BEAM SPLITTERhttps://triptickstapes.bandcamp.com/album/split-jawAvailabilities: 9th-11th October, 16th-25th October, 19th November-07 December
Territories: Europe + UKBEAM SPLITTER have been touring globally since 2015, playing close to two hundred concerts in a wide variety of spaces and contexts, bringing their own brand of highly amplified dialog, which is as intimate as it is equal amounts raw and entirely exposed. They join together their two individual voices into a distinct language that delves beyond the borders of the corporeal elements of un-processed voice and trombone, while utilizing analog electronics to offset their hyper extended physical play. The duo’s latest album « SPLIT JAW » was released on Nat Baldwin’s Tripticks Tapes in 2023. This bite size format packs an entire universe of their crafted sputter, breath and glitch inside its forty-five minute
magnetic tape loop. The album is one third introspective Berlin studio production and the rest, live from a splintering concert given at Wels Unlimited Festival in Austria, their last concert of 2022 where audience and the duo alike giving it their all center of room, split open like hollow bones head to clavicle, muscles twitching and air spewing, breaking ground and mending it with alien hums.CHOPCHOP (UK)https://chopchopsounds.bandcamp.com/album/el-sticoAvailability: 2024
Territory: BelgiumSince their inception in 2016 CHOPCHOP have garnered a reputation as a compelling live band, with Galician writer Xelís de Toro mixing performance art with his yelped vocals, and the band pulling in wildly eclectic influences to form their own unique sound. Following on from their debut album ‘Everything Looks So Real’ and 2023’s EP ‘Elástico’, the band have a third release due for November 2023, and plan to build on their extensive live experience with some overseas shows in 2024.PASSED FUTURIST (Finland)https://passedfuturist.bandcamp.com/album/lost-naturistAvailability: tba

Territories: Europe + UKOne year on and Claude Cooper has now re-emerged working in collaboration with poet vocalist Brain Fog on ‘More Myriad Sounds’, a fresh consideration of that debut available from 10th February through Friendly Recordings. The story goes that the desperate lyricist, burdened by the weight of his unsung rhymes, got wind of Cooper’s sonic exploits and travelled across the Atlantic from his Brooklyn home to the West country nu-jazz capital determined to track Claude down. The NY rapper with an untraceable back story obviously succeeded, the mythical Mr Cooper was found and now we have their joint effort. Whatever, let’s not take the distractions any further. There may be an element of sneaky rib-tickling going on here with all the smoke and mirrors but that’s not the issue. What matters is that in ‘More Myriad Sounds’, Claude Cooper (and his new buddy) have made another album that absolutely rocks.SPECIMENS [UK]https://specimensmusic.bandcamp.com/album/intersectionsAvailability: On request

DELPHINE DORA (France) + MOCKE (France)https://bythebluestofseas.bandcamp.com/album/linvisible-est-multiformeAvailability: December 2023 + January 2024
Territories: Europe + UKAfter a first album as a duo released on Okraina Records: « Le Corps défendant », Delphine Dora and Mocke invite us to join them again in listening to a new album. We slip into it as if in a dream, the music carries us away with its floating images.
Heard before on a handful of disturbingly beautiful solo albums and in collaborations such as Midget!, Arlt, Chevalrex, Mohamed Lamouri, Mocke (Dominique Dépret’s nom de plume) is a subtle and inventive guitarist, who draws melancholic arpeggios, with a beautiful languor, that walk the line between tensions and tears. Delphine Dora has been heard with Roxane Métayer, Sophie Cooper, Andrew Chalk, Jackie McDowell, Helena Espvall, Valentina Magaletti … meeting in a moment of improvisation, a solitary sincopated voice blooming between the black and white keys of her piano, tuning betwist these keys, or at other times in the gap of the right note. Here improvisation feeds on melody, or is it the other way round?PAOLO CALABRESE [Italy]https://adventurousmusic.bandcamp.com/album/no-14Availability: On request

In addition to the double bass, she uses found objects, motors, and field recordings to create musical experiences that deconstruct meanings and forms of musical structures. Kris has presented her music at the festivals such as Papiripar, JAUNA MUZIKA, StimmeX, Blurred Edges Festival, Piksel, and Estonian Music Days. In addition to sound art, Kris frequently features in theatre and performance art settings working with interactive technology, audience participation, and durational performance. The band’s early releases were on the legendary Rough Trade Label before signing with Virgin offshoot Din Disc. They also released several albums on the Cherry Red label, making a notable appearance on that labels’ well known ‘Pillows and Prayers’ compilation. Though The Monochrome Set split in 1985 the next decade saw several reunions for both live gigs and further studio recordings.

Their “always-on-tour” mentality, coupled with a DIY ethic, fearless vision, and pulverizing live shows have made them the Jucifer of Europe; impossible to categorize, but always there, appearing in your hometown, like a ghostly omnipresence. OvO’s fiercely independent ethos and grinding live schedule have earned the band a significant worldwide fanbase that have come to expect nothing but the most daring and innovative dark music presentations.EVICSHEN (USA)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dPpZchcsNAAvailability: 21st November
Territory: BelgiumVictoria Shen is a sound artist, experimental music performer, and instrument-maker based in San Francisco.
Shen’s sound practice is concerned with the spatiality/physicality of sound and its relationship to the human body. Her music features analog modular synthesizers, vinyl/resin records, and self-built electronics. Eschewing conventions in harmony and rhythm in favor of extreme textures and gestural tones, Shen uses what she calls “chaotic sound” to oppose signal and information, eluding traditionally embedded meaning.
Her personal identity; her body; is the space her work utilizes to restructure sonic meaning. In her live performances, she proposes an exploration between meaning and non-meaning through the physical activation of noise tropes. Her probing into these melodic voids interrogate the ways we perceive value within aural experiences. The appendage-like instruments and objects she makes, exemplify Shen’s ability to embody through sound her interest in the tension created by opposition: control and chaos, the unique and the mass produced, the practical and the absurd.
I hope to hear from you soon.
