BOOKING OFFER: DARLING DON’T DANCE

Posted in Uncategorized on juin 28, 2012 by debloque
Dear all,

I'm booking one date only for DARLING DON'T DANCE.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZIKg6oBJLI

Available on 3RD November.

Danish rock band Darling Don’t Dance present a unique unity of style and
substance. While unabashedly rooted in the commercial explosion of punk
rock in the early ‘90s, the band’s sound also evokes the visceral Portland
indie of the latter ‘90s and the artier sounds of New York and Boston in
the late ‘80s.

Since forming in 2007, Darling Don’t Dance have played shows across
Denmark, journeyed to I...celand for the celebrated Airwaves Festival, and
even ventured to the U.S. three times to play a series of shows in New
York. With features in the Danish press and on national television and
radio, the band have steadily garnered attention, culminating in the
release of their debut EP, “Bare Frames,” on Copenhagen-based label Pad &
Pen Records in 2009. The debut album is expected to be released in
February 2012.

Darling Don’t Dance lack any pretension to the more fashionable reference
points so casually tossed around as inspiration, and make no attempt to
appease the tastemakers. Darling Don’t Dance take the music of their
adolescence and redress it for today. They sound like who they are; a band
that was weaned on Smashing Pumpkins, snuck their first drink with the
Pixies, and polished off the bottle with Sleater-Kinney.

Afficher la suite
Description
"Three-quarters of Darling Don't Dance could be J. Mascis' forgotten
daughters. In the spirit of the Dinosaur Jr. front man they are playing
cupid with golden melodies and the perfectly right grunge sound coming
from big muff guitar effects." (Soundvenue, 2012)

"Simple rock rhythms, vocal melodies with a twist of pop and noise have
never been mixed so uncompromising and harmonic." (Underlyd, 2012...)

"The 90s-sounding debut of Darling Don't Dance is a nice collection of
pretty vocal harmonies and strong melodies. Just listen to the high point
'Replacement' that successfully combines a 'snapping' verse with a
charming, Breeders-like chorus." (Gaffa, 2012)

Obviously inspired by bands like The Breeders, Sonic Youth and Smashing
Pumpkins the choice of letting the well-reputed producer and engineer John
Agnello mix the album was evident. He's been working with Dinosaur Jr.,
Sonic Youth, The Kills, and The Breeders among others.

In 2009 the band released the EP Bare Frames which was reviewed as "some
of the best garage rock that has reached our latitudes this year"
(Soundvenue, 2009) and described as "a quartet with a great potential.
It's gripping and you’re left wanting more" (Diskant, 2009).

I hope to hear from you asap.

Have a nice day.

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFER: CORE OF THE COALMAN

Posted in Uncategorized on juin 25, 2012 by debloque

Dear all,

I’m arranging some dates for CORE OF THE COALMAN.

He’s available between 26th August and 9th September.

Jorge Boehringer’s viola axe and silver toned frequency drift for the vibration of the air surrounding the Aural Coils, electrically. Both of them, vibrated in phase pulses sometimes symmetrical, and other times it’s life burning to pour out. Its Yam Yad much picked over when found in the company of a rough legged hawk:geological and musical time frames became supercooled and thus glacially motivated.Slow in form but powered and etched by sunshine continually,in the spirit of biting the hand that feeds one,Core of the Coalman is dyspeptic subtended prescient lacuna and cash money coated in peppermint oil and wrapped in a burning flag,a nest made from twigs stuck in the discarded remains of a dissected dream of textural structures evolving at their own rates and viewable from aan infinity of viewpoints and dimensions simultaneously, and all that, that sort of thing.

Core of the Coalman feedback-driven yodel triggers, descending tympanic pressures implying sexual interface, and (probably) extended upwardly mobile Carnasitic arrays, with ornaments. Its like the blurred fossil record of a biological crises during a time of intense geological speed.

Know what I mean, man? its Ordovician noise. The invitations went out like

648 million years ago, it was old school. You still haven’t showed up. I miss you A compound eye may consist of thousands of individual photoreception units. The image perceived is a combination of inputs from the numerous ommatidia (individual « eye units »), which are located on a convex surface, thus point in slightly different directions. This, for Jorge Boehringer, results in a specific type of focus, in which multiple systems of polymathic pursuits are allowed to progress at their own rates, attaining, as such, a unified, rather than fractured, perceptive, though a perspective different from that enjoyed by our ancestors- human and otherwise. He lives in Prague currently.

I hope to hear from you soon.

BOOKING OFFER: LES MOMIES DE PALERME

Posted in Uncategorized on juin 20, 2012 by debloque

Dear all,
I’m booking some dates for LES MOMIES DE PALERME. They are available during the second half of November 2012.
http://cstrecords.com/les-momies-de-palerme/
Les Momies de Palerme was formed in Montreal in Autumn 2006 by multi-instrumentalists Xarah Dion and Marie Davidson. Creating immersive, meditative arrangements of synthesizers, guitar, processed violin and vocals, and frequently incorporating video projections, props and costumes into their performances, the duo began performing live in late 2006. Les Momies soon became a fixture of the Montreal avant-garde music community, performing frequently in local independent venues and loft spaces (particularly La Brique, a collectively-run art space of which both Xarah and Marie are members), and sharing bills with such acts as Shalabi Effect, Alexandre St-Onge and the Murray Street Band. By Fall 2007 they had recorded their first collection of songs, L’amour sincere, self-released as a CD-R and which would soon top the music charts of CKUT radio at McGill University. Throughout 2008 and 2009 Les Momies continued to gather momentum locally, appearing on stages with Pas Chic Chic and Stars of the Lid, and playing such festivals as Suoni Per Il Popolo, CoolFest and Pop Montreal, Quebec City’s L’Off festival, and the world-renowned Festival de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville, in Victoriaville, QC. In the Spring of 2008, Xarah and Marie joined Sam Shalabi’s Land of Kush orchestra, and appeared on both recordings produced by the ensemble: Against the Day and Monogamy. In 2008 a lengthy recording process at The Pines studio with Dave Bryant (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) was undertaken, from which Brûlez ce coeur, their second album emerged. Hauntingly beautiful and strikingly unconventional in both structure and sonic palette, Brûlez ce coeur was eventually released in the Fall of 2010 as part of Constellation’s Musique Fragile Vol. 1 box set – a limited-edition and artwork-intensive three album collection. As of April 2012, Brûlez ce coeur will be available as a stand-alone album on CD, 180g LP and digital formats. Les Momies de Palerme are currently at work on their next album, Marianna sous le nouveau zodiaque.

I hope to hear from you very soon.
Regards.

BOOKING OFFER: TOSHI NAKAMURA + HAVAR VOLDEN

Posted in Uncategorized on juin 19, 2012 by debloque

Dear all,
I’m booking some dates for TOSHI NAKAMURA + HAVARD VOLDEN. They are available between 2nd and 7th November 2012.
http://www.squidsear.com/cgi-bin/news/newsView.cgi?newsID=1363
Toshimaru Nakamura — one of the leading and most minimal of minimalist improvisers — has issued dozens of recordings with just about everyone in the Cagean post-AMM stratosphere of sound-making. And pretty reliably the best of those have been duets with acoustic players, taking the « electro-acoustic » moniker literally. His long relationship with guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama has borne some of his most evocative work (including the remarkable In Search of Wild Tulips from 2009, where they are joined by a pair of percussionists. Records with guitarist Annette Krebbs, trumpeter Axel Dörner and « inside piano » player Andrea Neumann have also been very satisfying.
A new duo with a little-recorded guitarist follows in that vein. Håvard Volden plays an acoustic affixed with contact mikes, making a vibrant sound chamber out of the strung wooden box. He’s not the first to do so, but it’s still a great workbench and he makes good use of it. Minor movements of strings (plucked, muted, struck, brushed) give rise to resonant sounds, and friction against the soundbox makes for a sort of a drum. Volden is also given to nice, rhythmic repetitions, giving raking regularity to the proceedings at times. All of this works well against Nakamura’s no-input mixing board. The sounds he coaxes from within the deck are purely electronic (of course) but very textural; they occupy space in a wide variety of ways. When heard against the familiarity of a vibrating string, the whooshes and squelched buzzings of electicica currents made audible are warmed by the guitar, especially near the end of the second of the two 20-minute tracks, where Volden indulges in some almost conventional playing. Slowly voiced chords and harmonic suspensions give added buoyancy to the ethereal electronic utterances. In an arena as inventive as the once Nakamura and Volden inhabit, there might be a risk of condemning the « not new. » And there may be nothing particularly new here (although Nakamura’s playing continues to grow harder and fuller), but it’s a great piece of dually improvised sound art.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Regards.
Alain

BOOKING OFFER: TUXEDOMOON

Posted in Uncategorized on juin 13, 2012 by debloque
Dear all,

In partnership with Pascal Alliott (pascalalliot@hotmail.fr) I'm booking
some dates for TUXEDOMOON.

They are available between 10th October and 10th November 2012 and also in
early January 2013.

http://tuxedomoon.co

Tuxedomoon is an experimental avant-garde post-punk New Wave group formed
in San Francisco, California consisting of core members Blaine L.
Reininger, Steven Brown and Peter Principle, Luc van Lieshout and video
artist Bruce Geduldig.

Formed in 1977 by multi-instrumentalists Blaine L. Reininger and Steven
Brown, then two students of electronic music at San Francisco City
College, with technical assistance from video artist Tommy Tadlock,
Tuxedomoon started playing salons and accompanying performances by The
Angels of Light. Brown's connections to local theatre gave the band access
to vocalists Gregory Cruikshank, Victoria Lowe, and, most frequently,
Winston Tong. The band gained some level of recognition in 1978 when they
opened for Devo. Michael Belfer, (guitarist), and Paul Zahl, (drummer)
joined the band in time to help with the group's first EP, No Tears. Lowe
left prior to the album's release in 1978. Soon afterward, Tong and Belfer
left the group temporarily, and bassist Peter Principle joined the lineup.
In 1979, the group signed to The Residents' Ralph Records, with whom they
recorded their next two albums, Half Mute in 1980 and Desire in 1981,
after which the band relocated to Rotterdam for a short time and moved on
to Brussels, believing their sound better fit the electronic scene in
Europe.

In Brussels, the band soon created the score for a ballet by Maurice
Bejart, released in 1982 as "Divine". In 1983 Reininger left the group in
order to pursue a solo career, and trumpeter Luc Van Lieshout joined. In
1985 Tuxedomoon had its largest success commercially with the
international release of Holy Wars. Tong left the group again soon after
its release. Multi-instrumentalist Ivan Georgiev was brought in to perform
on the group's next two albums, 1986's Ship of Fools and 1987's You. The
band remained inactive through most of the 1990s, although never
technically broke up. On July 20, 2004 a reborn Tuxedomoon, consisting of
Steven Brown, Blaine Reininger, Peter Principle, and Luc Van Lieshout
released a new studio album, Cabin in the Sky. They continue to work and
tour together and have since released Bardo Hotel Soundtrack in 2006, with
upcoming projects coinciding with the group's 30th year anniversary, the
Vapour Trails album and the boxed set 7707.

I would like to hear from you asap.

Regards.

Alain

BOOKING OFFER: JUNZO SUZUKI

Posted in Uncategorized on juin 11, 2012 by debloque

Dear all,

I’m booking some dates for JUNZO SUZUKI.
He’s available betwwen 8th and 21st October.

http://www.myspace.com/suzukijunzojp

Inspired by Lonnie Johnson’s « Blue Ghost Blues, » Suzuki Junzo’s second album on Utech Records, Ode to a Blue Ghost , channels the bleak side of his playing. While hints of his blues- and folk-inspired work can be heard at times, they’re never far from the clutches of phantasmagorical loops and feedback squalls. Resonating guitar and meditative riffs inhabit a world apace with shimmering calm and levigating dissonance.

I would like to hear from you with your ideas and offers.

Regards.

Alain Bolle.
