraschall Berlin, MaerzMusik Berlin, etc. together with Peter Broetzmann, Caspar Broetzmann, Stephan Wittwer, John Cale, Holger Csukay, Marian Gold, Mouse on Mars, Jaki Liebezeit, KK.Null, Olaf Rupp, IVES #1, and others cooperation with Pliakas’ avant trio STEAMBOAT SWITZERLAND). Both of them toured world wide with their various bands (MW: William Parker Trio, Alboth!, 16-17, W2 MP: steamboat switzerland, sludge 2000 etc.).

ALVIN CURRAN + MASSIMO PUPILLO
Curran’s music-making embraces all the contradictions (composed/improvised, tonal/atonal, maximal/minimal…) in a serene dialectical encounter. His more than 200 works feature taped/sampled natural sounds, piano, synthesizers, computers, violin, percussion, shofar, ship horns, accordion and chorus. Whether in the intimate form of his well-known solo performances, or pure chamber music, experimental radio works or large-scale site-specific sound environments and installations, all forge a very personal language from all the languages through dedicated research and recombinant invention.
Massimo Pupillo is a bass player and composer originally from Rome Italy. He is mostly known for his work with the band Zu. For over fifteen years, his modus operandi of straddling and abusing musical genres has resulted in over 15 album releases across labels such as Ipecac, Atavistic, Daymare Recordings and Headz (Japan). John Zorn described Zu as « a powerful and expressive music that totally blows away what most bands do these days ».

Thanks for reading.

BILL LASWELL + MILFORD GRAVES
Bassist Bill Laswell and drummer Milford Graves have recorded a studio album, Space/Time Redemption, for the Finnish TUM label; it’s out now. (Get it from Amazon.) The disc contains five lengthy improvisations, and runs just over an hour. It’s not their first duo interaction; when Laswell curated a residency at John Zorn‘s performance space The Stone in 2014, the two men improvised together, and the results were released, as a single lengthy track, on the bassist’s MOD Technologies imprint. In the January 2015 issue of The Wire, I wrote, “Hearing [Laswell] paired with free drummer Milford Graves on the 40 minute ‘Back in No Time’ is like listening to two records at once. The two men rarely intersect—nobody’s gonna make Milford Graves play a groove—but hearing their individual meanderings in parallel produces a lot of magic.”

THE POP GROUP
The Pop Group are a British band formed in Bristol in 1977.[1] Their output in the late 1970s, which drew on an iconoclastic range of sources across music, art, and politics, made them a pioneering post-punk act. In 2010, the band reunited, touring and recording for the first time in three decades.
Inspired by the energy of the punk rock movement but disillusioned by its musical conservatism, the group initially conceived of themselves as a funk outfit, drawing influence from black dance music, the avant-garde, and radical politics. Soon after forming, they began to gain notoriety for their incendiary live performances and were subsequently signed to Radar Records.

SENSATIONAL
Sensational (born Colin Julius Bobb, October 18, 1974 in Guyana, South America) is a hip-hop performer from New York.
His style is considered unique and different. On his debut he was forced to use his headphone cans as a makeshift microphone, and used sounds from old analogue equipment and found sounds which were recorded and then looped.[2] His style is often about weed intake or sci-fi based themes. He is known more for his often eclectic collaboration work, having played with the likes of Cardopusher, Kid 606, Handsome Boy Modeling School, DJ Scotch Bonnet, Kouhei Matsunaga, and Spectre. Often quite prolific but known for brief spells of homelessness, it not known how much of Sensational’s discography there actually is, as he can often be found selling his music on the streets of New York.

PRAED
There’s no denying that many of us love music that builds, peaks and explodes in an ecstatic chaotic frenzy. Whole genres of music are based around this concept. There’s something almost spiritual about this experience, it creates a physical reaction in the body, it’s cathartic and transcendent – it makes sense both musically and emotionally.
Swiss/ Lebanese outfit Praed are very much aware of the ecstatic moment, of the chaos, the frenzy, and the adrenalin of when the music coalesces and everything feels just right, despite the fact that it’s often became an almost indecipherable cacophony of noise. In fact they are so aware of it that they have elected to prolong this moment – for an entire album.

RETOX
A brutal blend of three different substances, as conflicting as harsh noise, 70’s pop, crust punk and drone can be, Noyades’ music is a psychedelic trip to death. The all-instrumental French band especially focuses on creating and releasing tension through intense live shows.
After nearly two years of existence, they will release their next LP « Go Fast » on S.K Records (Fr) and Kandala Records (Taiwan).
They as well have performed numerous times with Acid Mothers Temple, Pop.1280, Hey Colossus, The Cosmic Dead, …  »

YANNIS CHALPOUDIS
Yiannis Chaldoupis, clarinettist and vocalist, plays thetraditional music of Greece with a twist. He was born inParakalamos, a village in Pogoni, nestled in the mountains of Epirus in northwest Greece, not more than thirty kilometres from the Albanian border. The natural beauty of the region has provided a rich source of inspiration to many musicians from the area, and for Yiannis, musical ideas come in waves like the contours of the mountains around him.

ANDERS JORMIN
Anders Jormin’s new Swedish-Japanese project returns the highly distinctive voice and fiddle of Lena Willemark to ECM (her first appearance on the label in more than a decade), and introduces koto player Karin Nakagawa. In their collaborative music the Japanese classical tradition and the stark, archaic sounds of the koto, allied to Jormin’s muscular bass improvisations, form a unique context for Lena’s sung poems, delivered in her native Älvdals-dialect. Traditions and non-idiomatic improvising are cross-referenced, and new paths are opened up.

HULDRELOKKK
The wood nymph’s beckoning call, is an all-female trio playing acoustic folk music from three Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden and Denmark as well as their own material.
Three angelic voices coupled with two virtuoso fiddles and a groovy rhythmic guitar, they celebrated their world premiere concert to an enthusiastic Berlin audience in late 2009.

DAVID GRUBBS
David Grubbs is a composer, musician, and writer. He works in a wide range of avant-rock musical forms and frequently collaborates with other artists on multimedia projects.
Grubbs has released twelve solo albums and he has appeared on over 150 commercially released recordings. He was a founding member of the groups Gastr del Sol, Bastro, and Squirrel Bait. He has performed with the Red Krayola, Will Oldham, Royal Trux, Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros, and Mats Gustafsson, among others. With the support of his 2006 FCA grant, Grubbs collaborated with poet Susan Howe on Souls of the Labadie Tract, which they performed at Southbank Centre in London, Yale University, and Walker Art Center. Souls of the Labadie Tract was released as a CD in 2007. Subsequent to his 2006 Grants to Artists award, Grubbs released the solo album The Plain Where the Palace Stood (2013) and authored Records Ruin the Landscape: John Cage, The Sixties, and Sound Recording (2014).

BARTON RAGE
Rage is a versed guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and a visual artist. His music is an incorporation of a variety of different genres such as jazz, electronic, funk, world, classical, film, reggae, dub, drum ‘n’ bass, ambient and even pop/rock music. He draws his inspiration out of ancient music styles, merging them with modern approach to composing, fresh methods of audio mixing and mastering in order to create a groundbreaking result in relation with proven ideas that have been the source in music for thousands of centuries.

Thanks for reading. I might be slow in answering this time but don’t worry.

Please do not hesitate in setting up a gig for one or more of these artists.

All the best.

CUMMI FLU
Cummi Flu is the latest persona of ever morphing, multi-media illusionist Oliver Doerell. Originating from Brussels, the analogue-electronic pioneer has been the driving force behind earlier incarnations Dictaphone and SWOD, as well as embodying the Odd Orchestra of Raz Ohara. Well-versed in downbeat electronics, Cummi Flu sees Doerell explore his acid-laced visions of psychedelic forms and frequencies.
The first recordings present a collection of sound collage cut-ups based on home-made instruments with self-tuned rubber bands and bass kalimba at its beating heart. The resulting tracks are an exploration into otherworldly rhythms with the rise and fall of a swollen tide.
Cummi Flu produces a hard to place sound, while at the same time preying on ancient feelings of estrangement, sanctuary and self-exploration.

KAI BIRD
Ka Baird is most well known as one of the founding and continuing members of the long running avant psych project Spires That In The Sunset Rise. Since relocating to Brooklyn in November 2014, Baird has set off in numerous directions apart from Spires with many new collaborations as well as honing in on her solo work. On her debut solo release under the moniker Sapropelic Pyncic, « See Sun Think Shadow » is 8 tracks of piano improvisations performed on a Steinway Grand in December of 2011 in a church in her hometown of Decatur, Illinois. These improvisations have a raw focus that premiere Baird’s piano background as well as her very own style of punctuation, spacing and repetition. Her approach brings to mind the playful, spacious qualities of Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou, the unrestraint of Cecil Taylor, the rolling arpeggiations of Alice Coltrane, and the ghostliness of Arvo Pärt. « See Sun Think Shadow » was released as a limited edition of 200 copies pressed on yellow vinyl through the Brooklyn label and magazine Perfect Wave and released on October 6, 2015.

DANA VALSER
Born in the Asturias, Dana Valser sings and writes song in spanish language.
CHRISTOPHE LANGLADE
Guitar player inspired by primitive blues, he plays solo under the Cotton Wood or Langdale moniker. He is also a member of the duo O’Death Jug (with Michel Henritzi). He opened several gigs for artists like Marissa Nadler,
Pascal Briggs, Sir Richard Bishop or Wovenhand.
MICHEL HENRITZI
Guitar player drifting between abstarct blues and noise music. He played with Kumiko Karino, Junko (Hijokaidan), Rinji Fukuoka, A Qui Avec Gabriel, Tetuzi Akiyama, Chie Mukaï, Shin’ichi Isohata, Jojo Hiroshige, Masayoshi Urabe, Mattin … Member of Dustbreeders (with Yves Botz, Thierry Delles) and O’Death Jug (with Christophe
Langlade).

TOKYO TRIBAL GROOVE ORCHESTRA
GOCOO are a bunch of female and male drummers from Tokyo (Japan) who capture their audiences with original grooves woven with traditional Japanese drums, Taikos. On stage the up to 16 artists create a live music-spectacle beyond imagination when beating the hell out of a battery of their more than 40 drums. GOCOO’s mighty beats, juicy grooves and unique poly-rhythms are of such primal nature that they reflect all known music styles and consequently unite people of all ages, ethnic and social roots and of any taste in music. No matter where GOCOO performs, at major World & Roots, Rock & Pop or alternative Music & Culture festivals, in live clubs, classic theatres and concert halls or at techno events, the band takes all audiences on a mesmerizing trip between trance and ecstasy – drumming down all borders between east and west, tradition and pop, rite and party. Newsweek included GOCOO in their all time top 100 list of Japan’s heroes, challengers, pioneers and icons, as « their borderless sound, a mix of rock and ethnic music from around the world, is cherished by international audiences ».

HIEROGLYPHIC BEING
Producer and boss of Mathematics records, Jamal Moss a.k.a Hieroglyphic Being is a one-off musical explorer. Jamal’s music takes cues from the EBM and House that played a huge part in the Chicago’s musical underground in the late eighties and early nineties, notably Ron Hardy and Adonis, but also Industrial, Avant-Jazz and Noise. His tireless schedule of rough low-key releases over the last 12 years and his intense, very physical, psychedelic music, have made him a key exponent or maybe even a pioneer of what’s recently come to be named ‘Outsider House’, although he prefers the more Sun-Ra like descriptors of ‘Rhythmic Cubism’ and ‘Cosmic Be-Bop’. His releases, much like his music, have straddled House labels and the more leftfield avant garde electronic imprints with ease. However his deeply held Afrofuturist intent and the discipline of his radical designs set him apart from the pack. Always moving forward, his music is an ever-evolving transmission from his mind to our bodies, or as he sees it, a form of meditation that the supple, tuned listener will enjoy immensely.

NICOLA CRUZ
Nicola Cruz’s music invokes the landscapes and rituals of his homeland,Ecuador, a country that is home both to the Andes mountains and the Amazon jungle. His music is an exploration of ancient mythologies and folkloric traditions in a modern setting. Nicola was born in Limoges, France, to Ecuadorian parents. His upbringing was surrounded by a rich musical education in both indigenous traditions and Western theories and
from a young age he took to percussion.
From this musical connection between past and present, traditional and modern, an ongoing South American movement has arisen, exploring the local indigenous and Afro-cosmologies through a carefully crafted analogue sound.

All the best.

Regards.

Alain
