FRANCISCO LOPEZ
Francisco López is internationally recognized as one of the main figures on the stage of sound art and experimental music. His experience in the field of sound creation and work with environmental recordings covers a period of more than thirty five years, during which he has developed an impressive sound universe that is completely personal and iconoclastic and based on profound listening to the world.
Francisco López’s sound performances are something beyond a “normal” musiconcert. An intense and rich sonic immersive experience in the dark, with a surround multi-channel sound system and blindfolds provided for the audience. Virtual worlds of sound created out of a myriad of original sources collected all over the world -from rainforests and deserts to factories and buildings from multiple locations in the six continents- and mutated and evolved during years of studio work through the master compositional skills of López’s universe.” The space is reconfigured with a multi-channel surround system around the audience, which is placed in seats arranged in concentric circles facing the outside array of speakers. The performer operates from the center of the space (not on
stage), in order to be able to control live the sound as is heard by the audience.

RICHARD YOUNGS
Born in Cambridge and raised in the Fens, Richard Youngs began making music at the start of the seventies. His early work centred on the family piano. When this was sold in the late seventies, however, the classical guitar and cassette recorder became his instruments of choice, along with anything at hand that made a sound. From then on he has played any number of roles with bands such as Astral Social Club, Concrete Hedge, No Deserts, Jandek and Future Pilot A.K.A. Recent collaborative work with Andrew Paine, Heatsick, Kawabata Makoto and John Clyde-Evans also show him as a highly social musician.
His catalogue of releases wanders into all kinds of zones over a vast array of albums on various labels including his No Fans imprint: they include accapella, guitars, pipes or electronics and come out of solitude and in partnership with atmospheres that range from fragmental folk to all-out fuzz.

HELEN MONEY
Alison Chesley, known also by her stage name Helen Money, is a classically trained cellist who draws her inspiration not only from Pablo Casals and Shostakovich but Jimi Hendrix and The Minutemen. She began playing the cello at the age of 8 in her hometown of Los Angeles, and through her undergrad and graduate studies, steered a course towards a career in classical music. While in Chicago attending Northwestern University, however, her focus shifted towards the rock music she had always loved. The instigation came from Jason Narducy, a singer/songwriter inspired by Bob Mould, who was looking for a cellist to perform new material with him. Together they formed the band Jason & Alison, then Verbow, becoming a force on Chicago’s active club scene. They came to the attention of Epic Records and released two recordings for the label, produced by Bob Mould and Brad Wood respectively. Alas, like many major label signings from that era they were dropped unceremoniously and disbanded. At a crossroads of sorts, Alison decided to go full steam ahead in pursuit of a career outside of classical music. She began a busy period as a solo artist, especially on Chicago’s then thriving studio scene, where she played on over 100 albums including those by Bob Mould, Broken Social Scene, Anthrax, Mono, Russian Circles, Disturbed and Poi Dog Pondering. She began composing music for films, theater and dance including two world premiers with the modernist icon Shirley Mordine. And, in 2007, Alison wrote the first Helen Money album and released it on her own label, Cellobird Records. Since then, she’s recorded three additional albums as Helen Money, the latest of which, Become Zero, is available on Thrill Jockey Records.  Helen Money has toured the world several times over opening for bands such as Sleep, Shellac, Earth, Mono, Neurosis, Magma and Jarboe including a 2015 appearance on The David Letterman Show with Bob Mould and an appearance at the 2012 ATP Festival in London curated by Portishead. In 2011, Alison moved back to Los Angeles where she recently completed a month long, weekly residency headlining at LA’s Complex, a mecca for metal, post-rock and experimental music.

HIGH WOLF
High Wolf have been creating his own mix of world music obsession, electronic sound research and psychedelic experimentations since debuting in 2009 on Not Not Fun Records. Since then he has released albums on various labels (Holy Mountain, Rocket Recordings, Leaving Records, Shelter Press, Diskant) and toured across the globe, from Japan to USA, from Brazil to Russia, China or Australia. High Wolf has collaborated, live or on recordings, with lots of contemporary musicians such as Low Jack, Sun Araw, Gnod or Astral Social Club.

QUASI UNA FANTASIA
QUF is a duo influenced by the music of John Cage (electronics, experimentations, toy piano…) and noise where the lyric voice of Christina is the most important element ! Diamanda Galas is not far but also Meredith Monk. To hear with eyes and to see with ears !

BELLY HOLE FREAK
Born under the bad sign of a dirty blues crazy wind, Belly Hole Freak one man band has moved to a new set basically influenced by delta blues, early swing, Dixieland, inspired by giants as Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Robert Johnson, Tom Waits…..
The intent of Belly Hole Freak is to use a theatrical language melted into the music, trying to communicate trough “nonsense” funny words.

All the best.

SEC_
SEC_ is the moniker of Mimmo Napolitano, electro-acoustic musician and composer from Naples, Italy.
His main instrument is the reel-to-reel tape recorder, that he uses to both warp sound materials, creating unpredictable and grotesque joints, and in connection with devices like no-input mixing board, synthesizer, pick-up, CRT TV, generating weird rhythmical interactions between devices and driving this way the musique concrète closer to power electronics and club culture. Continuously trespassing the borders between analog and digital, structured and improvised, narrative and abstract, SEC_ is rather interested in the relation between the physicality of sound (and of the generation of it) and what we can maybe still call “musicality”. Elements of this sound universe are cuts, bangs, twisted rhythms, sharp or animalistic sounds, deep drones, in which you can scent remains of industrial, techno, dub, metal, horror movies soundtracks…
Co-founder, in 2005, of the avant-rock band Weltraum, since 2008 he collaborates with Mario Gabola in the duo Aspec(t) and with musicians of different areas (electro-acoustic, noise, free-rock). With these formations and in solo he has played extensively around Europe, in many kind of venues and events, as well as in festival such as: L’Audible (Paris), All Ears (Oslo), Cable (Nantes), Flussi (Avellino), Akouphene (Geneve)…

JOHN BUTCHER/GINO ROBAIR
John Butcher is a saxophonist of rare grace and power, who has expanded the vocabulary of the saxophone far beyond the conventions of jazz and other musics, to encompass a staggering range of harmonics, multiphonics, overtones, percussive sounds, and electronic feedback. But his playing is far more than merely an array of special effects: it’s characterised by an intensity that propels it into strange new places that are both incredibly beautiful and deeply exhilarating.
Gino Robair is an American composer, improvisor, drummer, and percussionist. In his own work (as a soloist and in improvisation ensembles), he plays prepared/modified percussion, analog synthesizer, ebow and prepared piano, theremin, and bowed objects (polystyrene, customized/broken cymbals, faux daxophone, metal). Although Gino is often referred to as a jazz musician, he grew up playing both rock and concert music.

MAI MAI MAI
As a child, Toni Cutrone aka Mai Mai Mai followed his parents around Europe and the Near East, ending up in the south of Italy, assimilating different cultures, atmospheres and sonorities of the places he was involuntarily taken to. These sensations and sounds were intense enough to leave indelible traces in his music, but Roman noise omnivore Cutrone own decade-plus experience in the Italian underground has doubtless played a role as well.

CELLULAR CHAOS
Known for his work in The Flying Luttenbachers, XBXRX, Burmese and his current role as Lydia Lunch’s musical director, Weasel Walter initially founded Cellular Chaos as a San Francisco Bay area improvisational instrumental combo, but with a move to Brooklyn, the name was repurposed to christen an entirely new act. The band headed in an equally intense and cathartic direction, but became more song-oriented with the addition of frontperson Admiral Grey, renowned New York City writer, actress and performance artist. Grey’s surreal narratives of trauma, apocalypse, and abuse weave furiously through angular, masterfully expressed arrangements, propelled by the muscular drumming of Marc Edwards – and alternately planted and uprooted by the spinning foundation of double bassist and composer Shayna Dulberger on electric bass.

ERIKM + MARTIN BRANDLMAYR
Both musicians have been active in the scene of improvised and experimental music for twenty years, both have been astounding their audiences with their intricately developed playing manners. Now they joined their forces on this album.
eRikm, based in Marseille, started his musicial activities as a virtuoso turntablist in early 90s, gradually shifting his focus to more abstract music, sometimes abandoning turntables or substituting them with minidiscs or CD-turntables. His recent record output includes collaborations with Catherine Jauniaux, Norbert Möslang, Michel Doneda, Jerome Noetinger, dieb13, as well as solo albums Variations Opportunistes, Sixpériodes, Stème, Lux Paylettes, Transfall and the most recent Select Archive. Ecotone is his third project for Mikroton, following Stodgy and Mal Des Ardents / Pantoneon.
Martin Brandlmayr, from Vienna, is known for his inhuman capability of overprecise percussion playing which at the same time retain a deep humanity and produce a beautiful sound. He’s the driving force behind the superb trio Radian, who have released records on Mego and Thrill Jockey, the improvising trio Trapist with bassist Joe Williamson and Martin Siewert, the longrunning legendary quartet Polwechsel (along with Werner Dafeldecker, Michael Moser and Burkhard Beins), and other projects like Autistic Daughters (with Dean Roberts and Werner Dafeldecker) and Kapital Band 1 (with Nicholas Bussmann). Ecotone is his second project for Mikroton, following El Infierno Musical quintet’s album with Christof Kurzmann, Ken Vandermark, Eva Reiter and Clayton Thomas.

ROYAL TRUXX
ROYAL TRUX from Washington DC, like LOOP are indebted to classic garage and psych, at least instrumentally. Vocally, Jennifer Herrema’s voice is akin to Betty Davis which acts as counterpoint to Neil Michael Hagerty’s which lies somewhere between Beefheart and Johnny Thunders.

QUJAKU
QUJAKU are a Japanese psychedelic band formed in 2013 and based in Shizuoka, Japan. Their music is gothic dark shoegaze, which reminds you of The Horrors, but it also contains emotional expressions that Japan uniquely has, leading you to feel Scandinavian post rock like Sigur Ros. Aesthetic but also destructive, roar but also silenthce, QUJAKU are a rare newcomer that has two opposite elements at the same time. They released their debut album, ‘ZyouK’,from So I Buried Records in October 2015 and a new EP, ‘Keiren’, in April 2016, heading to deeper psychedelia.

CARTOUCHE
Cartouche » is a multi-faceted project between eRikm and Natacha Muslera
“Cartouche” exists since May 2010 and carries out concerts (electronics and voice), performances and installations, electroacoustic pieces and radiophonic creations. The experimentations of the Natacha Muslera + Erikm  duo give us a glimpse of the
affinities that are possible between the disciplines of voice and turntablism once theyhave been freed from their repetitive ruts in the articulation of an abundant, organic, and surgical dialogue, strengthened by a capacity for reception and reaction that characterizes the work of these two virtuosos, where the extreme sensitivity of fingers meets the plasticity of voice.

ANDY MOOR + YANNIS KYRYAKIDES
Traveling the length of the giant Chinese South-North Water Transfer Project Antoine Boutet makes meditative recordings of the strange landscapes it has created. Scored with live music, this movie depicts the widely discussed project that -in despite of the omnipresent government propaganda for the project (including banners proclaiming “Making China more beautiful!”), has the citizens suffering the consequences less than impressed.
During this special screening of the film musicians Andy Moor and Yannis Kyriakides will perform a live soundtrack to this filmic exploration of water on the move.

KIM MYHR / LASSE MARHAUG
Kim Myhr is a prominent voice on the Norwegian experimental music scene, both as a composer and as a guitarist. Myhr has released two solo records: Bloom on Hubro (2016) and All your limbs singing on SOFA (2014,) both widely acclaimed. Myhr is an active composer, writing for chamber ensembles, electroacoustic settings and for various dance and theatre projects. He is also member of MURAL (with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach) and Circadia (with Tony Buck, Davis Stackenäs and Joe Williamson).
Lasse Marhaug has been a fixture in Norwegian experimental music for the last 25 years, with hundreds of releases, collaborations and projects. He composes music for film, theatre, dance and installations, and is also a writer, magazine publisher and visual artist. His favourite astronaut is Michael Collins.

AFRIRAMPO
Formed in Osaka, Japan in 2002, Afrirampo is a rock band comprised of two members; ONI(Vocal, Guitar) and PIKA(Vocal, Drum). Their music mixed with primitive sound, bound up with mind-blowing performance, have created an international stir. In 2003, they launched their debut album « A », followed by few albums including « URUSA IN JAPAN » from Sony’s imprint Ki/oon Records in 2005. They announced to split in 2010, and in the year after, an album « NEVER ENDING AFRIRAMPO »(a CD/DVD set, Ki/oon Records) containing a live recording from their final show was released. In March 2016, after six years since their break-up, they are back together to present the newborn Afrirampo.

All the best.

Availability: Between 1st and 3rd October
Territory: Belgium

A SUPERNAUT
In the beginning, God created Hard Rock, radio stations were liberated, and Belgium was christening its communities. In 1972,   Black   Sabbath’s   “Supernaut” wanted to touch the sky and climb up every mountain. The   project   makes   a   radical   turn   to   a   power   trio.  A Supernaut becomes A Supernaut
The name hasn’t changed, but the band is not the same. Make the most of it, and stop at nothing.
This new line-up expels the old post stoner demons and opens the door to a more complex personal dimension.

ANDREA BORGHI
Andrea Borghi (1974) is a sound artist and electroacustic composer based in Pietrasanta, Italy.
He completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara in 1997. After starting out as instrument player he attended courses in composition and electronic music held by composer Andrea Nicoli at the Conservatory of Music G. Puccini in La Spezia and also expanding his activity in the field of visual and sound art, investigating their possible connections. His research is centered on using the software Max and often performs in audio-visual contexts.. Most recently his work has focused around relationship between sound and matter. Founding member of the electronic improvisation quartet VipCancro, Andrea’s work is published on international music labels such as and/OAR (USA) Reductive (ESP) Observatoire (RU) Cipher Productions (AUS) Contour Editions(USA). His most recent cd Fuochi rituali di San Giuseppe was released on Unfathomless (BG). He is the winner of the first prize Radical dB 2016, category multimedia artist. Recently he held a solo exhibition of Discomateria at Museum Kesselhaus, Berlin, presented by Hyperlinear and N.K. His main occupation is as an art teacher.

JOE MCPHEE – JOHN EDWARDS – KLAUS KUGEL
Joe McPhee’s  magical take on avant-garde sax remains one of the wonders of the scene. He still has one of the most beautiful tones on the planet, even when he’s reaching for jazz’s outer limits. » mjd 5/02
John Edwards has always been involved with a wide diversity of musical styles and situations. At home with composed and improvised music he is one of the busiest musicians on the scene.
